Thankyou amber it’s like meeting a friend a lovely natural manner you have and I so enjoyed all your vlogmas episodes I like your dad a very nice face xx
Amber, it was truly special to watch you share such kind words about my channel. Im so happy you enjoy my vlogs. Thank you so much! I'm so glad you're crocheting my Granny Stripes Shawl! I can't wait to see how it progresses. And yes, please listen to that feeling if you're not quite loving the colors. If you don't feel it, it's okay to start again - I'd do the same!
Hi Amber. Word of warning, in order to kill off moths by freezing, first the wool needs to be at room temperature (70 degrees Fahrenheit) and then the temperature has to get to, and more importantly STAY below zero Fahrenheit for at least 72 hours. The rapid change in temperature and the coldness is what kills them off. This is why moths can survive winter in an attic. It rarely gets cold enough fast enough to kill them off. Meanwhile, the freezer on your refrigerator never gets cold enough and what's more, in order to keep it frost free, it brings the contents up periodically. So, either use a deep freezer that is set below zero, or better yet, any yarn you are leery of can be put into hanks, tied off multiple places and then washed at a simmer to kill off the little buggers, including the eggs. I'm told you can heat the wool in the oven at 120 degrees Fahrenheit for at least 30 minutes, but I've no experience doing that and I don't know if dry wool would singe in an oven. I've never been brave enough to try it. :)
@ You’re welcome. It’s a common misconception because freezing will kill them under the right circumstances. The biggest problem is most people don’t have the sort of freezer that is set that low and stays there. People say “freeze it” and most of us think chucking it in the one in our kitchen will be sufficient. Oops.
It worked for me. I had a proper infestation. Didn't even keep it in the free fridge freezer my husband got for beer for more then a week each bag. It's been more then 5 years no sign of moths since then.
Love the marling on the DK socks - I am inspired to make some and use up scraps. Your Piper’s Journey shawl is lovely - I made one in 2012 and loved the process and the FO. You have reminded me of that and I think it is time to cast on another one. I miss Paula. She was a beautiful woman of faith who gave so much to her family and the knitting community. Thank you for taking the time to share here. X
The red shawl looks terrific with the red lip! I feel sure the older couple would not be offended to know you are redecorating. You are continuing something they loved and making it your own. That is beautiful.
Your shawl is beautiful. I remember knitting one years ago and really enjoying the process. Paula was a wonderful podcaster(audio), and I remember her fondly. It’s nice that her pattern lives on. I want to try the marled socks, yours turned out great.
It took me 7 years to finish a blanket for my husband. I have another blanket that is just one, big granny square that has been a wip for at least 4 years. I have also finished some blankets in a month, but that took dedicated speed knitting. 😄 It's nice to have a blend of long-term and "instant gratification" knits to give one options and to keep things interesting. Carry on! 🙂
It is nice to have a good mix of projects! I completely agree with you! Pulling out those blankets of mine only in the winter is a bit comforting, I have to say!
I just found you. Lovely video and great projects. I loved your Pipers Journey shawl. When I looked it up, proceeds from buying the pattern actually go to cancer research - the designer had ovarian cancer. That would be a great add-on to viewers. My best friend had ovarian cancer- so thank you, I am going to knit this in her memory, and it's helping others. Lovely video.
Thank you so much! I think I mentioned that in one of my episodes when I talk about that shawl. Maybe the second episode in which I discuss it? I wasn't aware of Paula's story either until several of my viewers left comments on my first video about it.
Your Vlogmas was wonderful! Thanks for sharing! I loved the thrifting, crafts, and family time. Looking forward to seeing what you are knitting this year.
I hope you have a happy and blessed new year. I love your podcasts. I’m glad you decided to keep working on that patchwork blanket. It is just beautiful! 🧶
The marled socks are so pretty! I definitely am inspired :) Hope you and your family enjoy the rest of the holiday season and best wishes for the new year!
