Wow! Love the sangria floral print fabric. Your Ermine blouse is going to look great in that fabric. Glad you got your voice back and had a nice holiday with your family! Always enjoy your chats 😊
Can't wait for the weekend video of that dress. I am looking for a pattern for an everyday/picnic dress and I don't like gathering across my belly. This looks like the best of both worlds. The blouse is going to be lovely in that flowy floral. It should be cool but provide sun protection through the summer. I love your body warmer. I find a warm vest is a very practical 3 season garment. I went through a bag making jag a few years ago and made some pleated purses, a couple of totes and 2 different backpacks. So fun to choose unique upholstery fabrics and add your own special touches. Have fun with it!
I really like the feature of the flat front of the Saraste dress too, I think it’s a really nice style with the gathering just around the sides and back. Thank you I am looking forward to trying out the blouse. I love a bodywarmer for layering too, so useful. I’m really excited to give bag making a go. Pleated purses and backpacks sound like fun projects! I love the idea of giving those sort of items a try too, fingers crossed I’ll get on ok with my first foray in this area! Thanks for watching 😊
Hi Cath! Two weeks is a long time, I'm glad to see you're back! Also, terrible to hear you lost your voice...Thank goodness you got it back! It would be a shame if you couldn't continue recording vlogs - unless you mime your way through the video😆. Your hair looks lovely, I love the curls. I enjoyed this vlog and I love your dress. Looking forward to hearing about the Saraste dress too. The half elastic waist sounds interesting. Thank you so much for sharing, I'm also looking forward to your Me Made May!!
Thank you so much, I’m so glad my voice didn’t take too long to come back too! Thanks I’m really glad to have got my hair done 😊 Fab that’s really nice to know you’ll be joining me for my memademay videos. Thank you! 😊
I really enjoy your vlogs.I didn't know you could have additional information for the Fibre Mood patterns ,so thanks for that.love your fabric and wool and I am looking forward to seeing them made up.
Hi Cath, you'll love making the bag I'm sure 👌... I actually started my sewing journey making bags and then went on to sewing garments. I guess you've done it the other way around 😁. It's very satisfying and I'm sure you'll want to make more after this one 👍. Noodlehead do some great patterns don't they 💝. Really looking forward to seeing yours finished. Loving the look of the Ermine blouse too...can't wait to see how you get on with everything.... happy sewing Cath 😁💝😘
Thanks so much Sally. That’s really interesting that you started your sewing journey making bags! I’m really looking forward to giving bags a try. Yes the Noodlehead patterns look lovely, I found a few of them very tempting! Thanks I’m looking forward to sewing the Ermine blouse too. Thank you for watching 🥰💕
Lovely Darling Ranges! I've never gotten that pattern, but her patterns work really good for me, so will take yet another look! haha I've have that book since it was new, and yes, it's so lovely to read through again and again. I had the idea to sew through the book at one point, so I started with the bag. It's been in constant use for about 2 years and no problem to sew at all. I love how the interior is nicely finished and it has corners on the bottom. Thanks for sharing your makes!
Thank you very much, I really like the Darling Ranges pattern, I hope you enjoy it too if you sew to. That’s really good to know you found the Nummi bag ok to sew and you’ve got lots of use out of it. I like the look of it a lot so I will definitely think about trying it, it seems a shame not to since I’ve got the pattern already. I do like idea of bag making especially tote bags, they are so useful. Thank you!
