- Samsung Fridge Freezer double doors. Detecting the recirculation fan issues and saving it. The recirculating fan gets iced up from time to time and needs defrosting. Otherwise the fridge doesn't work properly, and your food won't be chilled !

The last bit of your video saved me. I thought I’d broken the fan or broke a wire. I presumed the fridge would come on immediately when plugged in. After 15 mins the fan came on . It’s going down now like yours in video -18 +9 now . Cheers Mate 👍

The freezing up got progressively worse until I was defrosting it about every couple of weeks 😏 I tried several fixes; had some copper tape and thoroughly dried out the polystyrene before taping up the edges. Squeezed all the moisture out of the foam where the pipework form the cooling coils goes into the plastic at the back. Took out the cooling reservoir completely. had it about three months now and it is great. Not as complicated without a recirculation system and no ice maker, but I never used that on the Samsung which I inherited when I bought the house.
I did consider spare parts, but that would have been about a quarter of the price of a completely new Logik and may not have worked 😏
So if you can afford a new fridge freezer get one. I am very happy with the Logik. Dimensions were more or less identical and it slotted in easily 😀
Hi, the solution is - After opening the panel, you need to move the thermostat from the right side to the left

thank! thjis has been full of ice in that back panel for a while now, the fridge kind of worked ,.but I didnt realise all of that fan and element were there. Its a bad design fault if you ask me
I would look to replacing it if it has the icing up issue. I struggled with mine for about six months before replacing it 😉
Thorough defrost did the trick. Removed the 6 screws to check the fan was working and turning. Monitored for the first few days with an additional fridge thermometer. RSH5 now seems to be OK again. Bit of a pain.
Mine got worse and worse and eventually I replaced it with a cheaper Logik one. It doesn't have the drinks and ice dispenser and so doesn't have the fan and all the other stuff the Samsung had, but it works great 😀 and no having to take an hour out every month or so to defrost it 🙄

I Just bought a second hand one, it worked ok for a feww weeks,but now no ice and water it seems its frozen so maybe i should do this job

I did the routine of taking it apart and defrosting several times, tried patching up all the exposed parts to stop any water absorption that could lead to icing up and in the end I got a new fridge freezer which has been fabulous.
My STRONG recommendation to anyone with this fridge is to replace it 😉
I replaced mine with a LOGIK - LSSBSS18 and it has been fabulous. No ice making part, or cool drink dispenser, but that's fine, I never used it anyways 🤣
@@Craig-MItchell Thanks I have said to my wife last time I do this we even bought a new full fan casing and a metal clip which goes on the condenser tray. It does last a few months but it's a pain in the arse keep doing it. New freezer in coming thanks for your help 👍

Is it possible to defost the fridge and leave the freezer on? My fridge is all iced up but ive got a freezer full of food
The freezer will keep your food frozen for a couple of hours, if you keep the door shut. Enough time to follow the tutorial and defrost fridge. I just did it and the food was still frozen. Took me like 1hour with a hair dryer.

I never replaced any parts.
I bought a used one but I noticed some ice conducted in the inside corners of the two lower shelves. When I turned it on the screen worked a few seconds then one blinking hyphen kept blinking. Anyway the freezer works perfectly but the fridge is not cooling.

Hi can you tell me where the water filter is situated on this fridge please.
The fridge filter on mine was outside in a cupboard, it's not part of the fridge. FYI I gave up on the Samsung and replaced it with a new fridge freezer that works great and doesn't have the ice maker and filter system. You can buy a good quality water filter system, perhaps AcalaQuell. I've had mine for about six months now, it's great and no more single use plastic bottles 🤣

Hi - are you saying this fridge doesn't actually have a water filter at all? I am getting a message (same model) saying the filter needs replacing, but I can't find the filter for the life of me.
That correct, mine didn't have an internal water filter that I was aware of. My be I missed something ?
There was an external cartridge filter in the cupboard next to it.
Anyways the issue of it freezing up got progressively worse and I replaced it with a simpler logik fridge freeze which works just fine. I have counter top water filter which is way better ! much more volume for filling kettles etc,
mine completely stopped 2 weeks ago, we have no one to check the problem. Can you please recommend me someone? Thank you

Get a new fridge freezer if possible 😉
After defrosting it several times, eventually I gave in and got a Logik one the same size. It was about a third of the price of the Samsung and works great 🤣

You're welcome RGR. The fridge got worse and worse, having to defrost it more often, and I eventually replaced it with a Logik one which is fabulous. I never used the drink or ice dispenser, which was part of the issue with the Samsung. The bad design of the drinking water cooling system 😏