The cozy memories blanket looks like a patchwork quilt! Definitely has vintage vibes. I like the idea of it being a baby blanket. So glad you decided to pick it up again. It is very pretty and colorful!
This was a super interesting vlog Amber . Glad you stayed with the cozy memories blanket and the socks for Lily turned out so nice. I was surprised and happy to see you had posted so soon after the holidays. Thanks much.
You have been the only podcaster I have followed from the beginning and to this day. What you share is wholesome and real. And you share your faith, which is wonderful. Your knitting is 💝🩵 which inspires.
Loved everything today. I appreciated your hair comment as I thought it was only me and wondered why this always happens and it does not seem to happen to others. So glad it is part of the process for us ladies with long hair. Happy Holidays and thank you for all your ideas for the New Year.
Loved your warm and encouraging vlog! Full of knitting, crafting, love and family! Delighted that you saw the beauty in your mitered squares blanket. They are wonderful projects to do a little here, and little there. Maybe it can be finished for a future grandchild? Lovely books! I also loved the thrifting trips. And Family art time. 😄❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🎉🎉🎉 Thank you for sharing with us! God Bless and Happy New Year ahead!
Loved catching up with you and your projects today! How fun that you get to be so inspired by color as you knit on projects you're loving! The blankets are beautiful and look so cozy and thanks for sharing the granny stripe shawl too!
I just wanted to pop in here to tell you that I truly appreciated your vlogmas videos. Thank you so much for taking the time to film and for sharing your life with us.❤
Holding a colored sock yarn double with a white is a wonderful idea and just what I will do with some thrifted balls of yarn that I have in my stash. Thank you so much for the inspiration!
Enjoyed this podcast! It kept me company as I worked on some embroidery! I too collect all kinds of crafting books, from knitting and crochet, to embroidery, painting, and more. I will for sure look into some of the books that you shared. I don't know if you can ever have enough books!! I also enjoy CrochetObjet! Her channel is fascinating, and I appreciate all the different areas of life that she shares! My husband and I even enjoyed the coconut ball recipe that she shared on her channel. I have purchased several of her crochet patterns, the granny shawl being one of them. I haven't started it yet, but I will definitely give some more thought to the kind of yarn colors I will use when making it! Many blessings to you and your sweet family in 2025!
Amber, you are truly AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love your channel. How do you find the energy to do all that you do, my dear? Am happy that you are going to continue working on that blanket. It is already lovely & will be gorgeous when done.
When I first saw your dollhouse I found one for free..kept for a year with lans to remodel ..but gave to a dear friend who will do wonders with it! Yes..long term project!❤❤❤
I’m so glad you’ll keep at it with your blanket, it’s just so pretty! Home and Away and The Book of Yarn are two of my favourites books, too! While thrifting in early December I scored a beautiful Melanie Berg book of shawls and I’m still so giddy about it 😂 I love miniatures and can’t wait to see you making the house your own on the inside! This has all been so inspiring, thank you!
Hi, Amber; first I watched almost all of your Vlogmas and loved your episodes. You are such a calm, lovely Christian woman and you portray that as you speak to us. I am intrigued by all your good finds at thrift stores! I smiled at your greenhouse gift; my 11 year old granddaughter saw it on Amazon so I got it for her for Christmas; she was thrilled. I hope she is able to build it-probably with a little help from her parents! Those DK socks do look fabulous! Can’t wait to see what January brings from you!
Your knits are so lovely especially the ķnits for the family. I loved the Double Knitting socks. Pity about the red shawl leaching colour. I have a small collection of knitting books and I am aiming to buy a new one. I am late in commenting and now so peopled out and hopely after this week things will return to normal ❤😊
Enjoyed your vlogmas series this year. It has been such a busy December that I am looking forward to resting. Hope you are able to rest while enjoying those projects you have planned.
