  • C.A. Conrad, a non-binary poet and frequent Columbia University lecturer, conducted a public art experiment in which he used colorful bubbles to lure children near him on a street corner, then told their parents: “These are queer bubbles and they’re gunna make your children queer.” This disturbing project reveals the primary strategies of Queer Theory activism: overriding the public’s intuitive moral sense through ideological coercion and elevating identity, rather than behavior, as the basis for judgement. "Luring kids with bubbles" is the key here. The activist, who will hide behind his protected identity when challenged, is trying to use the trappings of innocence (blowing bubbles) to destroy innocence, to pollute the public square with the deliberate sexualization and politicization of children. This is offensive and abusive behavior, and a strong community would stop it without hesitation. When challenged, he asserts his "trans identity" and claims that he is the victim instead of the innocent children he is abusing with unwanted talk of "queer bubbles" and identities. He might seem like any other political extremist (nazi, white supremacist, antifa, nation of islam, etc.) standing on a street corner trying to hand out pamphlets and harassing passersby. You might say that is protected speech, even if offensive. Except in this case the targets are children. Despicable. And probably criminal.

Anywhoozies when I realized how enormously wrong i was regarding the gay marriage argument, I was forced to reconsider everything. I'm no longer in that relationship, but technically still married. We parted ways about 8-9 years ago. I've learned abiut the history of the democratic party. I've learned about socialism/communism. I've learned about eugenics and the history of planned parenthood. I've learned about the Prussian model of education (what our current evil public schooling system was built in its likeness). That subject lead to the education of our founding fathers which lead to the Bible and God and American Exceptionalism is indeed exceptional for a plethora of reasons I can't fathom all integrating into one without the guidance of the Bible and the Christian God. I look around and the exultation of degeneracy, vile obscenity, burgled innocence, and contemptible evil was enough to get my ass to church and accept that we obviously cannot be left to our own devices... faith in an entity higher than the self seems to have worked in the past and intuitively seems like the correct standpoint now.

The shift to understanding and focusing on praxis is really the most useful tip for anyone that wants to survive Social Justice, especially in person. If you are always responding to their words and focused on their words, you'll actually miss almost the entirety of what they're trying to communicate. I'm a survivor of SocJus abuse in real life, and an ostracized whistleblower. Even though I was very familiar with Social Justice by the time I got my last job as a youth counselor it was still extremely hard to coexist covertly. Even moreso because I refused to lie or participate in the ideology without tipping them off. I often would not respond or engage; I'd go dead silent. But my actions and words always reflected my values as a youth counselor.
Even if you WANT to give them what they want, you usually fail because what they act like and say at surface level is not what they're trying to communicate; they are trying to hide behind a facade and communicate threats and bullying. I've listened to researchers on female aggression recently and they are much more covert than men. As I am a man, I missed most of the threats, demands, requests, etc from people in the SocJus cult, because a toxic environment made it taboo to say what they actually needed, or diverge from the ideology.

You were right not to lie or pretend just to appease them because once you take that first step *it never ends.* You'll never be good enough up until the point you'rr psychologically abusing others into doing the exact same thing you were coerced to do. It's vile.

The Pied Piper of Hamelin (German: der Rattenfänger von Hameln, also known as the Pan Piper or the Rat-Catcher of Hamelin) is the title character of a legend from the town of Hamelin (Hameln), Lower Saxony, Germany. The legend dates back to the Middle Ages, the earliest references describing a piper, dressed in multicolored ("pied") clothing, who was a rat catcher hired by the town to lure rats away with his magic pipe. When the citizens refuse to pay for this service as promised, he retaliates by using his instrument's magical power on their children, leading them away as he had the rats. This version of the story spread as folklore and has appeared in the writings of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, the Brothers Grimm, and Robert Browning, among others.

