I have the openrun pro v1 and they are amazing in the office. You get that open ear comfort like a speaker phone, but less disruptive attribute of headphones. Not only that but the call quality is leaps and bonds clearer than a speaker phone. They need to market these more for office use imo.
2 models back, they actually included earplugs.i have earplugs around because of work. Pop in earplugs, whoosh. So loud. Take phone calls, ear plugs, noise cancelling, Wowza.
I have the predecessor and i original bought them so i can listen to the navigation while exploring cities by foot without blocking out my surroundings or having something in my ear all day long. They worked great for that purpose. The music i hear while out and about became more of a backround soundtrack which i really like while hiking. Another usecase i later discovered was they are great to wear in bed as someone that’s sleeps on his side
Just bought the open swim pro, FANTASTIC. The sound when swimming is incredible given its underwater, and i can use them just like a pair of open run if i want. Really happy with them
You mentioned it at the end, but my favorite thing about the original Open Run Pros and now these is the mic quality. I make a lot of phone calls for work and am in the car a lot so keeping my ears open is a must, but I tested out other open ear headphones, traditional earbuds, no matter what I tested against, the Shokz always sounded the best. This may or may not be a deal breaker to all, but IMO it is much more convenient and pleasant to take a phone call on these and keep your hands free vs holding your phone to your ear or putting it on speakerphone.
i always have problems with my ear buds, my left ear, it falls out. this would probably be something to try instead.. Thanks for a fantastic youtube channel
Sound conducts better through a solid object then air. It’s why if you under water and hear something it travels much faster to your eardrum. If you scuba dive you already know this. These types of headsets use the solid bone to send those vibrations through your cheek bones directly to your inner ear , skipping your ear drum.
I have the OpenRun and OpenRun Pro models but find I almost always pick the OpenRun for the water resistance. I shower in them actually! These are tempting, but waiting for more long term reviews.
These ones i think may not be it. i think the second speaker is susceptible to water getting in from showering. there is a warning from the website about using these in showers. the more they release the less water proof it's becoming. 😔
Lol, same here. I just found out today that Openswim pro has ipx8 rating even better waterproofing than Openrun but technically 2x the price. I am happy Openrun user so will stick with openrun for now
The regular open runs are my go to biking and work headphones. Honestly liked them more than the original pros because the bone conduction bass on the pros would vibrate my jaw lol

After owning the open run pro 2 for a month and comparing to my open run pro which I used every day for 18 months. I prefer the pro. The pro2 are a fraction heavier because of the usbC charge point. Dont get me wrong I am still happy with the pro2 but for a tight fit and the fact that I would always forget that I was wearing the pro, I do miss the pro. The pro2 just isn't the same for me. I think those that want to wear shokz while exercising the pro would be best. My set of shokz pro fractured after 18 months of use in the centre of the thin band but I also wore them in my sleep to play white noise. They were on me nearly 24/7 I am still a fan of the shokz.
Excellent review! I just purchased the Shokz OpenRun Pros a week ago and then saw on the site that there was something coming 8/28 which is the OpenRun Pro 2s. I like my OpenRuns but with the upgrades in the OpenRun 2s, I went ahead and ordered a pair (in orange). May hang onto both or may gift the OpenRun Pros when the 2s come in.
They have a 45 day return policy too, so if you wanted to just upgrade and send the first ones you bought back you can. Just in case you didn’t already know. 🙂

Since it's also using air conduction, can other people standing beside you hear your music and phone calls? With the first gen it's only bone conduction so people cannot hear but Im not sure about the Pro 2. Great review and thank you
Loved to use Aftershokz product (Opencomm in my case). But unfortunately, after 3 years, the battery does not last more than 15-20 minutes. They are designed to be thrown away which is a shame. Can't find battery replacement.

I just got these today, and my goodness are they comfortable and unobtrusive on my ears. The sound is clear and quality is on point. I highly recommend these. This is the new leap in audio technology we have been waiting for, like the introduction of the iPhone. If you are a fitness fanatic and dont like thongs shoved in your ears,, then this is for you.
In my experience they were super quiet. Somehow with spotify on iPhone they were very very quiet. A bit better on youtube , but spotify was simply way too quiet even when everything was cramped up. Not sure why this is.
I wish Shokz had kept the old charging cable for the 2's, i have had a pair of the Pros for 6 or 7 years which i have used everyday in the office and they are going strong. The plastic flap WILL break off on the OR2s. I guess Shokz need customers to re buy the headsets every 2 to 3 years.
Think it depends how firm fitting your helmet is. i only have a schubert C3 so donno how'd they fair on other helmets and it puts pressure where the bone conduction is, it is 2 solid peanuts after all. Would like to hear if anyone has the 2 piece shokz and how'd they fair in a helmet as they sit above the ear canal rather than on the cheek bone.

