I’d say as a motocross rider he wasn’t that good technically, but why he was so good and something he had over the rest was his commitment, he was so confident in what he was doing on track it made him faster than the rest.
Where’s literally every other rider has that certain level of commitment on the track, they will have certain places on track where they won’t push any harder. But Travis will & he’ll be confident & committed with no hesitation

@gildo101rossi Travis Pastrana is incredibly talented. His balance and natural abilities on a bike are probably in the top 10 of all time professional racers in the modern era. You can see he feels everything the bike is doing and can ride at the absolute limit of control. Yes, he does send it harder than most, and he's definitely willing to push his comfort zone. But the man has phenomenal balance and a definite feel for how a bike is behaving.

@@seanhaberman4619 actually his technique on a motocross bike is average pro, he’s clearly talented in fmx but as a racer his technique isn’t that good.
But like I said his commitment & zero hesitation in himself is why he was so fast.
Not disrespecting him or saying he’s shit, because no way Pastrana is shit.
But a lot of his crashes in racing weren’t already down to pushing the limits, but rather poor technique.
He’s very flat footed on the pegs for example

I wish he would have continued racing. I appreciate all the things he has done for freestyle but it would have been epic to see him race the premier class. I saw him live at a FMX event and his bike control was unreal, he went into a narrow tunnel and turned the bike around on a dime at speed. All the other riders looked clumbsy and slow turning their bikes around.

As talented as he was and is, he was a huge gamble and liability for anyone signing him. I think even Travis knew that about himself.