I find such performative and confrontational forms of activism to be problematic. Provoking people mostly gets you the wrong kind of attention, and seldom wins them over to your cause. I agree with the statement that what he did is really so much performance art shenanigans. However, legitimate performers do so in a way where the audience knows what they are in for, and if children are the audience, it's mostly done in a way that isn't controversial, and the parents are informed of the nature of the performance so they can decide if it's appropriate.
This activist is framing his actions as ritual, poetry, or an experiment. All his own highly subjective opinion, and sus. His main goal seems to be to amuse himself, and reveling in the awkwardness, at the expense of others, as is the case with most provocateurs. Anyone who doesn't agree with his fun little queer bubble skit is judged as bad. "Ooh why are you so offended? Why are you sorry?" He gets to sneer sanctimoniously and declare how he's not the problem, with his harmless bubbles, but rather the 'bigot' parents are. He's well aware of what he's doing. It's designed to get a rise out of the parents. And yes, while some may get his joke or whatever, parents are rightfully concerned when a random creepy adult is doing something that is obviously designed to attract children.
He's taking delight in this, and is clearly doing it for attention for the benefit of his ego, and not any cause of fostering diversity and acceptance. I'm sure if I encountered him on a sidewalk with a child in tow, my reaction might well be to say, "Sure, be proud to be queer, or whatever you identify as, love is love, and all that. But if you get anywhere 'effing near this kid, you're eating those 'effing bubbles, if I don't 'effing punch you first." Call that a threat, or a hate crime if you like, or call me names, but as the child's guardian, I would be right to be protective of them. He probably is hoping someone will hit him so he can take them to court, & claim to be the victim to the media.
It's disturbing when activists either target people's kids, or use children as pawns. Often the kids are too young to understand it. They bring their kids to demonstrations so they can witness history and teach them lessons whatever. How- by putting them in harm's way, by having them in the middle of a mob of angry adults? Spell out your signs right, speak your slogans clearly, and protest to your heart's content, but leave the kids out if it.
I once saw a video of such activists protesting police brutality by making kids create 'gifts' for the police from arts and crafts materials to decorate the fence of a police station- without asking anyone there if it was ok first. They made a big deal of marching their kids there, and having them eagerly tie their decorations to the fence. When the police removed them, these parents told the kids- "See? See there? These bad police are destroying your pretty gifts you worked so hard to make for them! See how these cops treat the public they are supposed to protect and serve? Not all cops are bad, children, some are good, but shame on these bad men for picking on kids, and making them cry!" So the kids naturally cry and carry on after having their emotions manipulated, and the cops are made to look bad for cleaning their own fence. Those activists didn't win anyone over - they created a spectacle, and they did so while brainwashing kids in the process, which is sick. It's a form of child abuse.
Or worse, you have people bringing kids to a critical mass bike ride at night, or participating in a protest where they stop traffic on a freeway. And if anyone drives on, no matter how cautiously, they can yell at the cars about how they're trying to run over the kids.
They get activist street cred and bragging rights. Even better if someone gets arrested or hurt, and they can claim to be doing good as part of some social movement, when it's really about grabbing the spotlight to stroke their own egos. It's theatrics by design.
Whether your cause is a left, or right wing one, religious, or otherwise, such contrived displays seldom change anything for the better. Conrad's misguided bubble theatrics aren't doing anything to help the LGBTQ community he professes to bring awareness to, or love so much.

If the parents weren’t present he might have been offering them candy which he had in his windowless van, or asking them to go with him to find his lost kitten or puppy. The reason they spoke in a conciliatory, apologetic fashion was because they did not want to incite him to violence,

The real lesson here is that we, as a society, have become so subjectivist in our thinking and yet so brainwashed and manipulated by FEAR of being labeled as a "hater" of some kind that we tolerate creatures like this "poet" when we should be imprisoning or executing them as threats to our posterity & the cultural riches of our civilization.

Never feel ashamed when confronted with these people and their attempts to belittle your being to fit with their intersectional world view. The only proper response to being called a racist or a phobic this or that these days is "Okay. Have a good day."
Take the power away from these people. You give it to them when you react to their slurs, and they HATE it when you ignore them.

Most people I know who claim to be poly are actually single and are simply doing what used to be called "dating". Or people claiming to be Q just doing what used to be known as "experimenting".
It seems to be an extension of how everything has to be a lifestyle these days. You can't just dabble in a thing you find interesting or exciting, you need to be living it as a complete reality. Like someone buys a bicycle, then suddenly they have a spandex onesie, wear one of those stupid little cycling caps all the time and talk incessantly about it because they are a capital C "Cyclist" now, even though they only ride once a month.
If lifestyle is based on what one spends the majority of their time actually doing or being, then such people are really just capital A "Annoying".

I see this "lifestyling" all around the world though. Might be more to do with the modern search for meaning in life and people trying to fill that void by adopting complete identities rather than having simple interests.

Imaging asking why people where saying sorry? The parents who apologised have already been affected. Yes they dragged their children away, but they said sorry at the same time. These parents are conflicted between protecting their children and signalling their virtues to greater society. These people are a single step away from failure.

An odd twist on the "Pied Piper of Hamelin'' story.. Here children are not lured by a strange person with magic pipes, but by a strange person' sitting on a street corner blowing "queer bubbles." Then there's an attempt to make the children's' parents feel guilty for doing what most parents would do in that situation, pull their kids away and move on.
