A. Cloud Strife in the original game was not an emo. If anything he was a snarky jerk. The reason he has such a memorable and enduring legacy is similar to most heroic and iconic protagonists. He is flawed, makes many mistakes, has experienced trauma and joy, and often times is pushed into and pulled out of situations by friends and companions, without whom he would not have made it very far. Some examples would be Harry Potter, Naruto Uzumaki, and Wade Watts. These things make a character relatable and empathetic to us viewers.
More than 20 Years Later after many and many new final fantasy games, spin offs, new consoles, better graphics and CLOUD STILL REMAINS THE MOST POPULAR CHARACTER AND FINAL FANTASY VII REMAINS THE ABSOLUTE FAN FAVORITE OF THE SERIES WORLD WIDE: Thats when you know a story had impact and its characters touched millions. Nothing less than Epic.
To be fair, cloud, the weak, sought to become like Sephiroth, the ubermensch, who felt different than everyone at birth, but still was better and played the roll. 5 years prior to the beginning, said roll model discovers both his origin and clouds were from the same place, one of shame and the other of reveali g torment so he burned it down, injuring and killing the others cherished ones, resulting in a confrontation of the angered weak and the deluded strong in a fight where everyone should have died and no one should know the story. The entire plot of the game happens before it starts and you are playing the aftermath, where the hero failed his dream and the villian already dead. Then it gets fleshed out later in a doomsday situation. The premise of the game itself is great already. The nomura said hold my beer.

Cloud suffered from severe mako poisoning and that did a whole number of things to his mental state, he is not emo. Unfortunately the AC era of ff7 did alot to ruin Clouds character by regressing him and making him continually blame himself for Aeriths death. If you look at it from just the original game and even the remakes perspective he is clearly not the moody guy they changed him into.

Honestly it wouldn't surprise me if there are a lot of people who've played Kingdom Hearts but not Final Fantasy 7. Or who played KH first and FF7 later. So that will probably form their impression of who Cloud is.
Final Fantasy Gamer it’s funny because squall is actually more emo than cloud yet nomura decided to switch the personalities. I remember playing ff7 and watching an lp of 8 and I was confused on how they switched the characters.
@@conected True, it's almost like the second they actually have him a voice they decided that he should become more Twilight than Final Fantasy. Hopefully that's going to change now with the remake.
Easy defense for anyone calling Cloud an Emo: "Oh yeah? Then why were there several spin-offs, a movie, and the eventual remake of the original title which has so much story, it has to be released in parts which are full games in and of themselves?" I still find it funny that Aerith managed to survive her first game in which she starred in.
As you learn to know Cloud you realise his life is one unfortubate mess and he is unlikely to stay sane with the contradicting thoughts in his mind and somehow get himself together. He is weak but still he gets to win all the fights that matter. This struggle is a very typical one that most of us go through in life. I think thats what makes him so relateable
The game is really good. I think it's less about Cloud and more about character dynamics... And the overall cohesion of the planet and life themes. Mako energy, The Shinra, Materia and Jenova are in my opinion the most important parts of the game. The overworld was like a globe too. It's a well designed game... Cid and Vincent are way better characters. I think that anyway... Cloud is cool because he learns that it's important to cherish every moment because in the blink of an eye, Sephiroth can take a lot away. Sephiroth definitely compliments clouds character. Also Omnislash.
When it come to characters in all of video games, I don't know why Cloud always ended up at the top of the list to me. I always knew it was his aesthetic but this video made it even more clear as to why he's my favorite. Thanks.
Well he is my favorite even though I didnt play the original I skipped right in to the Dissidia original then crisis core and finally watching advent children...pretty much I know the story and history of Cloud without playing the original
well by the end of ff7 i'd say that with the exeption of sephiroth the other soldiers wouldn't be able beat him anymore, i have to say you resumed him quite well otherwise, also as a teenager ifeel quite close to cloud in his doubts and flaws.
I believe that cloud strife is sephiroth's greatest fear and he knows it but cloud doesn't know about it because he's equipped the same jenova cells(type-s) as sephiroth does unlike others...he's just don't have any papers to prove that he's strong enough to beat anyone...but he should improve himself
Sefirot / O Fortuna - Those Who Fight - Cry Freedom. Viva Las Vegas. Mother Nature - the all consuming planet - Earth. It's our story 😉Why they try to get us to social distance.
