Awesome to watch at AX2023! I was shocked at the absolute sync of this AMV, every word with the lips, every movement and swing of the blade perfectly matching the music. The sword jabs at 1:27 dropped my jaw and made it tbh
this is so severely underrated its making me sad. it's gorgeous, especially how its on the beat and all the perfect transitions, plus the lip syncing! 1:32 is my personal favorite lip sync portion because amanda, and i think the part that floored me the most is the stuff immediately following 2:42, especially because of how perfect that beat drop is. oh, and 0:28 because her movements line up so well in addition to that transition. there's clearly a lot of effort behind it, thank you for blessing my eyes with this. ive watched this at least 5 times already.
Had the pleasure of seeing this at anirevo and immediately knew this was one of my favourite AMVs of all time. I could tell the crazy amount of effort and detail put into this and the description would certaintly confirm that. Amazing job on this masterpiece of work.
Man.... As an LWA fan, this AMV made me fcking cry, beautiful ,nostalgic, inspiring And right now i'm still crying, yet hyped af, this is a gift from beyond the stars and i am grateful that i had discovered this You casted tears of joy into my eyes, RESPECTS!!!
Lol thanks, but I can't be too greedy. This video has won plenty of awards already, and The Hero King's New Clothes was a worthy action winner. Either way, AFO is the first contest that my Proeliis Liberorum video has competed in, and it got a Judge's Choice award. That's the result that I'm truly pleased about.
Saw this at Zenkaicon and glad to see it won for most Upbeat. Remember seeing it live and chatting with friends on Discord about “oh shit, they got LWA here to Popstars and it works so well!”
There isn't much to tell yet in regards to when it will be available. I can say that it's going to be a series called Type: Gate. The first book is done but I'm still looking for an agent. It will be quite a while before it will be published. In the meantime, I have set up a Discord server for beta readers to give me feedback. If you're interested in that, send me an e-mail at silkamv@gmail(dot)com.
I saw your clip at Anime Messe contest and thought it was really nice. I'm glad I was able to learn just now how much work you had put into it. All of it has paid off :)
Loved the transitions in this one, I can tell you worked really hard on this one and it shows! I also saw your entry on the Youmacon Fan Art Theater page, good luck!!
I woke up this morning with this title in my head, so I had to google for it and watch it again. I’d only seen it at judging at AWA 22 and hadn’t seen the RUclips title card with all the detail before - amazing!! I’d been wondering about the effects and transitions while I was watching it today. Thank you for providing all that detail and information! And for the direct download links too, I’m going to have to watch it again on a larger screen and look for that invisible flying transition :).
Thanks! If you have the movie on hand (Little Witch Academia: Enchanted Parade), you can find the two clips at 36:57 and 39:02. Looking at them separately should give you a better idea of what to look for.
Thought I commented on this months ago, but I guess I didn't. Either way, your Little Witch AMV surpasses mine in every way possible! Catchy, visually awesome, and it's obvious that hard editing work pays off after four years! Nice stuff, Silk 👏👌👍😁🔥
Just saw this at the Animethon AMV contest. I placed it as my number one pick of the 32 finalists. I hope it does well on Sunday when the winners are announced!
How hard was it to sync everything up perfectly? I really appreciate the fact that you tried to use longer clips and slowed or sped things up to fit the timing, makes everything easier to follow rather than throwing a bunch of flashy unrelated half second clips at us. Unfortunately I won’t be at otakon I’m actually going to be moving out of Baltimore the week before funnily enough. But I wish I could have caught this playing on a big screen. Ah well. Guess I’ll just have to settle for a big TV and show this to my friends when I finish moving back home.
Difficulty is a matter of perspective. I was very meticulous in ensuring that everything happened on-beat, and only selected clips that could be modified to match the rhythm of the music. That's normal for me, but is pretty uncommon in most AMVs.
@@SilkAMV when I was younger the flashy unrelated clips was fine but as I’ve gotten older that style ends up becoming visual noise since I can’t follow the action. It’s one of the reasons I’m glad Hollywood is starting to film fight scenes in longer takes again. So I really wish your style of editing was more common. It’s really refreshing.
@@Heiryuu I think the real difficulty lies in smoothly transitioning between the clips. I've built my editing technique around that style, trying to maintain seamless flow for as long as possible. 90% of the work on this video was building the transitions. Fortunately for me, clips that have lots of rhythmic motion often provide opportunities to transition into another clip. Sometimes, I use an effect or a scene from a third, completely different clip to make the transition. Sometimes it's hard, sometimes easy. But the hardest transitions often look the coolest.
By the way, I don't know if you attend more conventions than just Otakon, but I submitted this video to other contests too. Blerdcon, Nan Desu Kan, San Japan, Saboten Con, Anime Banzai, and Kumoricon.
Very much enjoyed seeing this at Otakon 2021 and voted for it on my ballot. I love LWA. And yes, these are the best witches. Lotte's a nice girl and good roommate but while Sucy was quirky & fun in the OVA, in the series she's kind of a frenemy and a bit of an @sshole....I love Akko & Diana's relationship.
