Frey did a well for our greenhouse business a few years ago. From start to finish 3 hours In and Out, 93 feet down and all the water we want and they did a great job. That rig does a really good job 👍
I’m a x well driller from Georgia and that’s the first time seeing one drilled that way. We use PVC pipes mostly and drilled 600ft or till we hit enough water. That’s a good video thanks
We drilled a new well on the farm where I grew up. It was about 525’. Well driller had prepared us for that, had drilled one about 1 mile north of us at 530’. Replaced a 165’ well. Karst limestone topography so nitrates are a problem in shallower wells. Well and pump cost more than my father paid for the farm 65 years earlier. Also needed a filter system so you could drink the water because of taste issues.
Get out there with a willow switch Andy. It's what grandpa used to do, I'll be damned if he wasn't always right, or pulling my leg, I'm not sure which. Depth is always sketchy, in my area, there's wells from about 40' to 270'. That fellow looks like he knows what he's doing and has a awful nice rig to do it with. Thanks again Andy. Best regards from Indiana.
This was really cool thanks for videoing it. I've always found well drilling interesting. Lots of respect for them guys, they're the real deal. I was thinking of you guys the other day it's been really dry here as well up until recently we hadn't got any rain at all. I've been changing water filters weekly because they're plugging with sand and that's usually the first sign that things are getting low. Awesome video Andy
You need someone to witch a well for you and that really works. I did 4 wells. And they are all really high producing water wells. Not everyone can witch the wells. I use two metal coat hangers. It works amazingly well
Sand and gravel deposited in layers up to several hundred feet thick formed "glacial till", which is what he's digging thru after he get below the topsoil level Andy farms. A glacier, which melted away only 15,000 years ago, left huge amounts of sand, and gravel over much of that part of New York State. The glacier was up to a mile and a half thick, picking up the loose material as it moved down from Canada and depositing it as it melted away. Many of the knolls in Andy's area are huge deposits of "till" which hold millions of gallons of fresh water filtered from rain on the surface. For more info google this, amazing how much power the glaciers had.
Dammit Andy, you had me on the edge of my seat....cheering on. Hope you hit the honey hole. There's been comments about witching rods....it works. Well better luck tomorrow, keep us posted.
Beats the heck out of the old pounding well drilling rigs. Took days and days to do what these rotary rigs do in one day. I had a well drilled to 320' 55 years ago, and then needed another 80' added 15 years ago. Went down in the same hole, which took a lot of jockeying around to get the rig perfectly lined up.
Bill seems like a nice guy but I'll bet he's tough as nails when he needs to be! Well, good luck getting your water situation improved. That was pretty interesting video. You just keep showing new stuff! Thanks Andy!
You never know if you're going to get water or not. Ecology is an important part of finding water and that cost a lot of money too. You have a man with lots of experience doing you're drilling for you his experiences saving you lots of money, and again without water you don't have anything. It just shows you how precious water is. Thanks mr. Well driller for having Andy videotape you, you're very good At your job. This was a very interesting day.
Hi Andy ! This great old man keep building america great again. Thanks to him! wish for you a fontaine in the next hole .. Thanks Andy for your time and have a good day bud !
That was flat out impressive content a documentary about finding water. I grew up in a coal town and the water tables were all fractured from blasting so we had a cistern and used rain water and bought water so this was really interesting to me. Thanks
Bill Frey a legend in my book. Never met the man but seen a lot of write ups about him over the years. Love how he runs that machine himself. If he can't find any clear gold for you I will bring my cabletool rig down and find you some Lol. One of the best driiling video's I have seen.
And I thought I had seen it all in the oil fields of ND drilling and fracking . That's some work by one man alone . A helper would be so handy just incase . Great video to watch looking for water when it's actually raining . Imagine how it was done in the old days . Nice video of a different field of work . Kudos to Frey .
Wow, stopping at less than 100'. Where I am, 125' is the average, some people have gone past 400'. Great video, and nice of Frey to not only let you video, but helped you with explaining the process. 👍
I spent three years in the oilfield with my Cats building well sites and dragging equipment around in the mud it was a tough job but it allowed me to survive Jimmy Carter’s grain embargo.
Great video Andy! Thanks for letting us watch the drilling process. Two things: Has your current water slowed and do your neighbors have drilled wells? I hope you are having a better day.
