I don't assume he lived just because of what seemed to be a successful chute deployment . Looping hang gliders killed two of my personal friends between 1981 and 1983. The learning curve is a real bitch .
as the Russian proverb says - "forewarned is(means) forearmed." better to know loads limits for every part of adventure - to explore emergency in most safe learning conditions... I'm wondering - how many pilots of early wingsuit - inventors - died because of not perfect test design of suit - it even was prohibited by laws in europe - to continue that deadly researches - but brave inventors was not so stupid - to hear forcing of incorrect lawmakers care - and they was flying tests and died again, even without any kind alcohol or geroin - which also cause doubtable goverment care about "flying people", and finaly win! made good enough design of wingsuit - that in use till now... after time - we can see and understand - only water and parasut meaningfull in such tests - no need for any kind of fines or jail time

That always throws me off. anyway he rapidly changes the angle of attack and his head slips past the control bar within a fraction of a second before collapse! I'm not sure if anything changes with his hang distance during the incident but it looks to me like if he hadn't cleared the bar it may have crushed his throat😬.

I don't think such a speed and force is really needed to loop as it imposes a great load on the structure. I started by doing well coordinated wing overs... nevertheless I DO NOT recommend aerobatics. Unless you are a millionaire with several wings, two reserve chutes and a death wish....
Carbon fiber base bar split in half.. i think aluminum base bar should have been a bit more stronger.. and wouldn't snap ..it might have bended but not split.. it looks like the moment that base bar snapped, theose down tubs are still looking fine .. i cal it carbon fiber base bar failure.. . . . . . Jk.. The base bar seem to be on one piece just right after the wing collapse..
As of 2021 there's not one single hang glider in the world certified for aerobatics. Pilots who attempt these maneouvers are just looking for trouble and don't do any good to this sport. I find it very foolish

I'm a 15 year trike pilot and I have a ballistic parachute. I didn't always but I do now. The wings are very strong but things happen. There are many times when coming straight down is preferable to gliding in forward. Like over a forest or bad terrain. Another one is if you felt like you were going to pass out or you may be having a heart attack. You have to know when to use it though. There are some that aren't that expensive. I'd get one that's rocket powered or one of the newer air powered ones. The advantage is the chute is pulled out of it's container and the shroud lines are fully extended. This reduces the chances of entanglement with the aircraft over a hand thrown chute. The time for complete opening of the chute is also greatly reduced over a hand thrown chute. Fly safely my friends! DDDave

The guy was doing loops and sped the glider past its critical speed and maybe g forces. He destroyed it by his own stupidity. They are not designed for this kind of forces. He was lucky to end up alive, the water helped some too.👎
@@ClaysOnRUclips lol no, not a cross wind. Hanggliders are rated for about 6G's positive, however it's very easy to exceed that in a loop if not done perfectly. He pulled on too much speed, and let it out too quickly. It's really not a great idea to do aerobatics in hanggliders.

Without a boat on hand, he’d most likely have drowned. Very difficult to escape unless you can cut your harness away from the hang loop.
