Agree. Gwyneth IS pretty insufferable but yes, she was correct. And not knowing much about it, she overspent on things that 1) she was probably used to and 2) she probably didn't think were luxury items. And honestly? They SHOULDN'T be considered luxury items, but they are. (Shoot, a store I often go to to recently had a big bag of fresh cherries for about 60% off and I thought I'd hit a jackpot!)
I also don't blame Bill Gates much. He wasn't trying to brag or or humble-brag. He genuinely didn't know the price of things. Shoot, my dad wasn't rich but since my mom did most of the grocery shopping after they stopped going to the military commissary together, he underestimated how much things actually cost, estimating them to be the price that they were, maybe a decade earlier, and couldn't understand why she was spending so much.

Yeah, I have chronic illness & have to stay home in bed most of the time, so for me, Covid was pretty much life as usual & all these people were complaining about not going out, etc. And I'm thinking, you still have the internet, books, movies - it's not that big of a deal. I know video chats aren't the same as being together, but it really sounded like they've never been through any real challenges in their life. Plus, I believe if you're bored it's your own fault. You can always find things to do.
But of course, everyone who really suffered financially or had loved ones die, & the healthcare workers went through a lot & it was very serious and difficult. However most of the ones complaining were about trivial things.
But I thought the celebrities making a song or other videos was nice. If someone does something out of kindness, we should accept it in the spirit it's given.

People were losing their homes because they had lost their jobs.
So some of them didn't have baths anymore.
And more than that, it's what she said. She called COVID an equalizer. COVID was not an equalizer.
Rich people, or even just people who could work remotely, could stay home with relatively no risk. Poor people were grocery store clerks getting paid $10/hr to be surrounded by people all day, including customers and even coworkers who often took the pandemic unseriously.
I worked in a Target at the time. The number of people I had to interact with wearing a mask incorrectly, or taking it OFF to sneeze/cough? I should've gotten hazard pay.
Not to mention that 60% of my coworkers didn't wash their hands regularly (even before eating) and would rip off their masks as soon as they got to the back rooms.
Teenagers and 40yos alike. Some cared, some didn't.
I definitely wasn't thinking about milky flower baths when that was happening. I was thinking about how I was putting my own health at risk to pay bills.

I didn't get to sit around in my bath tub singing songs...I was considered essential! So NO it wasn't the great equalizer that she thought it was!