Loved this treat ,,, Amber 🎉🎉🎉 Such a treat after a busy 2 days,,, Love the marled dk socks,,,, I have used leftovers mohair. And the fingering weight yarn held together,,,,makes dk,,, Love the blankets,,,,, Elsine🎉🏠
I am in the baby blanket camp. The small modules suit a cot size blanket and it would look lovely with a plain knitted border to complete it. The colours are beautiful! Thanks for the tip on module size too, as I am yet to start a blanket, but certainly creating lots of bits n pieces to go into one 😊
First, I watched all of your Vlogmas and loved every bit of it! You are so inspiring and have a natural way of making us feel like we are talking with a dear friend. I love seeing what projects you are working on this winter. The cozy memories blanket is precious. I see you have decided to press on and that’s grand, I can also see it as an awesome baby blanket for a future grandchild. I have crocheted a ton of baby blankets and my favorite was made of circle motifs that looked like patchwork and were not of a typical baby colorway. I wish I had a picture but those days were before digital was available. (Showing my age)
Hi Lynn. You are so sweet! Thank you for all of your kind words and encouragement. Your baby blanket sounds delightful! I love patchwork style blankets!
So excited to make some DK weight socks now. I have some Regia and lots of other fingering weights and I just don't love knitting fingering weight socks. So now I have a plan!
Thank you for the word of warning about the red yarn. I have the same yarn in my 4 color Clint shawl. That’s great info to know! Watched every minute of Vlogmas, thanks again for doing it!!
Thanks for this full episode -- after a month of almost daily vlogs! Wow! I enjoyed seeing your mitred square blanket. I too have one in the works using scrap sock yarn -- and yes, my squares are on the small side too. I've not worked on it since last winter -- it's probably time to dig it out and do a couple more rows at least, as not long ago I sorted out my sock yarn remnants, weighed the balls and put anything 40 grams or less in a large bag to go toward this project! As for books, I too have an extensive library of textile craft books. I have all three of Clara Parke's "The Knitters Book of..." series: Yarn, Wool (breeds of sheep and their fleece and how they spin up and knit up -- plus patterns) and Socks. Yes...socks. I've made several of the patterns in that one, too. She talks about fit and the types of yarn best for socks etc. If you get a chance to track that one down, you might find it a worthwhile investment. 🙂
Hi Margaret! Yes, I have read the Wool book by Clara Parkes. I actually wouldn't mind adding that one to my personal collection. I think I borrowed it from the library a couple of years ago.
I'm using the Crazy Sock Lady pattern too at the moment, love it. Those colours for Lily's pair are lovely 😍😍You could use the patchwork blanket as your palette cleanser between other projects.
Love all your projects. You've lit a desire in me for some marled DK socks. I've also been seeing some marled DK mitt projects using the Marled Everything November Mitts pattern that I'm keen to try.
Thank you so much for your book recommendations. When they are resource books a few years old i have managed to find you recommendations and order off ebay! So much better value than single patterns off ravelry.
I started a cozy memories blanket with the small squares and it is languishing. I started another one with 30 stitches and I’m flying through it. The squares are about 6”. Makes all the difference!
i was surprised you did this vlog today after the vlogmas, but thanks! I am doing a memory blanket as well and usually do one or two squares on Sundays. I'm back at it after not doing it since october. Love that grannny shawl pattern!
Thank you for sharing your life with us during vlogmas. I totalled enjoed it. Especially the one about Kraynaks. That was a walk down memory lane for me. I am originally from Farrell Pa and that was always part of my going up.
Your Cozy Memories blanket would be a great start to making grandbaby items. It could be a special blanket to have at grandma's house. I really enjoy making blankets also, I also remember you started a crochet blanket from Attic 24, with squares!!
If you want bigger squares on your cosy memories blanket you could always use your existing blanket as the centre and knit a border of larger squares around the edge - cast on 72stitches and pick up along the edge of two squares.
Hello Amber! You could finish the square blanket using the small square that you already have for the center like a medallion. Then knit big square around the center. You could finish it faster, fewer ends... I you understand my idea, sorry, English is my second language.
