I stumbled onto these quite by accident. I'd been looking for these sorts of documentary films from you, for ages without success. Films showing life as it was in this country between the Thirties to 1950 which has gone forever. Even the voice overs and music b/g are wonderful. Thank you so much.
Hi Peter, thanks for the feedback. Do you mean you had been looking for "these sorts of films" from us (the NFSA) specifically? Or just films of this period generally? But yes you have come to the right place. Over 70 films between 1930 to 1950 on the channel so far. Plenty more to come too. Please stay tuned.
Probably generally. Visited the Canberra shop and came out with an armload of stuff. Many on video cassette so can't play them unless I can get me an old player. Now, can't get back there, so I'll be watching....
VHS players are no longer manufactured AFAIK. Second hand would be a risky option as they are an unreliable machine generally. Welcome aboard the NFSA time machine, next stop Historyville.
Thanks for the feedback John. We have such varied durations in the collection so there will always be a mix but many of the longer films have great stories to tell. Glad you enjoyed it.
Thank you for this very interesting film 🎥 really enjoy watching these films. This is what they call today climate change. When this is showing history repeating itself here in Australia & we still haven’t learnt from the past.😬🙄
This angers the blood. Practices which destroyed European landscapes being used here with the same result....? Bad science and poor governmental mismanagement.
I love my country Australia. It is like breath of fresh air when I watch the videos that you post. So clean and pristine and real.
Thank you.
Thank you so much.

¿Recordando el que?
Tus tiempos vividos en Australia?
1948
Where is the really early footage from 1800s
Film didn't exist until the late 1800s. 1820s for still photography. Before that - painting!
I'd like to eat a curry on the banks of the Murray.
That was great shame about the land and their ignorance regarding ploughing it up and ruining it..

And yet we are supposed to be the intelligent ones lol
@@2partiesnotpreferred226 Is that meant to be sarcastic, poor land managment is a greed issue not an intelligence one
@@dopaminedreams1122 if it's not sustainable how is it intelligent?
@@2partiesnotpreferred226 Because they know full well it’s not sustainable, like I said it’s a greed and profit issue, they aren’t dumb.
@@2partiesnotpreferred226 by the time these resources dry up we will all be long dead.
