This is a great idea. And the perfect test-song for this. And I never new that about David and the high E strings. So I learned something tonight. So I got that going for me. Which is nice. Great video, thanks for making it.
Yeah the high e string thing was news to me as well, glad I stumbled across it. I thought it was BS til I strung the guitar up and it sounded just like the record!
Hi, thanks for the video. I have an even more interesting 'tuning' for you. With my Yamaha pacifica PAC-12 I have removed the heavier E, A and D strings...making it a 9 string guitar. I call it 'High Nashville 9'. I can't think of a better or more sexy name for it right now. This fabulous and now relatively rare Pacifica is strung with an Ernie Ball Super Light 12 string set. It gives you the best of the Nashville tuning plus a flavour of 12 string all at once. It works really well in the contex of a song. Perhaps you'll have fun with this idea too.
I've heard of folks doing this, and IIRC one manufacturer (maybe Taylor?) did a 7-string guitar that was a regular guitar plus an octave G string; they apparently have an 8-string baritone (D&G courses doubled), and Martin has one as well that isn't a baritone. It's a cool idea for people who want a little more zhuzh but don't want a whole 12-string.
Rick 12 string and the Alvarez when solo took the win for me but when you started panning Rick to the left and Tele to the right things started getting very interesting.
How cool does the rick and the gilmour sound together? Man, almost perfect. Great job.
thanks :)
