1:23 what did you press to bring up the control pop-up window? I also have a MacBook Air with Samsung Smart monitor. Can you do a video on how to adjust brightness on a monitor using a remote control?

Hi, I downloaded the monitor control app from the MacBook app store, it was the lite version but it gets the job done. This was an absolute life saver as I find myself almost going blind at night so big thank you! Was not able to find sound source on the app store. If I use the remote and click on Settings > Picture > Expert Settings > Brightness it says that the brightness is at 35/50 but when i click on it it says function unavailable. Does this mean the screen can still go brighter?
May I also ask where you downloaded the 2 apps from?

Is your interface to M7 monitor is HDMI? I'm using Display Port.

I can control sound by using the keyboard without any third-party apps. I selected the Headphone port as the device for sound output as I had external speakers connected to my Macbook. However, I'm still not able to use the brightness keys. Let me try the way you have mentioned in the video.

Thank you a lot, it helped me a lot.
    MonitorControl works almost perfectly.
It can control the brightness almost perfectly.
The issue is that my SamsungSmartMonitor M7 has a max brightnesse of 50 unit.
    It can not go higher.
The MonitorControl app can go up to 100 unit according to its progressbar.
So the brigthness progress bar doesn't match perfectly the ability of the my monitor.
MonitorControl app could let us define what is the max brightness of our monitor or what is the max value of the progress bar.
In my 50 instead of 100.
For SoundSource it is amazing it works perfectly.

Sound Source isn't on my Mac nor the App Store. Where can one get that? I don't believe you mention it in the video outside of the spotlight search

So the SoundSource actually worked for my Samsung M8 but MonitorControl didn't work for changing the brightness of my monitor. Do you know any other options? Thank you

Have you tried using a usbc 3.1 gen 1 cable?
That should do it without any softwares

      @bryanmontero 3 года назад +1

@@RichCastroBJJ I can confirm that the brightness controls won’t work even if you use an USB C 3.1 Gen 2.
I thought they would, but after testing it it doesn’t.

Under System Preferences>Display>Display Settings there is an option to scale the output so that everything is normal sized. The output will still be 4k.

I have the same monitor. unfortunately, it doesn't control hardware monitor brightness using DDC, but uses only software method by adjusting brightnes of picture displayed. you can see the slider work only in range 0-50% and it does not work in range 50-100%. you can see it also by checking brightness settings in monitor's menu - it won't change. None of other similar utils works with this monitor for me.

So, for me I disabled DDC in both "General" and "Monitor" tab in setting for external monitor, so slider work in full range using software method only, and brightnesses of both display are in sync, more or less... It's a pity that DDC method does not work, cos. monitor is always set to max brightness and consumes more energy.