We had a well drilled in October of 2022,300 feet cased of 6 inch pipe. The well company came back this past May and installed the pump and ran the pipe, when all was said and done $30,000 dollar, and we were on the waiting list for over a year.
That’s the same rock bit we used offshore to drill oil. Deepest i can remember going was 37k feet down. We we in 10k feet of water. We were so far out no site of land. And at night the gulf was so dark kind of Erie. But come 5:30am you start looking around to the east and you could see a little light glow from the sun.
For my second well I had to go down 360 ft with twenty feet of screen at the bottom to keep sand out I was a little surprised you're only going that deep
An Old driller said the best wells are on top of the hills, by the power and the parlor. Looks like Davey might be keen on taking up drilling. Hope you find good water soon Andy.
Andy, loved it. Where I come from, we have oil so anytime there was a crew my dad loved being around it and we would check it out. If any of you get a chance to see it, take it. Although nowadays, I do not imagine civilians welcome. haha. Funny this guy works alone, probably easier for him to stand in the rain and work alone than to try to keep help. When the Hourigan crew showed up, you can see why they are successful. All willing to get dirty, wrestle pipe, move the trucks around, whatever. And, Davey was really listening, learning. Kudos to the next generation. And Mr. Frey is trying to get water and not looking to scalp anybody. When you are looking for water, sometime its a bit of a gamble. He really wants to complete the job and give you a great well. It may be a bit expensive but will pay off in the years to come.
Old fella up here is 86 or 87 and still drilling every day. Almost a week of drilling at My son's new home.He went 400' to get a gallon a minute. Then came to My home about 600' away from My son's well. Not quite 45 minutes including set up. 53' He hit 17 gallon a minute. It is all gravel like an under ground brook!
Interesting to see someone with years of drilling experience drill. Plus they gave explanations on what there looking for and was straight shooter. Not wanting you to waste money for exploration that wouldn’t give you positive results. Hopefully you’ll have time to record the next place they look to drill, I’d be interested to see how much winter comes shooting up.
I watched a well driller drive my well. After about an hour of watching him looking around I asked him what he was looking for. He explained "I can't see underground all I can do is remember all the wells I drilled here and the depth & quality of water". He and his family drilled 90% of the wells around the area. He was trying to avoid super water (heavy iron taste). My well was around 300ft.
It's kinda based on location and where the water table is. Where I live, we have residential wells that are 300+ feet deep and then we've got some wells that are closer to natural springs that are producing 60 gallons a minute at 50 to 60 feet deep. Not right now at this current dry time of course lol. A neighbor of ours down the road from the farm has an artesian well and that thing was pushing like 80 gallons a minute just on its own with no pump when they drilled it. It was one of the cooler things I've seen in my life.
Keep in mind folks they don't just need to hit water they need a lot of it. FHA standard requirement for a residential well is it needs to flow 5 gallons per min, and a well that can flow 10 GPM is excellent. Andy needs 100 GPM.
Very interesting Andy in Florida you can drill down at twenty feet at the farm we usually go to about eighty five feet . You hit limerock at eight to ten foot.
Dang it man.....that rain......it was wetter than a Dairy Farmer's manure pit out there. Oh "well". Shout out to Mr. Frey and Hollywood Andy for the great stuff here...ONCE AGAIN showing the general public that neither cartons of milk OR bottled water just magically "show up" at 7-11.
Great video of hard working animals. God will show you water Andy. Although,,,,,,it is a tremendous ask for a dairy a tenth that size on the top of a hill :(
Just curious ...what make and model is your rig...? Iowned several table drive rigs..last rig I sold with my company was a GEFCO 30k. New owner just purchased a one year old GEFCO 30 K to replace it. We've worked 101 years in Northern CA
Thank you for showing the WATER well drilling work. This is just a question ❓. What about water rights. How does that work on your property. Can you drill anywhere for water. Im just asking because water Rights are a big issue in my state. State wants to regulate every personal well. How does that work in your State as far as oversight.
Thank you Frey Drilling for letting Andy film the process.
Frey did a well for our greenhouse business a few years ago. From start to finish 3 hours In and Out, 93 feet down and all the water we want and they did a great job. That rig does a really good job 👍
what a nice thing to take time out and say!!!!!
I’m a x well driller from Georgia and that’s the first time seeing one drilled that way. We use PVC pipes mostly and drilled 600ft or till we hit enough water. That’s a good video thanks
Where’s his helper?

