I like how cops get v6 imapalas but we american people get V8 SS Impalas lmao i love how police in a million years will never get V8 Hellcat chargers or V8 Impalas as a sqaud car lmao I love it cause they dont deserve it
Chevy Impala Police Package came in three versions: the 9C1 for patrol use , the Impala Limited for non law enforcement use and the 9C3 a police car underneath and a civilian car appearance package. Police Departments up in the Northeast loved them especially in the winter months.. The package was available from 2001 until 2018.
Impalas are so underrated. Sure they are no Toyota reliable, but they are good solid cars for what they are. I've had mine for almost 7 years now. Just hit 80,000 miles. Zero problems other than little cheap GM plastic parts that need to be replaced every now and then in the interior and a leaky sunroof. Other than that, the car still looks an feels as it did. I've got the 3.6 with the 6 speed. For me that is good enough as I don't usually keep cars more than 5 years. Thank you for not talking crap about it.
I use a 2009 chevy impala for running lyft and doordash that's a former detective car. In way better shape then this one. It had 133k Last year. Now has 166k. Great car so far cheap to run and cheap and easy to fix anything. Lots of space great car.
Nothing like a crown Vic but I’d drive that thing till the wheels fall off. As long as it was a secondary car. My girlfriend had a 2010 impala and I had my 09 Vic P71 when we met….. now, the impala is long gone and the Vic runs better now than when we met. Oh and she now owns my vic, I had to get myself another one, so I got myself a fully equipped K9 car. Lights, sirens, dog cage, the whole kit. Would love to have Scotty go over my car and tell me if it’s worth what I paid for it. I paid $1600 then put a built transmission in for $2377. I must say it gets a lot of attention at cars and coffee, plus my dog loves it. So Scotty, if you see this, I’d love to bring my car to you. I’ve had the new transmission for 4 days now and it’s simply amazing.
Another good thing about the Impala is they are built very well as far as crashes go. We had a 2008 Impala that same body style someone went left at center and hit my wife in an offset head on collision there was no damage hardly at all to the passenger compartment they had her checked out because she was due to give birth to our child two days later plus she had two of our other kids in the car none of them were injured which was fairly impressive for an offset head-on crash was about a 40 to 45 mile an hour impact speed I thought that was fairly impressive
logo from the Transformers movie...the police car. Along the sides of Zhijun's car are the words “Decepticons: punish and enslave,” as well as “9-1-1.”.
Very true. The venerable Crown Vic fell victim to new federal regulations and Ford pulled the plug. Too bad. Best police car ever. The new Explorer police interceptors are excellent but it remains to be seen if they will last like the Crown Vic.
I bought a NYPD black 2006 impala 3.9 for 3000$ with 65k miles in 2011 as a my first car. It’s was a smooth ride, good gas miles in highway poor gas miles in the city , response transmission but long gears for example 55 mph on first gear ,no traction control means that you can do front wheel burnout easy on dry or wet road . Best thing other drivers don’t harass you here in nyc when you drive cop car . My car blew up like to 2 radiator and they costed me like 400$ each time.transmission rebuild one time 1100. It’s a fun first car but you be a lot on mechanics shop . Or u can fixed your self we have our teachers Scotty . Now I drive 2014 impala ltz with 2.5 engine. I put on 186000 miles OEM engine and transmission. This car 1000s time better than the old police car.
Great video, Scotty! This afternoon I’m installing a new camshaft synchronizer on my ‘04 Mustang. Thank you for all of your help as I learn to keep my car running smooth on my own.
I owned an 09 Impala police car with the spotlights and pushbar.... Everyone is polite.... They don't cut you off, they let you pull out.... It really is shockingly different driving around. This was in Florida about 2012, so the Impalas were still in service. I've never gone back. I now drive a FPIU and love it.
Any patrol car is worth nearly zero. If it was an unmarked police car it was likely driven by detectives or supervisors and treated gently. But any patrol car is more than likely thrashed and beaten to death.
@@AK-rq1cz not so much a problem. The Ford crown vics had much upgraded engine and tranny cooling. The only way they'd overheat was running them without coolant. I've known of pursuits of over 80 miles over 100 MPH and no problem except running out of gas.
Love Scotty's advice...... I grew up listening/watching him here and there.... That's how long he's been doing this..... He has helped me out with soooo much..... DON'T STOP SCOTTY!!!!
BMW - just connect an intelligent battery charger to the charging points under the hood. Then you can change the battery with no issue. I use a Ceteck 4.3. GM is building an addition to their plant in Spring Hill, to install a new Cadillac all electric car production line.
I can't wait for electric Cadillacs. This is going to be hilarious. They'll be making the only electric car on the planet that's less reliable than an Alpha Romeo.
I had a 2008 Impala police. 3.9 239hp. The best engine for this body and I believe the last year for this body style is 2012 with the 305hp V6 they used in the Camaro.
The inside lock switches don't work so that people won't escape, the Crown Vics were the cop car to buy, my agency put 150 k on ours, and only the oil was changed
I think people ask him to review their cars. Some other RUclipsrs use that system as well and part of that is the no indemnity contract. The contract removes liability from Scotty when that does happen.
That is a 9c1 or 9c3. It should have the updated fan relay kit. The stock 1's could not handle it. 3.9 v-6 it is based off of the old 2.8 3.1 3.4 3.5 v-6's. Had a tone of them for 8 + yrs w/ the county. Keep it up
I just use a jumper battery, to keep it powered, while changing the battery. I found the smaller ones can time out, so it would have to be quick. Or use the bigger jump pack that is on until you turn it off. Just don't let it short out, while working on it.
I had one for a while. Mercury Grand Marquis. I think I should have replaced the tires: plenty of tread but no grip. Eventually it went into a spin on wet pavement on I-95 where there were rails in the narrow median and collision with the rails totaled it. I think I might still have it had if I’d had replaced the tires. Better gas mileage than my current 4-cylinder Honda CR-V.
Trust me Scotty. The rear door locks don't need to be pulled out, they don't work. I bought my 08 in 12, and it's been nothing but trouble. I miss the old GM.
@@MitchSevenMusic yeeehawww🤠. That there is some Hilly Billy einjinuety!! I did custom switches in my 4x4. But I custom made a panel that mounted the sunglasses holder in the roof liner. I also used quality automotive switches designed for the job, but that is just me 🤷♂️

Owning a retired police vehicle is like owning a van. Your buddies will think it is cool but your girl and most other girls will not like it at all. The other problem with owning a former cop car is someone bought the car in bulk so they made decisions about the car while looking at a spread sheet instead of the car. The car will be the basest model if its a patrol car with a few added police parts. So if you get one spend the extra money and get a car designated for a higher ranking officer. A guy in my town has two Caprice, one is a base model patrol cruiser and one was a Lieutenant Detective Police Pursuit Vehicle and its a unicorn. Six liter LS comparable V8 engine slightly tuned up, upgrades everywhere. The patrol cruiser is worth about 20% of what the Pursuit Vehicle is but you can hardly believe they are the same car.
If you use that battery saver when you change out your battery you probably don't want the red positive that you removed off of your battery contacting ground.
I paid about $2600 for my ex-Border Patrol Taurus and it had a very fast V6 Cologne 24V DOHC. The rest of the car was junk, but the engine was tops. Too bad Ford monkeed that up as well :( But "Free" is good!

All I noticed was the kitten chewing on the light bar.
Perfect car for unruly kids😆