When I started my memory blanket I decided from the get go to do dk weight and a cast on of 60 stitches. So 30 on each side. I also have decided to do sets of 4 squares. My plan is to mattress stitch the squares when I'm done. I've made so many blankets in general in my life that I know that I cannot stomach the thought of something big on my lap anymore. So modular is more my style. If I can make it modular. I will.
I have fallen hard for DK socks this fall, I think I’ve finished 5 pairs. I just love how cozy they feel on my feet. My go to pattern is also the Crazy Sock Lady’s. One pair is marled and I absolutely love that look. I also made 3 marled hats out of sock yarn leftovers. So much fun right? I’ve started a Cozy Memories blanket with my left overs alternating with a square of Stroll in bare. It IS on the fiddly side but I know I’m going to love having bits of all of my fingering weight projects in the end. I love your red shawl and also the look of the crocheted one you are starting - can’t wait to see more of it.
Thank you for taking time to share your Christmas with us. Love the cozy memories blanket. Been in my queue for years. Have you thought about making a border with cozy memories blocks twice the size, it could grow even quicker with double size squares 🤗
I would love to hear about how the little kit is to put together. My local bookstore sells those kits and I have been tempted many times to purchase one. Enjoyed your Vlogmas this year.
You have inspired me with he Cozy Memory Blanket!! I have a subscription to Row One where I get about 10 news mini skeins each month. I think this would be a beautiful way to use them. Also, can you mention the lovely lipstick you’ve been wearing? It does look so attractive on you. I loved Vlogmas and I will miss you now everyday ☺️ Oh, yes, I have three dogs and long hair so I’m continually pulling hair off my knitting 🧶
Hi Pam! Oh, yes, the Row One subscription will be perfect for the blanket. I have some of those knitted into it too. The lipstick is the Laura Geller one that I talked about in one of the vlogmas episodes. I think that the color is Brick House.
Loved this episode and Vlogmas! Thanks for all you do for us! Are you make the ridge blanket with fingering yarn? I must have missed an episode where you talked about that!❤
I had that dollhouse when I was little! My dad built it for me from a kit when I was 3 years old (which was in 1985). Yours may have been finished later than mine
Thank you for sharing about moan!!! I’m following her and she’s lovely! (Pardon the pun) And yes I constantly pull dog hair out of my knitting as well! 😂 it’s a dog’s life - dog hair, don’t care ❤ And speaking of hair, I really like yours like that. Pulled up off you face just a little - makes you look younger!!! Doesn’t every woman want to hear that?! I love all the book recommendations - my bday is in Jan and I will pass those titles on to my children for gift suggestions! Thanks for sharing so much inspiration and happy new year❤
Hello from sw Ohio. I found you during vlogmas and enjoyed every episode. I am sure it was so much work but we appreciated your time and I truly love supporting a channel that embraces Christianity. I find hair in every project I make. Thank goodness it blends in with wool haha. I’m curious how dk socks fit into shoes. Your home is lovely. Blessings for a beautiful winter with some cozy snowy knitting days to come.
Thank you for your kind words! I appreciate you watching. I am so happy to hear you found my channel during Vlogmas. I find that the DK weight socks fit well into my boots, but they are not as comfy in my tighter shoes. To be honest, I mostly only wear some form of boots in the winter anyway, so it works for me!
I love your DK socks with the two fingering weight yarns. I did a similar thing with mittens, with a single white and a self stripping sock yarn and they came out similar to your socks. The pattern is Annie's Mittens by Holli Yeoh
I’m loving your Dk weight socks, I think I need to make a few pairs. Such an awesome episode filled with beautiful makes. What ever happened with the Jimmy Beans Wool blanket you started at the first of the year? Just curious as I was excited to see how it turned out. Happy knitting 🧶
Hello! Thank you so much! Ugh, yes, I keep forgetting to talk about the Jimmy Beans Wool blanket project. I will try to remember to talk about that on the next episode.
