Man, you read my mind with the top 3, and Pornography as good as 17 Seconds and Faith. However, I don’t think Bloodflowers is that great, I even prefer their debut or even their self titled one (which apparently was recorded in a matter of days. Great review.
Great video, thanks for posting. I think I entered into my Cure fandom in 1985, and I have everything from Disintegration going backwards. I really disliked Friday I'm in Love and pretty much ignored everything from Wish moving forward. I never stopped loving the earlier albums, though. I owned Bloodflowers for a bit but sold it after a couple listens. I feel like I should probably give that one another chance. I heard a lot of the songs that will be on the new album when I saw them live last year, and I do plan to pick that one up. I'd have to spend a few days of intense listening to come up with my ranking of the first eight albums, but I feel pretty comfortable saying that The Head on the Door would come out on top with Seventeen Seconds just a bit behind in the number two spot. Cheers!

Great comment! Disintegration was such a monumental work and so deep it's hard not to rank it as number one, but Head on the Door has always been my personal go to for any mood, as it covers all bases so perfectly. I gave up on them after Wish. Alas tastes changed and I went to a show but didn't even buy that album because Friday was everything I did NOT want to hear from The Cure at that point in my life (though I've come to love it since - if there was one man to stumble upon such a perfect pure pop song it was Mr Smith). It was just such a big shock when we expected Disintegration Part II. It sounds like Bloodflowers could be interesting! Anyway, super excited for the new one, can't wait, cheers!
This ranking is pretty spot on. The greatest mistake Robert Smith has ever made was not including 'This Twilight Garden' and 'Big Hand' on the Wish album. Those two tracks would have brought the record much closer to the level of Disintegration. Serious miss...
I remember they played The Big Hand, A Letter to Elise, and a couple more (I THINK Wendy Time and maybe Sea or Twilight) in a low key gig somewhere in late 1990/1991 and the music press were saying it was gonna be Disintegration Pt II...we were all so excited...
loving the clip , in my opinion , and ive not heard a couple of them albums , but been a fan since 1989 , wild mood swings should have ben higher , i went through my teen phase of the trilogy , but im 51 noq lol , also in my opinion the top should have been higher than head on the door , sinking is still one of my faves from hotd , but love the empty world , wailing wall and quite like bananafishbones , but just my opinion

Tough list, and a few that you chose that surprised me due to my own preferences. I'd have WMS, 4:13 Dream lower down in my list with Bloodflowers last. Bloodflowers really didn't sink in and was probably more disappointing than WMS. Top 5...
1. Pornography
2. Faith
3. Kiss Me
4. Seventeen Seconds
5. Wish or Disintegration
What a top 5 that is... doesn't even include The Head on the Door, The Top, or Three Imaginary Boys.

@@gavaxemanspins I'd agree that WMS is much better than I first thought. 4:13 is solid too. I'll give Bloodflowers another go but it was too hyped and just felt a little hollow to me. Some great tracks for sure but filler also.
i stopped listening to cure albums after wild mood swings , doesnt mean im still not a fan , you inspired me to do my own ranking , but will have the compilation albums in it , kiss me , is an ok album , prob wasnt a double album , some weak tracks like hey you , but fight and the kiss are great , but i think i have to agree with disintegration as number one , just out of curiosity , if cure in orange had been an album and you had done every album , would that have been up there ?

Cheers!
@@t.o.408 great comments! I had to really give all the post wish albums another chance other than Bloodflowers so I didn’t just dump them at the bottom!! Better than I remembered them - I’ve got the new one on order and really hope they tour as one of the few bands I’ve not seen live . Glad you enjoyed 👍🫡

I just can't get past the production on Bloodflowers. They really should remix it, but I think they are afraid of hurting the producer's feelings.

This ranking is pretty spot on. The greatest mistake Robert Smith has ever made was not including 'This Twilight Garden' and 'Big Hand' on the Wish album. Those two tracks would have brought the record much closer to the level of Disintegration. Serious miss...
Cheers Alexander 👍 yep there’s a lot of good b sides around for the Cure. Glad you enjoyed and thanks for commenting 🫡🇬🇧🍻
