Believe me, I lost everything I owned here in Denham Springs, La during the flood of 08/2016. We got 4ft of water in my house mind you, areas that have never flooded before had water so high, you will never forget it. Now I'm not saying that areas in South Carolina are going to flood with Hurricane Irma, but if I were anyone near the coast line, I would be preparing my stuff for a possible evacuation. For your first hurricane, remember to chain your legs to the floor so you won't fly around anywhere. Also, get away from any trees, buildings, animals, etc. Basically be in a wide open area so you only worry about flying away, which the chains will prevent. It works wonders, we survived Katrina that way.