Not sure if I told you, but my cozy blanket was 21 or 29 stitches?? so it became a shawl😂 There’s a quilt I started 40 years ago that was supposed to be my first hand pieced and quilted needless to say it’s still not done😊
I found 46 stitches to cast on for Cozy memory blanket yielded a nice sized square. I also had a question about your garter ridge blanket-assume you are holding fingering weight double: a color held with white.
I love your garter ridge blanket. Did you mention what weight of yarn you used? I really fancy making one. I live the look of the cosy memory blanket but i might make it as a cushion first lol as i see myself getting fed up with it. I've also made some dk socks that were lovely, youve inspired me to make another pair x
Old wives tale, working your hair into a project (especially if you're gifting it) is working a part of you into it, protecting the wearer, bringing luck like a hug. I've gifted to some pretty lucky/hugged people!! 🤣😂
I really thought I would love using 9” circular needles for socks. I tried and really struggled to get my stitches to stretch all the way around….do you ever have this issue? Also love the DK socks! Can you wear them comfortably in shoes? Thanks for the fun episode 😊
I don't notice that problem with them not stretching. I usually knit fingering weight socks with a cast-on of 60-68 stitches. I can wear the DK weight socks in my boot type shoes but they are not as comfortable in more fitted shoes. I stick with the fingering weight ones for that.
I’ve only tried them once, the sock had a total of 56 stitches….maybe I’ll find a different sock pattern and try them again. Also Bobbie at Knitter’s Niche had a great pattern she shared for self striping sock yarn: the Everything November fingerless mitts 😊
Your blankets look so nice. I have a cozy memories blanket that has maybe 10 squares. Started about the same time as you, wasn't into it and it just sat. I may have to get it out and start again. You're inspiring. I also am into the DK socks now. I find that I can use up little, little balls too. Combine a few that would be maybe enough for about a quarter of a sock that work well together and hold with a white. Great for odds and ends. By the way, I never expect a reply. I know creators would not have time to write to each. So a heart is plenty to say 'I read your comment thanks'. No stress. Thanks again for doing Vlogmas. It's a ton of work, and it's appreciated. Oh by the way, I have the Home and Away book. Made the Featherweight 2 times. Also, the Georgetown and Rosemont cardigans. I like the Georgetown (used Patons Wool), but the Rosemont doesn't hang right from the shoulders and I don't wear it as much. That one I used Knit Picks City Tweed HW. I like the City Tweed for next to skin soft, but prefer the DK weight.
Hello Jeanne! The DK socks are so much fun! I am loving that I can use up some of my yarn stash and they knit up so quickly. Not to mention that they are so thick and warm. Thank you for watching my vlogmas episodes!
I am new to your channel and new to knitting and you mentioned putting a gallon bag of yarn in the freezer. Why would you do that? What does putting yarn in the freezer do for the yarn?
Hello! I have used so many mics over the years while podcasting and was never happy with any of them until this one. This is definitely more of an investment. It is a Hollyland Lark M2. I love it. The audio is so good and I don't get interference like I always have with other mics.
Hey Amber, in one of your last episodes you were not happy about how your colourworkwocks came out because they not stretchy enough. During the last days I saw a video and remembered your episode. Did you ever heard about ladderback jacquard? Perhaps this is something for you. 🙂
Oh gosh! I should have explained that! Any time I buy yarn secondhand, I stick it in the freezer to kill any insects/moths that may be in it before I stick it with the rest of my stash!
Thankyou amber it’s like meeting a friend a lovely natural manner you have and I so enjoyed all your vlogmas episodes I like your dad a very nice face xx
Awww, thank you so much!
Hello Moran! I meant every word. You are one of my faves! I always get so excited when I see you have uploaded another video!
Hi Amber. Oh geez! I didn't know that! I had always heard that throwing it in the freezer for several months would take care of it. Thanks for the heads up!
@ You’re welcome. It’s a common misconception because freezing will kill them under the right circumstances. Hope you and your family enjoy the rest of the holiday season and best wishes for the new year!
Thank you bunches! Happy new year!
