That’s awesome man I’m at the lead singer and a guitar player when they played in Melbourne Australia back in 2016. How do you said they’re very friendly
Moonsorrow As far as music goes, no. I'm one of those production complainers, and I thought the production of 'Kingdom' didn't do the band justice. Thus why i think it's their worst sounding album. They wrote some killer riffs and slayed, just too bad they didn't want a heavier sound to accent it.
***** Thank God someone understands. You post a review like this on Amazon people will throw shit at you like "Production doesn't matter, this isn't hip hop!" - like really guys? Compare an album like this to the previous and you really do have vastly different sounds, so of course production and mixing fucking matters. 'Kingdom' composition wise, was great. The final master was stale. This isn't Immolations fault, they were just victims of Nuclear Blast's yet again, poor decision at hiring a producer for a band. If you look at a lot of Nuclear Blast releases in the past 3 - 4 years, all of the production is half ass and pretty poor.
Great Ep like their albums. It's a good thing bands like Immolation never sold out. May they continue to work as they have done so far. Many greetings from the Czech Republic

@@thephoenixcycle8854 I like getting vinyl because the album art is super big. It is more of a collector thing. When listening, I still stream usually...you have to have a decent turntable and the pressing has to be good, otherwise the vinyl won't sound as good as a CD. However, if the pressing is strong, the mastering is done specifically for vinyl (as in higher resolution, 24bit 88kHz sample rate, or analog), AND you have a proper turntable, then yes, the vinyl will produce a more "true" waveform...whether or not you perceive that as "better" you have to decide yourself. Some people like the more warm sound of proper vinyl playback, some people actually prefer the crisper sound of a CD.
@@thephoenixcycle8854 I don't think so. It's placebo. Also, I only shared because I felt cool about how rare this is on vinyl (apparently). _Immolation always has the BEST ending song on each album._ I found about this EP in 2020, and I can't believe I missed this. I have been listening since high school in 2007. This EP marked the end of the 2000s immolation. It had my favorite albums like the following: Close to a World (good but every song is like over 7 min long lol) Unholy cult (excellent) Shadows in the Light (my favorite) Harness Cult (good) Smear Campaign (excellent) Time Waits for No Slave (my favorite) After thus EP and "Hope and Horror" their sound totally changed and not for the better unfortunately...
Is there any info out there about the synthetic strings on "Illumination"? I wonder is it really the sound of strings filtered through something, or what. It sounds downright ominous, and superbly fitting in this awesome tune.
Not sure exactly what you are asking, but I'm going to answer the best I can. Everything that you hear, is played by them, on guitar!! What you hear on all their albums, they do live, in concert, themselves. No studio magic!! It's, all played, and done by them through their amps, that it.

I wouldn't go that far . Immolation have some masterpieces ( e.g illumination ) , but a lot of weak songs too . The only band you can say that about is Death , Every single Album of theirs was a masterpiece .
Even Death had Sound of Perseverance, they didn't just make masterpieces, Spiritual Healing isn't mindblowing it sounds so much like Leprosy which sounded so much like Scream Bloody Gore, fuck even their best albums IMO Human and Symbolic aren't better than the best death metal albums like Altars of Madness, Like an Everflowing Stream, Close to a World Below, Effigy of the Forgotten, Onward to Golgotha, Cause of Death.
Something extraordinary must have happened in 2012, a stale band suddenly got a massive creative impulse and what came out of it, is perhaps the best music they have ever done.
I don't know about calling them a "stale" band because the only mediocre thing they have released was shadows in the light. they had majesty and decay a year before this EP and it's a great album and they have been since then delivering great death metal. if the "stale" adjective here is refering to shadows in the light (maybe harnessing ruin), then yeah we probably agree. but the first 5 immolation albums (or 6, because harnessing ruin is better than mediocre yet still not as good as the first 5) and the last 3 albums +this EP are amazing.
I got my copy from the band in 2017 when they were on the Cavaliera brothers Roots tour meet Ross Dolan he was selling the merch that night one of the nicest coolest dude's I ever meet
