Having great difficulty to fit this rhythm into the song 'Amazing Grace'. Any help please?
Josie
Hey Josie, part of the challenge fitting this pattern with Amazing Grace is that Amazing Grace is commonly played in 3/4 time signature, where you count 3 beats per measure instead of 4! There are some versions of Amazing Grace in 4/4 but 3/4 is often found in the hymnal. One option is to cut out the fourth beat strum for this pattern, but this is difficult, since the calypso pattern is so syncopated (i.e. you're not always strumming down on the number beats of the measure). For this reason, I would recommend modifying one of the patterns I teach in another video by just strumming/repeating the first 3 beats of the pattern: ruclips.net/video/gAScCO3Mb-w/видео.html
Quick question when ur doing ukelele does you nails have to be long or short????
Its easier to play when your nails are short especially on the hand thats used on the fretboard.
I would like to practice the calypso strum with a metronome to increase the speed. I don't know how to set the metronome. :-(( Thanks
I'd pick a slow to medium tempo first somewhere in the range of 70-90 BPM at first to practice this strumming pattern!
Is this the same as an islands strum? X
Yep! Sometimes the "calypso" strum is referred to as the island strum.