Your vlogs are my favourite ones to watch. You are now inspiring me to knit DK socks!
Make great bed socks and boot socks ! 👍🙂
Awww. Thanks so much!

Thank you, Christine!
This was a super interesting vlog Amber . Glad you stayed with the cozy memories blanket and the socks for Lily turned out so nice. I was surprised and happy to see you had posted so soon after the holidays. Thanks much.
Hello Elsie! Thank you!
The Cozy memories blanket would be a great baby blanket to tuck away for your future ( probably not too distant) grandbabies!!!💕
I love that idea!
You have been the only podcaster I have followed from the beginning and to this day. What you share is wholesome and real.
And you share your faith, which is wonderful.

Hi Michelle! Thank you so much! And, no, it's definitely not just you. From reading these comments, it happens to a lot of us!
I loved your story about Lilly’s socks,
Thank you, Amber, I liked your Vlogmas sooo much, it was beautiful! Happy new year and all the best for you and your family😍
Thank you so much! Wishing you and yours a blessed new year.
Oh I love that shawl! Its so stunning. ❤ ps: I'm so glad I'm not the only one that gets dog & my own hair in my projects😅
Loved your warm and encouraging vlog! Full of knitting, crafting, love and family!

Loved catching up with you and your projects today! How fun that you get to be so inspired by color as you knit on projects you're loving! The blankets are beautiful and look so cozy and thanks for sharing the granny stripe shawl too!
The marled socks are amazing! So pretty. You should run a KAL for them - I’d join in!!
Thank you! And, I'll consider doing a KAL.

Hahaha. You're so sweet. I don't know about the energy. Sometimes it's there and other days I just can't wait until bedtime rolls around! Lol.
When I first saw your dollhouse I found one for free..kept for a year with lans to remodel ..but gave to a dear friend who will do wonders with it! Yes..long term project!❤❤❤
I'm sure your friend greatly appreciated that gift!
Amber..I LOVE your podcasts! You have so many wonderful ideas, and just constantly inspiring! Thank you for sharing! Cant wait to try some DK socks!

Hi Nancy! Thank you so much for your kindness and encouragement!
I’m in love with your red shawl/ scarf. I want to knit one, maybe not that color
It's a great pattern to knit!
I got my sister that same miniature greenhouse for Christmas this year! I’d like to get one similar for myself. They have many different ones.
It's going to be so fun! Lily said that there were a bunch to choose from but she thought I would like this one the best.
I'm getting ready to make my first shawl soon and I'm looking forward to it!
Fun! What shawl are you going to make?
Your knits are so lovely especially the ķnits for the family. I loved the Double Knitting socks. Pity about the red shawl leaching colour. I have a small collection of knitting books and I am aiming to buy a new one. I am late in commenting and now so peopled out and hopely after this week things will return to normal ❤😊
Hi Rosemary! Thank you so much!
Enjoyed your vlogmas series this year. It has been such a busy December that I am looking forward to resting. Hope you are able to rest while enjoying those projects you have planned.
Thank you!
Loved your Vlogmas!! It was awesome! Thanks for doing it!! Love cooking too!
Awww, thank you so much!
Thanks for this inspiring podcast!
Loved this treat ,,, Amber 🎉🎉🎉
Such a treat after a busy 2 days,,,
Love the marled dk socks,,,,
I have used leftovers mohair. And the fingering weight yarn held together,,,,makes dk,,,
Love the blankets,,,,,
Elsine🎉🏠
I would like to knit a pair of mohair socks. That's one combo I haven't tried yet.
Thank you so much!
The cosiest memory blanket is gorgeous. Think it might be going on my ‘to do ‘ list. Happy new year 🎉❤🧶x
Thank you! Happy new year to you as well!
Your colour choices in the cozy memories blanket are lovely
So excited to make some DK weight socks now. I have some Regia and lots of other fingering weights and I just don't love knitting fingering weight socks. So now I have a plan!
