My wife and I were delighted to discover your channel back about Munro 60 or 70. We are Canadian seniors and learned about Munro bagging long ago from a Scottish friend who told us about The Munro Show. And it was 6 and a half years ago when we bagged our one and only Munro, Beinn Narnain, I was just about 65 at the time. We took the less direct route to the top, which gave great views of The Cobbler after all those zig-zags (‘switchbacks’ we call them here). As a young man I did 3 week-long hikes through the Canadian Rockies and have done many walks through the vast forests of Ontario but there is something rather special about the Scottish highlands. Thanks for all your videos, especially this one.

The very village I was born and raised, so fortunate and I recognise that now more than ever but of course as a youngster, you just want to leave and see the big lights of the city but now its more appealing than ever

Dear James, your latest films around the Arrochar alps adds to the great reputation you have built up. Excellent photography and artistic skill in your choice of subject and great comments. Well done and thank you. This part of you journey brings back happy memories .I last walked the same pathways some 60 yrs ago and managed to lessen the impact they had on reducing the stresses I had in my life. Most of us who watch your videos will have obtained some lessening of the stresses in their lives. As we approach the end of 2023 we think back to the happy times and for some the bad times. So thanks for all you have done to make many people happy. We wish you and yours including your wee friend. lexi a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

Narnain is literally on my doorstep as I live right at the foot of this mountain which means I can only see up as far as Cruach na Miseag (the big lump before the Spearhead). A lovely video. Thanks for climbing up there and showing the beautiful views all the way down to the Gareloch and the Firth of Clyde and over to Loch Arklet and Katrine. You got a good clear day for it - “last day of November” you said. You mean St Andrew’s Day.

    My regular stomping ground James
I was up the Brack the week before and wanted to head up to the area the same weekend as this but work commitments put paid to that.
The local corbetts deserve a separate trip back down from Inverness.

Lovely, James and Lexi! The loch beyond Katrine is probably Venechar or possibly Ard, I'd imagine. I never made it up these ones either, so it's lovely to see that cradle of Scottish mountaineering, almost a century ago.

8:44 that’s Loch Arklet just in front of Loch Katrine, with the Inversnaid Hotel just below on the banks of Loch Lomond.

You got great conditions for your hike James. Living just west of Glasgow Ben Ime and Narnain were my first Munros and I could see them on a clear day from where I lived with my parents. It was the hills north of Inverness that I left towards the end of my 1st round! Haven't visited Ben Ime for a number of years, so need to head back there soon. ATB Derek

Hallo James, thank you ever so much for this awesome video! I’ve been to the Cobbler in the 1990s in heavy rain. It’s nice to see what‘s around it😅. Magnificent views…

The first munros I did (Narnain/Ime/Vane in one go!) and I loved 'em. There's a lot of great little pools from the west of Ben Vane that have mayflies and frogs and similar, and a wee stream too. Ben Vane is nasty from the east- the path is basically a slip 'n slide.

Beinn Narnain was my second Munro and I have returned many times. A great area for hill walking with many Corbbets surrounding the Munros. I like to see the Paps of Jura from the summit of Beinn Ime.

Its a very popular area , keep away from it at the weekends .
I've been up there just doing the Corbetts , good wee hills . great views from all the hills in the Alps..
Ben Vane isn't all that bad.
Ben Lomond would be a good last hill to do, but its far for you .
