  • Nothing says late '80s/early '90s hard rock/(hair/glam) metal like the amazing Ibanez guitars of the era, especially the RG550 and its slightly upscale sister, the RG565. Ibanez reissued these guitars (and others like them) in the Genesis series. This example - in Fluorescent Orange, obviously - is a 2021 RG565 Genesis. Functionally identical to the original guitars, the main difference between the originals and the reissues is the presence of a seriously stable five-piece (maple/walnut/maple/walnut/maple) neck on the Genesis guitars. They even brought back the original Edge double-locking bridge system! These can be found for relatively low cost on the used market these days, and some new ones are available as well (in early 2023 anyway), though Ibanez apparently stopped making them in 2022. The guitar is stock and set up with Ernie Ball 10s. ‪@IbanezOfficial‬
I wrote the music for this song in 2005 (ish) when I was playing with a band called Honeychuck. It's called "Monuments and Trees" and you can listen to the full version on Spotify (open.spotify.c..., Apple Music ( / honeychuck ) or Amazon Music (www.amazon.com.... I originally recorded the song using a PRS Custom 22 and Thorn Artisan Master #40, with the tracks panned hard left and right. I recorded the solo with the Custom 22. ‪@Honeychuck‬
The cable I use here is a "snakehead" cable from Rattlesnake Cables, made in the USA - visit them at www.rattlesnak.... They make GREAT cables. I love the snakehead cables because they are tough, but the protective sleeve won't scratch, mar or rub off the finish on your guitar. Such a fantastic idea! ‪@RattlesnakeCableCompany‬ Use my affiliate link when you buy cables, it helps me out just a little - www.rattlesnak...
My amp is a late '90s modified/hotrodded Peavey Classic 50 head (EL84) running into a mid '80s Marshall 1965A cabinet - 1965 means it's loaded with four 10" speakers, A means it's a slant-front cabinet. It still has the original speakers in it and obviously sounds fantastic :) ‪@peavey‬