Your cozy memory blanket will look beautiful wrapped around your first grandbaby. I would make it a square.
You are right! ❤️
Thank you for the word of warning about the red yarn. I have the same yarn in my 4 color Clint shawl. That’s great info to know! Watched every minute of Vlogmas, thanks again for doing it!!
Oh, yes, please be careful when you wash your shawl. Color catchers do really help!
Thanks Amber. I’m interested to see your restart of the granny shawl. Thanks for sharing all that you do.
Thank you, Denise!
You're welcome! I'm so glad you can find them!
Thank you so much! Loved watching your Vlogmas, as well as all your podcasts. 😊
Yay! Thank you!
I started a cozy memories blanket with the small squares and it is languishing. I started another one with 30 stitches and I’m flying through it. The squares are about 6”. Makes all the difference!
Yes, that would make a big difference. That's what I would do in the future if I ever knit it again!
i was surprised you did this vlog today after the vlogmas, but thanks! I am doing a memory blanket as well and usually do one or two squares on Sundays. I'm back at it after not doing it since october. Love that grannny shawl pattern!
I'm so excited to start the granny stripe shawl! I love when I can mix colors!
Thank you for sharing your life with us during vlogmas. I totalled enjoed it. Especially the one about Kraynaks. That was a walk down memory lane for me. I am originally from Farrell Pa and that was always part of my going up.
Hi Carol! I'm so glad you were able to take a walk down memory lane! That's great!
Your Cozy Memories blanket would be a great start to making grandbaby items. It could be a special blanket to have at grandma's house. I really enjoy making blankets also, I also remember you started a crochet blanket from Attic 24, with squares!!
Yes, I agree! And, yep, I am still working on that crochet blanket. It will also be a long term project. Blankets always are for me.
If you want bigger squares on your cosy memories blanket you could always use your existing blanket as the centre and knit a border of larger squares around the edge - cast on 72stitches and pick up along the edge of two squares.
Great idea! I had another viewer recommend this as well.
Hi. I love the doll's house.
Hello Amber!
You could finish the square blanket using the small square that you already have for the center like a medallion. Then knit big square around the center.
You could finish it faster, fewer ends...
I you understand my idea, sorry, English is my second language.
Hello! Yes, I understand what you are saying perfectly! :) Thank you for that suggestion!
I knit a mitered square blanket with fingering weight yarn that I love. I used 35 stitches for each side for a total of 70 stitches cast on.
I was just looking on ravelry for the cafe cowl snd it is now available as a ravelry download. This often happens when books get a bit older.
I will.
That would have been a much better route for me to go! Lol. I will remember that if I decide to knit another one in the future!
Thank you so much for your vlogs
Yes, marling yarns is sooooo much fun!
Thank you for taking time to share your Christmas with us. Love the cozy memories blanket. Been in my queue for years. Have you thought about making a border with cozy memories blocks twice the size, it could grow even quicker with double size squares 🤗
Hi Susan. I have had several viewers suggest that!
I must have missed an episode where you talked about that!❤
Hi Connie! Yes, two fingering weights held double for the blanket.
I had that dollhouse when I was little! My dad built it for me from a kit when I was 3 years old (which was in 1985). Yours may have been finished later than mine
Oh, that is so awesome! I was just guessing the age by how the interior was decorated. All the mauve and baby blue from the early 90's. Lol.
I made the dirty chai pullover. Loved it!
Is it as cozy as it looks?
Merry Christmas, from Swansea, Illinois. ❤❤❤❤
Merry Christmas, Janet!
Thank you for sharing about moan!!! I’m following her and she’s lovely! (Pardon the pun)
And yes I constantly pull dog hair out of my knitting as well!
Thanks for sharing so much inspiration and happy new year❤
You are sweet! I will have to wear my hair up like that more often! Lol.
Your hair looks so pretty up like that!
Thank you! Love
It makes you look younger. So cute!