*BUT nobody is more emo then Vincent* Vincent makes Cloud look as happy as Arthur walking down the street in the intro to the show. Cloud went to midgar to make some money while Vincent hid in a coffin. The story to Vincent's ps2 game is a soap opera
I don’t care what anyone says’ Final Fantasy 7 is the best Final Fantasy game for me!! I absolutely loved it and I love the remake too. Thank You Square for making such a masterpiece!
I didn’t know much about cloud before watching this video so thank you and have you seen any of the final fantasy movies I personally like the newer one?
Instead of hating, people should keep in mind that Cloud wasted 4 years of his adolescence because of SOLDIER and amnesia. Imagine a zoomer wasting a great deal of his adolescence, youth, etc fighting for his country and ending up being psychologically affected like Rambo. Then again! What do you haters care?!
This is less of an analysis and more of a recounting everything we already know lmao and you said he will never be as good as a soldier wtf?? Stop putting out half assed videos to capitalize on remake lol
I don't recall cloud choosing to be anyone else, when Tifa meets Cloud he has no memories of himself instead every single memory cloud has are Tifa's memories of Cloud.
I think cloud didn't remember anything apart from the last time he recovered from MAKO poisoning and sees Zack ( a first class soldier) lying down to his death and telling Cloud that he will be his Legacy. In where Zack gave cloud the Buster Sword as a symbol of all great SOLDIER fallen before him. He might thought he is a first class Soldier instead of a regular shinra infantry basing on what Zack change he's attire and the the last person he had talk with that died defending him. He then take that debt in his heart to revenge Zack from SHinra Electric Company that leads him later to work with avalanche. Tifa help him to remember anything from his past.
o my biggest gripe with ff7 is why do people tend to ignore the full story from Before Crisis to Dirge of Cerberus and only think the main ff7 game is god tier of a story/game i my self prefer the whole thing as a whole and/or the other games more because of it opens the world of what ff7 was supposed to be and full in a lot of stories that if you just played ff7 main you wouldn't even know of or understand I think before crisis and crisis core full in a lot of missing stories that wasn't even answer in the main game like why cloud acted like zack damn near 90 % of the game and why Sephiroth snapped mentally the why he did or even Vincent whole storyline intertwining with sephiroth's like even the scene with Aerith when shes with cloud in the playground and when cloud says he was first class she goes "Oh just like him" HOW THE FUCK WOULD YOU EVEN KNOW WHO SHE IS TALKING ABOUT ! people just seem to overhype cloud where it really would even be a charter if it wasn't for the steps that Angel and Zack had, the damn buster sword isn't even originally his it Angels family heirloom cause in advent children he said it himself when he went back to the spot that Zack died at he said I have to make memories for myself and find who I am..
You do know, FF7 came first before all those titles you listed here right? When FF7 was released, FF7 was all there is, nothing else, so... don't be stupid.
@@gaspenpayne6755 im not being stupid i do know it came first it came ass backwards like starwars did that why the creator went back and filled in the word and story more with what is called world building so ething writers like myself know about when working on a story if his original plan was to have a while world in the first place but start us dead ass smack in the middle of it why did he way so long to fleash out the world with other games just to further the plot of the story instead of giving us oh hey ff7 2 or ff7 3 ..becuase when the original one was made he didnt think of that or how popular ff7was going to become

@@Killer_Kris7 that still doesn't change the fact that he didn't realize it till damn near the end of the game where Tifa had to help him remember who he was, so my point still stand he was 90% posing as Zack thru most of the game fact 1 : if you played Crisis Core when Zack meets cloud for the first time in the back of the truck as he introduced himself and literally said I from niblehelm the same home as zack and this was my first mission as a foot soldier point two when he first meets sephiroth is after zack attack him and he goes and picks up the buster sword and stabs him note at this time sephiroth is already mentally broken something that in the base ff7 game you don't even know of besides a flashback

Anyone saying cloud is moody during FF7 has only seen him in Kingdom Hearts
Honestly it wouldn't surprise me if there are a lot of people who've played Kingdom Hearts but not Final Fantasy 7. Or who played KH first and FF7 later. So that will probably form their impression of who Cloud is.
