HOW TO play Happy Birthday on Ukulele | EASY Tutorial (3 Chords)

- Greetings! In this video we will learn how to play Happy Birthday ok ukulele. Make sure that your instrument is tuned and let’s get started.
For most of the song, we will only need chords F and C7. Later in the song we will also use chord Bb (B flat).
Here’s some information about Happy Birthday
"Happy Birthday to You", also known as "Happy Birthday", is a song traditionally sung to celebrate the anniversary of a person's birth. According to the 1998 Guinness World Records, it is the most recognized song in the English language. The song's base lyrics have been translated into at least 18 languages.The melody of "Happy Birthday to You" comes from the song "Good Morning to All", which has traditionally been attributed to American sisters Patty and Mildred J. Hill in 1893, although the claim that the sisters composed the tune is disputed.”

Since the Bb chord is the hardest chord to play, then you can completely eliminate it while everyone is singing the person's name, and thus use only use F and C7 to play the entire song. A sneaky trick, but what the heck, no one will notice, right?

I picked out my first ukulele when shopping with my dad for my bday about 10 days ago (around 1 wk after my actual bday). I practiced learning a few chords and then this song on and off the last few days and played it for him today. I loved that I got to use the gift he got me as part of his gift. My B flat and chord transitioning is getting a little better. I heard my dad a little later talking on the phone with my brother and saying how I had played him a song with the Uke he got me. It made me smile. Thanks for the great explanations/lessons!

Hey Bernadette, I know this video was two years ago but I just came across it yesterday. Practised on the day of and played during my birthday celebration. Aside from rhythm and an ok sound for Bb, for a beginner, I did well and am really proud of myself. Your style of teaching makes it easy to learn and I'm having the most fun with music through this precious instrument that can bring so much joy to people. So thank you so sooo much.
