    The Album Wild On The Run will always be dear to my heart. when released around 1983/84 it just shot a hole right through me and started my metal journey. Grandprix was another outstanding band around that time, Samurai being the outstanding album. such great memories, such great, great times. So glad i was there to soak it all in.

    Wow, never thought I'd ever see this. Tried to get hold of Tobruk's ECT appearance for years now without success. I was a MASSIVE Tobruk fan and I was actually THERE at this performance (they blew 'Shy' offstage!).....

    (continued.....).... Snake had the most amazing stage presence - he ruled the stage. There was even a rumour that I was caught on camera during this performance, however having viewed this it seems that is now an urban legend :o). Amazing band that should have been HUGE!! Thanks so much for putting this up (I remember Briar too - my Brum friends were always going on about them). RIP Snake. Tim.

    Amazing band, Wild on the Run has been one of my favourite albums for 20 years or something! Like others said, can't believe they never made it big. I would lend "WOTR" to "pop music fan" friends at school and they would inevitably be totally converted!- killer songs and playing on that album and yes, brilliant production too. I thought his voice sounded fantastic on that record and I'm really surprised to hear he sounds just the as good live!!

    absofukinlutely!! the albums production was amazing compared to for example shys first two albums....the singers voice was amazing the guitar solos were crisp and perfect,they looked scandanavian and pissed all over europe,its a strange world when Grim Reaper can break America and Tobruk got nowhere,Falling has to be the best pop metal song ever written...amazing,great to see them on here

    The name of the 1st song is "Breakdown". The 2nd one is called "Falling". Both are from the awesome "Wild On The Run" record.
    Keep On Rockin'!

    WOW!!! Can't believe after nearly 30 years of having this video of them still & taking it with me from home to home and never captured the bit where the singer mentions the band's name! So 4 all that time I always wondered what the band were called & all it took was a good look on Google under the song titles! Duh! Will forthwith B seeking out the album on Ebay or wherever I can find it! God bless RUclips!

    thanks for some ace memories with tobruk and briar.i think at that time brum had a great rock circuit and it was a shame some of these bands never made it bigger.i saw briar a few times at the railway in curzon st and tobruk i caught supporting someone at the odeon,not sure if it was gary moore or ufo.ive got a few clips of the ect programme too,and i agree that there were some good bands on there.nice one mate!

    Awesome vid of an awesome band. Wild on the run was one of my favourite lps of the 80', and I don't care for the Jam Bun Hovis type bands - Tobruk had a much harder edge. Saw them at the Richmond Hotel in Brighton during freshers week at Brighton Poly in '84 (the support was Onslaught). They were superb, great songs performed by a band that should have been huge - the synchro guitar twirling was excellent. The barbed wire explorers were made by Jay Dee I believe
    RIP Snake :(

      Agree they should have been huge. I was at the Richmond gig too after seeing them a few weeks previously at Retford Porterhouse. Total both audiences I estimate c.200 people. Tobruk played like it was 20,000. Great, great band.

    I loved that series as it was ground-breaking music television, been thinking about this weekend. A Motorhead show featured on the series, do you know what tracks they played?

  • @Widder23D
    @Widder23D 15 лет назад

    Did Tobruck play a full set on ECT, or was it just these two songs? I recall that all the bands played two songs televised on ECT, but seeing that Eddie Fincher is playing in his shorts presumably Tobruck did more than the two numbers shown, if so was the full show recorded?