@@madebycathcraft absolutely! Mine is a dark but lighter weight denim, and I used gold topstitching thread, so it has a 'jeans' look to it. Hope you go ahead with the Seraste (?) pattern! 😀
Oooh! The highlight for me was your knitting, I adore speckly wool like that and what you are doing with it. A hint for a future video: Tell us about your knitting needles? The brand, why you chose straight over circular, metal over wood etc? Surely it isn't just me who would love to hear about this. ❤
Thank you very much, I’m really enjoying knitting with the speckly wool, it’s lovely to see the different colours appear as flecks as I knit away. Thank you that’s a great idea for including in a future, I’d very happily chat about my knitting needles 😊
Debbie Shaw does lots of bag tutorials on you tube and has a book too. They range from easy to more intricate patterns. When you have made a couple they get easier once you have learnt the basic construction. Hope this helps
Lovely makes. I have made a load of the Numi bags as gifts. I added internal pockets. My machine is quite a powerful one and as a result did not struggle with the seams. The bag you chose as an alternative looks just lovely. Must make something other than the bag from this book! If you have a directional print, you just need to add a seam at bottom. Lovely canvas fabric, so pretty
That’s great to know you’ve found the Nummi bag pattern good and found the seams went ok. I wonder if my machine would be ok with them. I’m really looking forward to trying a bag pattern. A handmade bag is a great idea for a gift too, I will bear that in mind for the future. Thank you, I am really looking forward to sewing with the canvas fabric 😊
Thank you very much! I really love how the bodywarmer turned out 😊 Oh fab thank you, that’s a great tip re Merchant & Mills bag patterns, I will definitely check them out!
Hi Cath, lovely chatty video, so natural :) I really like the look of the Ermine blouse for my DIL, (right up her street). Look forward to hearing about the pattern and the making of it x Debbie p.s. Your hair looks lovely :)
Thank you so much 😊 I’m really looking forward to trying the Ermine blouse, I’ll definitely update on how I get on with it. Ahh thank you, it was so nice to have my hair done 😊 x
Lovely video this week as always and hair looks great - it's nice to have you back after the Easter holidays! I did wonder if you ever block your knitting? I have only heard about it recently and I'm still trying to work out how necessary and/or beneficial it would be.
Thank you very much 😊 I haven’t blocked my knitting to date. I’ve always been a bit nervous about it and have been fairly happy with how my garments look & wear without blocking. I am considering getting a blocking kit and giving it a try though as I’ve seen lots of people seem to recommend it.
That is too bad that you had laryngitis on your vacation. It’s tough being sick when you are away from home. I think your hair looks lovely and your chambray dress is too.
Thank you so much, yes it was bad timing with the laryngitis. Thank you it was really nice to get my hair done finally and to wear one of my dresses after a week of wearing mostly jeans and jumpers on holiday! 😊
You look so lovely today ❤️ I think I finally need to make my Darling Ranges dress. I've been busy sewing for my little ones, but I need to make time to sew that up!
Making a bag out of old jeans is on my make 9 but I'm not sure if my poor machine can handle all the layers. I was thinking of piecing together scraps for the lining. I might have to hand sew quite a bit of it 😬
I love all speckled wool and that one that you are using, is particularly pretty. I'm about to start a cardigan with cream wool speckled with brown and rust, but I'd love to find wool in your colours. I just have to find a plain pattern for worsted weight wool. I have a few saved on my tablet, but not sure yet if there is something suitable. I wonder if they sell Mari wool in Canada? I'll have to look around.
Thank you very much, I am really enjoying knitting with the speckled wool and seeing the different coloured specks appear as I knit. I think We Are Knitters might ship to Canada.
Hi Elaine, thank you I’m really looking forward to trying sewing a bag and I’ll definitely report back in future vlogs about how I’m getting on. Thanks for watching 😊

Taking knitting away is a great idea! Like you, I can’t be idle 😉 the cardigan is going to be lovely, the little flecks in the wool look so great
Thank you very much! Glad it’s not just me on the not being able to just sit still front. I think my husband despairs sometimes 😄
Looking forward to seeing your makes from this video! 🤗🙋🏻♀️♥️
Thank you very much 🥰💕

Hi Cath, Really liked the dress you were wearing and the mid-week chat as always. By the way, I really enjoy the music you play for your channel!
Hi Janiece, thank you very much! That’s great to know about the music too, thanks for letting me know 😊
