I've lived in Pakistan all my life and haven't done anything like this, 😢 alone on a bike and navigating through the entire northern areas of Pakistan.. What an amazing trip. And yes it's sad that India - Pakistan relations are not good and your wife could not visit. Maybe in the future our political disputes are set aside and people of both countries can go on such trips. And BTW, your Urdu/Hindi has improved over time. 👍🏻👍🏻

We do have really nice imports but those are not available for rent. So Karl went with the best available. And it's serving him pretty good I'd say.

I gotta be honest here. Making Babusar out to seem like it's some sort of super restricted region is not really true. Think about it, would a super restrictive region have zip lines that people are enjoying on??. These checkpoints are a dime and a dozen all across the northern areas of Pakistan and you can see in the video that after asking a few basic questions they let him go. I think Karl is falling trap to the bug of most influencers where they have to add some masala to their videos. damn shame

I watched the entire movie of your trip, but this was a really interesting part of the journey. I thought about the children on the side of the road. No ipads, Xbox, or tv. It's really interesting. I am an explorer too, but differently. I am Dutch, I understand you're half Dutch (too). I am so lucky to live in Kashmir, India. I would love to see Azad Kashmir as well. Seen several videos of that. In my humble opinion Kashmir is the most beautiful with its divine nature. As the Shah Jahangir first stated "if there is paradise on earth, it is here, it is here, it is here". The hospitality of its people outstand all and I am sure in Pakistan it's no different. If only India would not have been divided in 1947. My dream is, one day, Insha Allah soon, borders (all over the world) will disappear, reuniting all people. We're all human, we're all connected: my birthplace is earth, my race is human, my religion is love and my politics is freedom. Isn't that what we all want? Everything and everyone is energy, even the stone is alive when you check on the nano level, nature in Kashmir is so alive and healing. Kashir che myon dil; Kashmir mera dil hain.

As you gain altitude the fuel mixture needs to be enriched by adjusting the carbonators with a screw driver , I’m sure there are RUclips videos for your specific bike to show you how it’s done or by referencing the manual . As a rule of thumb it should be adjusted every few thousand feet and don’t forget to adjust it back when you descend to a leaner mixture

its not a big deal here but publisher of this video made it dramatic with background music for views, its not an actual border crossing between different coutries but different regions of Pakistan within the same country. When i travel in my city Peshawar we have bigger checkposts around the city than this one. Police / army has same crammed questions like where you came from? show national identity card, where are you going?? and then tells us to go nothing unusual here.
I am from Gilgit. The security officials are natives and they wouldn't have said anything even if had mentioned Haryana or whatever part of India. It's not a big deal and don't think people of GB are fools or drama lovers.

Foreigners never need to worry about security checkpoints and services in Pakistan, they will never harrass you. If anything they just want to ensure your safety and will even escort you anywhere for free.
Chinese flag is for their contracts, they have built many roads and tunnels here in this area. Gilgat is their export and import hub.. for the thing coming from Gwadar port.

Dear karl , don't get amazed, The people in these regions(Gilgit Baltistan)had much less direct contact with British India compared to the interactions with Central Asian and Chinese regions. This is why historically,These connections were facilitated through ancient trade routes like the Silk Road, the northern parts of what is now Pakistan had closer ties to these neighboring regions before modern national borders were established after the independence of Pakistan and India in 1947. Yes, and they don't exactly put tourist attractions at disputed and restricted areas lol. Which means this was dramatized for well, RUclips, or he's been scared to a point where he's paranoid about anything and everything. None of this is restricted, however there are quite a few checkpoints, they ask the usual questions, check your papers and off you go (as he has through out this and prior trips). But it's RUclips, need the drama.

If your wife holds a dual nationality (newZealand's) then she can get a visa and travel Pakistan just like you can. Like a Pakistani Vlogger @WildLensByAbrar have visited India around an year ago, as he is German national. I've seen quite a few videos of this travel series and it seems you are very highly influenced by Indian side folklores about Pakistan :) Common peeps almost always welcome you even if you are Indian. As far as the security is concerned, they will always treat foreigners with more scrutiny for their own and our security. Babusar top is no way near a restricted region. We do have these entry/ exit system/ checkposts at almost all entry exit points in the north or bordering regions. This also serves the purpose of identification in case if, may God forbid, any accident happens.

Dear karl , don't get amazed, The people in these regions(Gilgit Baltistan)had much less direct contact with British India compared to the interactions with Central Asian and Chinese regions. This is why historically,These connections were facilitated through ancient trade routes like the Silk Road, the northern parts of what is now Pakistan had closer ties to these neighboring regions before modern national borders were established after the independence of Pakistan and India in 1947.

Yes, and they don't exactly put tourist attractions at disputed and restricted areas lol. Which means this was dramatized for well, RUclips, or he's been scared to a point where he's paranoid about anything and everything. None of this is restricted, however there are quite a few checkpoints, they ask the usual questions, check your papers and off you go (as he has through out this and prior trips). But it's RUclips, need the drama.

If your wife holds a dual nationality (newZealand's) then she can get a visa and travel Pakistan just like you can. Like a Pakistani Vlogger @WildLensByAbrar have visited India around an year ago, as he is German national. I've seen quite a few videos of this travel series and it seems you are very highly influenced by Indian side folklores about Pakistan :) Common peeps almost always welcome you even if you are Indian. As far as the security is concerned, they will always treat foreigners with more scrutiny for their own and our security. Babusar top is no way near a restricted region. We do have these entry/ exit system/ checkposts at almost all entry exit points in the north or bordering regions. This also serves the purpose of identification in case if, may God forbid, any accident happens.