@ that is good to know. Take time for yourself but we all look forward to any new vlogs 💕
I love your DK socks with the two fingering weight yarns. I did a similar thing with mittens, with a single white and a self stripping sock yarn and they came out similar to your socks. The pattern is Annie's Mittens by Holli Yeoh
Marled mittens? Oh, now that sounds like a lot of fun!!!!
Hahaha! I also have a quilt that I never finished. I got no further than cutting out all of the triangles for the quilt top.
I found 46 stitches to cast on for Cozy memory blanket yielded a nice sized square. I also had a question about your garter ridge blanket-assume you are holding fingering weight double: a color held with white.
Hello, Susan. Yes, I'm holding two fingering weight yarns double.
Love love your Quince & Co shawl!
I always look forward to your podcasts! Rest up?
I love your garter ridge blanket. Did you mention what weight of yarn you used? I really fancy making one. I live the look of the cosy memory blanket but i might make it as a cushion first lol as i see myself getting fed up with it. I've also made some dk socks that were lovely, youve inspired me to make another pair x
Hello! I don't remember if I mentioned the yarn weight! Lol. I am holding two fingering strands together, so it's basically a DK weight.
Old wives tale, working your hair into a project (especially if you're gifting it) is working a part of you into it, protecting the wearer, bringing luck like a hug.
I've gifted to some pretty lucky/hugged people!! 🤣😂
I love that!
Yes, always the hair in my projects, a result of having very long hair I suspect😉
Yep!
Love the garter ridge blanket! Garter stitch is so relaxing!! Are you using 2 strands and marling?
Yes I am!
What does putting yarn in the freezer do for the yarn?
freezing kills any bugs, like moths or fleas, that may be hiding in the yarn! highly recommended to do if you're using second-hand yarn.
It is supposed to kill any bugs off that may be hiding in the yarn. I only so this when I buy secondhand yarn.
Happy Christmas! If you like crescent shawls you’ll like the Escanda by Belen Fernandez. It’s a free pattern!
Thank you for the suggestion!
Did I somehow miss Lily's Pyramid tower that she got from the op shop?
I forget what episode that was from, but she hasn't lit it yet because it takes special candlesticks that she needs to find online and order.
oh I'm sorry to hear that I was really looking forward to seeing it work💕
My Cozy Memories turned into a wall hanging! Way too tedious! Definitely more stitches on bigger needles...
That's a great idea!
I love Moan of crochet objet, too…same reasons.
What weight of yarn are you using for the garter ridge blanket?
Hello. I am holding fingering weight double so I'm essentially getting a DK weight.
What mic do you use btw?
Hello! I have used so many mics over the years while podcasting and was never happy with any of them until this one. This is definitely more of an investment. It is a Hollyland Lark M2. I love it. The audio is so good and I don't get interference like I always have with other mics.
@@alovelyyarnthank you!!!
@@patternandcraft you're welcome!
Are you holding 2 strands together for Garter Ridge? Fingering, DK?
Hello, Jean! Yes, two fingering weights held double.
Hey Amber, in one of your last episodes you were not happy about how your colourworkwocks came out because they not stretchy enough. During the last days I saw a video and remembered your episode. Did you ever heard about ladderback jacquard? Perhaps this is something for you. 🙂
Hello. I have recently heard of it, but haven't looked into it. I made some changes while knitting the second sock and it made it more flexible.
@alovelyyarn That sounds good! :)
Maybe you should have done a vinegar soak first then wash after that.
Yes, that is what someone else suggested!
Why did you put the yarn from the thrift store in the freezer
Hey Sandra! To kill off any bugs that might be lurking in the wool fibers.
Why did you put the yarn in the freezer????
Oh gosh! I should have explained that! Any time I buy yarn secondhand, I stick it in the freezer to kill any insects/moths that may be in it before I stick it with the rest of my stash!
Makes sense… I was thinking that but didn’t know for sure. Thanks for answering…. Loved your vlogmas😊
I took 3 years to knit a bee keepers quilt.
Is that the one with the little puff hexagons?