Final Fantasy Gamer it’s funny because squall is actually more emo than cloud yet nomura decided to switch the personalities. I remember playing ff7 and watching an lp of 8 and I was confused on how they switched the characters.
This is the biggest issue with cloud, hes great in FF7, but his depictions on other SE games have mostly been that
@@conected True, it's almost like the second they actually have him a voice they decided that he should become more Twilight than Final Fantasy.
He's a hard character
Thanks.
Great video. I've never played any of the Final Fantasy games but looks pretty cool
4:33 I don’t think Cloud is exactly an “Unreliable Narrator”, since those events did happen for real. He just thought Zack’s memories were also his
Cloud is so nice, they created him 3x. (In the form of Cloud, Zack, and Lightning 😅)
Lets not forget zack told cloud to become the living legacy.
Great video man! Theres so many misunderstanding about Cloud recently and your video hits the point.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!
Well he is my favorite even though I didnt play the original I skipped right in to the Dissidia original then crisis core and finally watching advent children...pretty much I know the story and history of Cloud without playing the original
Cloud is definitely top 5 best final fantasy characters
well by the end of ff7 i'd say that with the exeption of sephiroth the other soldiers wouldn't be able beat him anymore, i have to say you resumed him quite well otherwise, also as a teenager ifeel quite close to cloud in his doubts and flaws.
It’s so weird how mgs 5 had the exact same plot twist as ff7
reason why i love cloud strife : he's my 2nd fake husband😍
I believe that cloud strife is sephiroth's greatest fear and he knows it but cloud doesn't know about it because he's equipped the same jenova cells(type-s) as sephiroth does unlike others...he's just don't have any papers to prove that he's strong enough to beat anyone...but he should improve himself
He’s a WHAT
sussy
Yet people like tidus over cloud. A jock who has very little personality simply being a typical isikai'd shounen protagonist
Sefirot / O Fortuna - Those Who Fight - Cry Freedom. Viva Las Vegas. Mother Nature - the all consuming planet - Earth. It's our story 😉Why they try to get us to social distance.
So.... Clouds sus?!?!
*BUT nobody is more emo then Vincent* Vincent makes Cloud look as happy as Arthur walking down the street in the intro to the show. Cloud went to midgar to make some money while Vincent hid in a coffin. The story to Vincent's ps2 game is a soap opera
That's true, sleeping in a coffin in the basement of an old mansion is pretty damn moody...
I don’t care what anyone says’ Final Fantasy 7 is the best Final Fantasy game for me!! I absolutely loved it and I love the remake too. Thank You Square for making such a masterpiece!
I see Cloud, i see 'impostor', i click
Learned something new today :) thank you!
Good to hear!
I didn’t know much about cloud before watching this video so thank you and have you seen any of the final fantasy movies I personally like the newer one?
Thanks for watching 👍 do you mean Advent Children, or Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV?
Kingsglaive, I didn’t know about advent children
@@Djscartoonuniverse ah right. You should check out Advent Children if you get a chance.
His name is SePHiroth not SeTHiroth
I adore Cloud Strife he is handsome
Good lord look at those views! before long cloud strife himself will watch it , in fact he might use multiple accounts to like it multiple times
Well that would be good! The more likes the better haha.
Lol Cloud aint an emo, Squall tho...
Pronounce your TH's properly please
Impostor? AMONG US
I don't recall cloud choosing to be anyone else, when Tifa meets Cloud he has no memories of himself instead every single memory cloud has are Tifa's memories of Cloud.
Nice vid man keep it up bro. You should do one vid for each FF7 character before the Remake
Thanks 😀 that's a good idea. Thinking of maybe doing one on Sephiroth or Jenova next
dunno how much you paid for that ad, but god damn im glad you did. good shit sir
Thank you, I appreciate it! :D
I do say, Cloud is acting quite dubious. I recommend we parlay and come to democratic election that results in his quick retirement.
A very interesting video and analyze of Cloud
Thanks!
