They should rig up the first guy's (the one who the instructor told to look over the edge first) harness to jolt forward a bit to make it look like his harness failed. It would definitely scare the bejeebers out of the participants and of course the guy would be a plant (an employee) or be in on it...
But I guess some events I can think of in toronto during august would be the CNE( Canadian National Exhibition) thats usually a lot of fun. There is also the toronto beer festival ;-D. For some stuff that isn't right downtown, there are some more relaxed hangouts @ hookah bars in vaughan , desert "nites" is especially good.
As in family oriented stuff or what I'm not sure what you're looking for. Toronto is like any other big city you can find whatever you're looking for. If you're the type you could get a classy call girl for an hour for the same price as this edge walk :-D.