Damn Andy, that's some dedication. Getting us the story even in the rain.
That is very interesting to watch. Thank You Mr. Frey for allowing us to watch!!
I hope I'm still working at least half as hard as Mr. Frey when I'm his age...
I am 😁
That bill is one tough old man ,he drilled my well ,and family's well,he got one hell of a set up
This was really cool thanks for videoing it. I've always found well drilling interesting. Lots of respect for them guys, they're the real deal. I witched My lot for water, When I hit the 'Sweet Spot I had 12" No. 10 Copper wire bending in My hands LOL.
I have never seen a young well driller always the old boys getting lit done 👌

Beats the heck out of the old pounding well drilling rigs. Took days and days to do what these rotary rigs do in one day.

Thank you for the great video 👍👍👍 Time to get the willow branch out to find the water .
Bill seems like a nice guy but I'll bet he's tough as nails when he needs to be! Well, good luck getting your water situation improved. That was pretty interesting video. You just keep showing new stuff! Thanks Andy!
What a great video. Thanks for showing it and for Mr.Frey for giving us a little lesson in what hes looking for and just showing the process.
For years I've heard them used to describe cold weather, now I got to see one. ;) Thanks for an interesting and inforrmative video!
Those are some working hands that well gentlemen has.
You never know if you're going to get water or not. Ecology is an important part of finding water and that cost a lot of money too. Great video of the well being drilled. Great job Andy
Got Water? What a Cliff Hanger Andy...hope you have more of the drilling videos! Really interesting! Thank you! 👍
Happy 4th to Andy and family, good video on drilling a well ,🎉🎉.
Wow amazing procces drilling a well machine and good luck
A guy can learn a wide variety of stuff watching this channel.
Totally interesting Andy.
Do a midnight tap on the watercompany line, haha ,great video thanks frey

Good luck with the well Andy things are very dry here too in Bruce County Ontario but its good haying weather Cheers
That was a very, very good video. Very interesting and really nice to watch. I hope I get to see more. Thank you for doing a good job.😊
I spent three years in the oilfield with my Cats building well sites and dragging equipment around in the mud it was a tough job but it allowed me to survive Jimmy Carter’s grain embargo.
Great video. Always wanted to see this done. Hope you keep going with this, want to see how this ends.
The old man running that drill has a LOT of knowledge.
Great video Andy! Thanks for letting us watch the drilling process. Two things: Has your current water slowed and do your neighbors have drilled wells? I hope you are having a better day.
Interesting Andy. Thanks 👍🇺🇸

That old guy knows his stuff great to see a expert !!
I have never seen drilling in this terrain, and you make a good job. amzing ,take care, more updates!
That was fascinating when the water came up of the ground away from the rig. That was a real surprise to me.
.. nice change of pace.....!!
The hydraulics on that drill rig must be impressive.
An Old driller said the best wells are on top of the hills, by the power and the parlor. Looks like Davey might be keen on taking up drilling. Hope you find good water soon Andy.

Another great video
Keep them coming !!!
Andy,
Other folks have reported success in hiring Dowsers to locate good spots to drill before putting pipes into the ground.
Great video educational thanks.
Very interesting video, slightly bigger than the mag drill 😂
Finding the right water can be tough sometimes. Where at the water table is 25 ft. But a mile away it's 150 ft so you just never know. Good luck.
This is really neat
Very kool video seeing how drilling for water is done bummer u haven't hit any water
Interesting to see someone with years of drilling experience drill. Plus they gave explanations on what there looking for and was straight shooter. Did you witch the well or drilling a blind hole?
Great video andy thanks for filming this enjoyed the video a lot hope you find the water
Good seeing the old boy still layin pipe! Lol!
This was a great video. Thanks
Did they use a divining rod to locate the best place to drill ? Or just best guess ?
Thanks for the video! Very interesting!😊
Was that your dad there watching?thanks for showing us.😊

I'm near Morrisville NY and my farm well is 400 ft. How deep are your other wells on the Farm?
Andy hope you find water soon best of luck have a wonderful day
That’s some drill rig everything seems very easy for him
Great video 👍🏻🇺🇸
We have a 300 ft.well. Curious on why he would stop.at.60/feet.

Very interesting how drilling is done how do you determine the spots to drill ?
Andy, does he work alone, hes one tough guy.
great video. Wells here in the lower Hudson Valley of NY often go 500' to reach water. DAMHIKT
Keep in mind folks they don't just need to hit water they need a lot of it. FHA standard requirement for a residential well is it needs to flow 5 gallons per min, and a well that can flow 10 GPM is excellent. Andy needs 100 GPM.

It’s not ours

Very interesting process. How many wells do you have now to service the operation? Thx and hopefully we will see more. Thx
Hasn't stopped raining here in Vermont. 7-8in in June alone. Some place in both Vermont and New Hampshire have got close to 5-8in in recent days 😢
Awesome video!
thats pretty amazing that old guy runs that drill alone
He has had some practice!!
Get the old v branch out go back your roots the water stick never lies lol I seen it work many times
That’s a pretty interesting process, I hope there’s more to come!
wow that truck does it all!
Enjoyed the video Andy. 😊
