Right, ironically enough, every time a doctor on RUclips talks about anything they're usually wrong I'm figuring out. It's the enthusiast, The people that are obsessed with whatever it is is who you need to listen to.
Go to a running shoe store to get fitted correctly, you can get a good neutral drop shoe instead of having a 2mm-10mm drop between the heel and forefoot. That's what I got with some Brooks Ghost 15, best thing I have ever done for myself besides a chiropractor.

Because your feet have adapted to comfort and arch support and when transitioning to flat shoes which resemble your bare feet more, the muscles and tendons have to adjust. After a few weeks or months you'll condition yourself to them and all the muscles that have atrophied and weren't used before will come back to life. Depending on your foot anatomy, you may have spoiled them with comfortable shoes that "did the work" for you instead of your foot muscles.

@@josephacker5716 Everyone’s feet are different, but, Brooks ghost 15’s were by far the worst shoe purchase I ever made. The 12mm drop is horrible for most feet. Not enough cushion under the forefoot caused me first metatarsalgia. Then because of that forefoot pain, made me heelstirke more, which in turn caused me Achilles pain. One day it starts raining and the slippery outsole gives out, my foot hits edge of something and folds. I’m writing this in bed with a 8 days old grade 1-2 foot sprain due to those horrible shoes. Worst $80 I’ve ever spent. Will never ever buy brooks again. I read internet shoe reviewers who complained about ball of foot pain as well, professional shoe reviewers… so wasn’t just me that had metatarsal pain. Happens when all your cushion is on just the heels and less than half that thickness on the forefoot. Every step running felt like the balls of my feet were being slammed isn’t to ground. It semi-permanently gave me metatarsalgia, which wouldn’t go away even after I changed shoes for 2 months… which then led to Morton’s neuroma. Brooks ghosts are the worst shoes ever. Even the doc on video is saying flatter is better… 12mm Is one of the largest drop offs of any running shoe. I can’t think of any that’s larger. Most high heel shoes are 10mm. Most hokas are 8mm. Most Nikes are 8-10mm. Brooks is one of very few, with 12 mm drop. And that might be ok if the forefoot had any cushion. It doesn’t.
