  • A report has found that over nine in 10 Singaporean firms are eyeing opportunities in the proposed Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone. The Singapore Business Federation's findings involved 160 companies; half are already operating in Johor. While many say the time is ripe to leverage the southern state's favourable operating costs and land availability, and Singapore's talent expertise and connectivity, challenges remain. Richa Mathew has more.

Predict that a lot of Singapore SMEs will shift most of their operations over to Johor cos they don't have to follow Singapore Labor laws regarding quotas, they can hire as many Malaysians as they want at Malaysia labor costs, lower rental costs as well.

It's better. Why waste Singaporeans workforce, labor, land and time when the business model's very essence is centered around low waged labor?
Just get out and move out to Malaysia instead. Singapore government is supposed to purge out low wage labor companies decades ago.

Should have the SEZ, so these businesses can earn money from or through Singapore while paying peanuts for Malaysian manpower. Its a win-win solution, for Malaysia and these businesses. Singapore just needs to open the gates and let it happen so the bleeding can start. Hope the Singapore Parliamentarians are 'smart' enough to play the country out for their own pockets like how it often happens in Malaysia. Anyway, LKY is dead don't worry about anyone coming after you, yeah.

Given these appointments, it is not surprising that some Singaporeans may question the potential conflicts of interest involved, as political leaders within the ruling People’s Action Party (PAP) are already tasked with multiple roles while still serving their constituents.
