The parents did learn ASL, but don't know how much. Maybe they kept thinking... Okay, NOW the problem will be solved.... No? Okay, try again..... We can all fall into that trap. When do we decide enough is enough? But it seems pretty clear that the school district failed the family. 😔

Wow! I am supporting hearing parents of Carter Churchill. He must access to ASL in school. I can't believe Carter is at a kindergarten level as if he is current on a 6th grade education! It surprised me. I guess Carter didn't learn ASL much. One day Carter will go to Gallaudet University to learn more ASL when he turns 18 if he decides wanting to enroll there in D.C. I first learned the sign language when I was about 4 or 5 years old. That was a long before ASL was invented.
Wow oh my gosh I am so sorry for Carter . That mean school failed to provided. I was little girl i had hearing loss at 8 year old and i did not lean signing until i am 15 but during that time i learn finger spell little signing to another Deaf kids but I do not realized i am like them because i loss my hearing at 8 year old now i know ASL but I am Black Sign Language . I learned 4 sign language from International I loved it. Thank Alex for tip and sharing. I hope Carter Churchill parents will win and fight for their child to have deaf access. School need to check the interpreter certification. Do not hire a person who is not certification not fit the job..
Honestly, I support ASL to provide to improve the deaf children of learning the best ASL programs at schools. Never discriminate or ban ASL! Have the human rights for deaf children for the best educations and ASL programs in the future 🤞
What is this, the dark ages? I mean, really! Maybe it was difficult for the district to find qualified support, but that does not mean they should give up and say, "We did it. This is what you get."

Parent need to sue government for a deaf school. Its a human right issue. Not locally issue but human rights.
Bryan didn't say why school closed in 2010? Deaf school private? Teachers? Unfair too many hearing schools! No excuse! State greedy!
I used to go to deaf school in halifax for 10 years and I love sign languages and I learned lip reading no problems

Can LEAD-K support Carter and his parents? Can LEAD-K fight for parents at court? Just wondered.
Yes if he lives in the US. Canada should have LEAD-K too!
