How great to see you both in the woods again. It never fails to amaze me what you create almost out of thin air - minimal tools and the resources around you. What a treat! Cheers.
It feels so good to see you both. I got hooked on your channel because of you and your dad. Your dad makes me laugh. I bet he has your mom laughing a lot. It's so good to see y'all building at the camp.
A noggin is a 4 ounce wooden cup usually whittled from a burl from a tree. Very similar to a kuksa. Your head became known as a noggin because it looks so much like the cup turned upside down. The four and a half ounces of rum as a measure was known as a noig (unsure of spelling)
These are the kind of videos that I enjoy the most and they are the kind of videos that you do the best. Much better than the sponsored stuff that are like one big advertisement. Keep these up and I am sure you will reach 3 million subscribers.
You should do another colab with Alec Steele and have him make a shingle froe. Then use said shingle froe to make shakes or shingles to replace the turf roofs.
Enjoy this time with you dad while you can. I love his humor! Give him a huge hug from all of us in the Interlands. I lost my dad this year in New Year’s Day. He was only 76. We used to do stuff like this together when I was younger and we lived closer together.
I dont know what drove me to watch outdoors channels, but I do know I don't regret the year I have been subbed to this channel. Always look forward to new videos.
Nice to see you back doing your bushcraft building! As much as I enjoy your camping and other types of building vids, this is what I enjoy watching the most , especially when your Dad joins you on these awesome projects! Great video and looking forward to the completion of this build! Cheers!
We need more dad, im not saying Mike isn't great on his own but dad is dad and we all need him he's a proper laugh a minute thankyou both for everything you'll never know your saving lives especially mine take great care much love fellows. 🙏
Ohhh,Man😌,such a enjoyable and lovely episode. You,your old man...working in such a unison and condition...he still has it in ages of 70'. You are such a likely person. Enjoy your time together brother. Love and long life to you both! ❤️❤❤
OHH Geeze Mike, It is such a Treat to see You & Your father in the Woods again.. When I built the Covered area off the Side of Our Camper at the Seasonal Camp Ground we were at for 30 Some odd Years. I Screwed it all together knowing at some time We were gonna take it apart again. Which we Did this Year, It got to the point of not being Economically fun to go out there any more, I am on 10 Acres here at My new Place and We are gonna Make a New camp right Here.. Thake care. Mike M.
Great to see your Dad again! I know many other people were asking for him. Really making headway on the camp. I was just thinking about your first Bush Craft camp and how one of the most difficult things was trying to make a roof. So glad you have the room to make it now. (Mike, your Dad cracks me up! Doing those "chin ups" with a tree stump under him! LOL!)
Love your teamwork, i reminds me of the times when me and my father was working in our forest and took down treas and cleaned up. Working together father and son is a fantastic thing to bond together. The forest is still here but sadly my father is gone since 5 years (84 years old and 60+ of them with diabetes).
I love how your father jokes. Regarding the nails, have you thought about how they would have do this without nails? Basically drill a hole in both pieces and stick a large wooden dowel in the hole. That would be more in keeping with your build. They also did this over several 1000 years
Brilliant to see you and yer dad in the bush camp and working together! I think "noggin" is a uniquely English term - my parents were both born in the UK and I remember being raised with that term in use around the house..
Ok...my thoughts as I watch....yay Dads here.....lol..Dad's OSHA compliant step ladder, I think of him as the Nail guy.....The perfect team, Dads...work smart not hard...arm lifts...lol, I hate adverts and every other channel I watch I leave as soon as ad's appear.....EXCEPT YOURS....Always got me to the end. That tells me why your channel is my only go to....just saying. 😊. Glad you back st the good stuff again
Loving that you're doing this. I play a lot of survival games as i don't have the time or freedom to go do it for real and one of the things you'll notice is you start over and every time you make something cooler, better, and more functional and aesthetic than the last, and that's exactly what I'm seeing here. All your skills, knowledge, experience, and practice coming together to make your new camp even better and more beautiful than the original. I've never been more excited for your videos. And keep up with the ambient and cinematic shots. They always show your roots and passion and pull is into the project and woodland. Thank you so much for all you do.
Hi Mike, hope all is well. I just subscribed to Life of Mike and I am looking forward to seeing another set of videos and what I may learn from those. My grandson is coming home from the Army in couple of months and I am going to take him on trip into the woodlands and see if I can teach him about bushcraft. I hope he will be receptive to bushcraft and I hope we can bond and spend time together. Thanks for all your bushcraft videos and what I have learned from you and I am looking forward to spending time in the woods with him and maybe he can learn some things as well. Cheers and keep up the good work.
My medical condition became worser, i am not in good state . I once was enjoying your videos , now i couldn't enjoy your videos . I hope i will recover soon and get back to my old happy condition. I respect your works .Thank you 🌻☀️
Fantastic work team! If I were you though, invest in a couple of pairs of log tongues.....makes the shifting of all those materials soooo much easier. Quick and easy to use and will save your back. Nothing wrong with using them for bushcraft either, they are an old tool used by those logging for over a hundred years. They revolutionised the way I shift timber around. (I already have a bad back!!) Love this camp and I am not remotely envious of your woodland....not even slightly....😢
We're really enjoying going back to bushcraft beginnings. These are things that we can do with the basic materials you find in the forest. (Of course if the forest is close to a hardware store for nails). LOL. More please. Respect from you many friends in Florida USA 🌴
Great to see you both working together again, something l never did with my father as he left when l was 11 years old, later in life l got married bought a house started a family but sadly l ended up with three girls!
Great video Mike. So happy to see you and your dad back at it again, just like the old times building a bushcraft shelter. Graeme is the added flavor in your channel. Looking forward to the next episode.
A noggin as a mug was made in Germanic cultures to look like a head. It was a caricature of a head and ugly like a troll's head. So when used to refer to a person's head it has the meaning of the person's head and implies that the person is ugly. Hence, "Use your noggin" and "Got hit in the noggin" both work
It's real fun to see you and your dad do things like this togheter, amazing. That stew looks real nice might try it with my mate sometime. Give me that recipie please :)
Mike I want to say I really appreciate your work and the effort you put in your vids!! You are an amazing bushcrafter that really learned me a lot of skills and techniques over the years. Its great to see you and your father enjoy a great time together outdoors! Btw the vegetable garden looks great too! 😊
Actions speak louder than words 😊,but but but would like to hear Graham's dulcet tones doing a voice commentary ,great job from you both 😊 probably get mbe for service s to you tube😊😊😊😊
I'd love to see you guys try out a shingle roof one day, but with no nails! That would be so fascinating, can't wait to see how this looks when it is done, great stuff. Really enjoy these videos, I live on a farm with a huuuuuge forest in New Zealand, so just soaking up heaps of videos like this until I make my own.
Suggestion...try wooden dowels, say 1 inch or 1.5 inch dowels on joints. Time honored tradition. Many barns in your country and mine were built with them. The trick to em is getting a tight fit but not overly tight. Its an acquired skill, but can save nails if you dont mind investing a bit of time. They make a very solid joint. Just notch the joint lumber before pinning with a dowel. Can make them from branches or saplings. Ive used them in several structures myself over the years.
It's great you and your Dad does these things together. Not so common here in USA. At least with me anyway; it's why God made wives. Me and mine do everything together. Cheers from North Carolina, USA