Wow i don't anyone who doesn't like Cloud. He's a great and flawed character.
Sethirof 🤣
The FF VII footage at the one minute mark is from am accolade trailer for the game and I could never find it.
Does anyone know where I can view it?
Here's a link ruclips.net/video/TEN-p5e2WkM/видео.html
@@FF-Gamr Thank you SO MUCH!!
@@forresthunter1483 you're welcome 👍
Stop saying SETHeroth. Th ph is there for a reason
I'll bet no one can guess who the real savior of the planet is in Final Fantasy 7.
Can anyone please tell me if i can play the classic Final Fantasy 1 2 3 4 5 6 games on the Playstation 4?
sUs
Impostor is the wrong word for this he has altered memories
Tifa help him to remember anything from his past.
no
In CC Why was cloud a regular minion gun dude
From the Suster Bword to Buster Sword.
An imposter you say?
Impostor...
I really do love Cloud, but Zack is my favorite character.
o my biggest gripe with ff7 is why do people tend to ignore the full story from Before Crisis to Dirge of Cerberus and only think the main ff7 game is god tier of a story/game i my self prefer the whole thing as a whole and/or the other games more because of it opens the world of what ff7 was supposed to be and full in a lot of stories that if you just played ff7 main you wouldn't even know of or understand I think before crisis and crisis core full in a lot of missing stories that wasn't even answer in the main game like why cloud acted like zack damn near 90 % of the game and why Sephiroth snapped mentally the why he did or even Vincent whole storyline intertwining with sephiroth's like even the scene with Aerith when shes with cloud in the playground and when cloud says he was first class she goes "Oh just like him" HOW THE FUCK WOULD YOU EVEN KNOW WHO SHE IS TALKING ABOUT !
people just seem to overhype cloud where it really would even be a charter if it wasn't for the steps that Angel and Zack had, the damn buster sword isn't even originally his it Angels family heirloom
cause in advent children he said it himself when he went back to the spot that Zack died at he said I have to make memories for myself and find who I am..
@@gaspenpayne6755 so no im not stupid u just need to jump off the ff7 coattail and realize that final fantasy as a whole are good games not just 7
@@zuniversemangacompany6516 i'm not calling you stupid, i'm just saying what you said was stupid, because FF7 came first and got popular by itself without the other titles you mentioned.
NO a lot of people don't like him i.e. me because the cloud is no character, he is just a carbon copy of Zack's story until advent children when you see his character
Excuse me? He realizes he isn't Zack later in ff7 and he is STILL cracking jokes. Shut up
@@Killer_Kris7 that still doesn't change the fact that he didn't realize it till damn near the end of the game where Tifa had to help him remember who he was, so my point still stand he was 90% posing as Zack thru most of the game
fact 1 : if you played Crisis Core when Zack meets cloud for the first time in the back of the truck as he introduced himself and literally said I from niblehelm the same home as zack and this was my first mission as a foot soldier
point two when he first meets sephiroth is after zack attack him and he goes and picks up the buster sword and stabs him
note at this time sephiroth is already mentally broken something that in the base ff7 game you don't even know of besides a flashback
@@zuniversemangacompany6516 I played crisis core. Cloud is a great character and a brave person. He is human and he has human emotions. He was fucked up because of the experiments done to him. So that should explain it
@@Killer_Kris7 yes he did have experiments done to him so did every other soldier in Shinra did so if you like him you would also like zack as well because he posed as him
@@zuniversemangacompany6516 I love both of them. Except Cloud was a Shinra grunt. And something happened in the experiments to make Cloud have Zack's memories
he has an iconic limt break omnislash, which is attacking blindly toward opponents. he has a famous arch enemy, Sephitoth. she has a woman who is considered one of the most iconic women in the gaming world, Tifa. He has an interesting background story. etc
I wonder how Omnislash will look in the Remake. Given the new battle mechanics maybe it would work better if it was similar in style to the one seen in Advent Children. Either way we're not going to be seeing it for a while, sadly.
@@FF-Gamr It would be awesome to see it animated him flash stepping around the battle field Ichigo Kurosaki style while slicing his opponent to ribbons.