You and your Dad are a great team. That guy never fails to bring a smile.
They are, my dad and I would be butting heads about an hour in. Maybe they edit those parts out, haha.
I can't imagine my father and I ever getting along that well. Mike and his Dad have an awesome relationship. ❤

A dad soo proud of life skills teached.
Absolutely what should be on media.
Not all the bs, just facts.
Grt stuff fellas. ❤
You should do another colab with Alec Steele and have him make a shingle froe. Then use said shingle froe to make shakes or shingles to replace the turf roofs.
Great to see you and dad back in the woods i would point any young fathers to your videos together to learn the importance of making memories
I love watching you two work together. Your dad is genuinely funny and the two of you get on so well. It’s nice to see that❤️🤗🐝

Brilliant to see you and yer dad in the bush camp and working together! I think "noggin" is a uniquely English term - my parents were both born in the UK and I remember being raised with that term in use around the house..
The term ‘noggin’ is used in Australia also.🇦🇺
Classic viewing, great to see you and your dad building stuff 👍

Mike has used that technique on several occasion as well. Can't remember the exact videos but it's likely the Celtic house or the Viking house.
It's great you and your Dad does these things together. Not so common here in USA. At least with me anyway; it's why God made wives. Me and mine do everything together. Cheers from North Carolina, USA
Bravo à toi Mike et à ton papa.😉👏🏻💪🏻👍🏻 j'ignorais que tu parlais français ouann 😊