I have a pair of Aftershokz Aeropex which I love, but they're a few years old now and have seen a LOT of use - they're on my head so much that I am basically a cyborg... When I heard about the new ones I was seriously considering upgrading to these, but I'm gutted to see that they've switched to USB C. Loved that proprietary magnetic charging cable on older models and, of course, the waterproof rating has taken a hit as a consequence of there now being a charging port that water can get into. I think my Aeropex are IP67 rated. This is actually a really important feature for me. I'm often out in wet weather or on the water, and while IP55 may be sufficient to guard against accidents, I like the peace of mind that comes with a higher waterproof rating. After all "only £169" is still £169 if they were to break. Maybe when they upgrade the OpenSwim model to include Bluetooth connection to allow you to make calls with them I might be tempted to part with my cash... Love the bright orange colour scheme of the new ones though! 🧡

I bought 2 one for a family member and me in Hong Kong. Both broke off in exactly the same area just off the part that goes over the ear. Within the warranty period but Shokz did not honor the warranty. The serial no is imprinted on the earplug and I offered to mail it in to them but they want you to read it and it is so so so so tiny ! The customer service was not good and I am miffed as both broke off in exactly the same place, They tried to offer me a 10% discount on new pair but I will not invest again as they did not stand behind their product.
I bought a pair of SANAG bone conductors for a fraction of the price. £35. I had Shokz, but they broke. Ive had two pairs of SANAG. They dont feel as premium, but for £35, I'll take that hit. Shokz are probably better, but the price difference is too great

Where is the bass? I have the Pro 2's and have the bass turned all the way up, I get a little at or below 30% volume but after that, not much at all, I guess I had higher expectations comparing them to ear buds, I plan on using them on my mail route for a little bit of background music but I don't find listening to them enjoyable at all for anything else.

This set was SO CLOSE to being an instant buy for me, but now I'm only considering it, for one reason and one reason only: The USB-C. Yes, I know, universal standard, no need for a separate cable, blah blah blah. On older Shokz products, even though it was a proprietary connection, I greatly appreciated its convenience. Was so easy to hook it on using the magnets. But now, knowing I'd have to put up with a rubber flap that'll inevitability fail on me has me having second thoughts about upgrading. All through high school, I had the Bose SoundSport earbuds, and they had a rubber flap to cover the charge port. Broke off after a year. It became so flimsy after having to peel it up every time that eventually I got tired of it and put it out of its misery. Worried the same thing will happen here. I know it's a silly thing to be pedantic about, but I will still miss the simplicity of the magnet charger, I'll leave it at that.

I use these for the simple fact that they sound great and I can still have my hearing aids in my ears at the same time. I have version one though

I’ll update my post a few days later to give my opinion. I’m hearing this video on them and so far, amazing (after upgrading like 4 times the firmware), but so far, so good.
Been looking at these for years. I may take the plunge on the orange ones. Still don’t know whether to get mini or standard as I’m in the cusp of both sizes
I have the Suunto sonic which are fine. They are quiet though and the bass isn’t great. Be interesting if these are noticeably better in those areas.

I just got these today, and my goodness are they comfortable and unobtrusive on my ears. The sound is clear and quality is on point. I highly recommend these. This is the new leap in audio technology we have been waiting for, like the introduction of the iPhone. If you are a fitness fanatic and dont like thongs shoved in your ears,, then this is for you.
Is the “speaker” part that sits on your bone thicker than the the one on the previous generation Shokz?
In my experience they were super quiet. Somehow with spotify on iPhone they were very very quiet. A bit better on youtube , but spotify was simply way too quiet even when everything was cramped up. Not sure why this is.

I wish Shokz had kept the old charging cable for the 2's, i have had a pair of the Pros for 6 or 7 years which i have used everyday in the office and they are going strong.
The plastic flap WILL break off on the OR2s.
I guess Shokz need customers to re buy the headsets every 2 to 3 years.

Mine only powers off when I put it on its charger. I have yet to see it powering itself off when on standby.

Think it depends how firm fitting your helmet is. i only have a schubert C3 so donno how'd they fair on other helmets and it puts pressure where the bone conduction is, it is 2 solid peanuts after all. Would like to hear if anyone has the 2 piece shokz and how'd they fair in a helmet as they sit above the ear canal rather than on the cheek bone.

Very interesting, i find it odd with normal ear buds as its cuts out the background when working and moving around the home, these sound ideal for me. Extra point please at 1st comment!!!

They have 2 drivers. One boneconducting and one normal like other openears.

I had “pro run” and now i have “pro run 2”. The pro run 2 is way better and no vibrations!
How are they with glasses/sunglasses?
Just perfect, I have previous version and mainly use them with glasses, cycling helmet and with shawl around my head or winter cap a fits perfectly
How waterproof is it? I had a similar “waterproof” earphones, but when I was caught running in the rain it short circuit.
I have a pair of Aftershokz Aeropex which I love, but they're a few years old now and have seen a LOT of use - they're on my head so much that I am basically a cyborg... When I heard about the new ones I was seriously considering upgrading to these, but I'm gutted to see that they've switched to USB C. Loved that proprietary magnetic charging cable on older models and, of course, the waterproof rating has taken a hit as a consequence of there now being a charging port that water can get into. I think my Aeropex are IP67 rated. This is actually a really important feature for me. I'm often out in wet weather or on the water, and while IP55 may be sufficient to guard against accidents, I like the peace of mind that comes with a higher waterproof rating. After all "only £169" is still £169 if they were to break. Maybe when they upgrade the OpenSwim model to include Bluetooth connection to allow you to make calls with them I might be tempted to part with my cash... Love the bright orange colour scheme of the new ones though! 🧡

They say 3db lounder but volume is never a problem until yer in a loud environment like a busy restaurant etc

I bought 2 one for a family member and me in Hong Kong. Both broke off in exactly the same area just off the part that goes over the ear. Within the warranty period but Shokz did not honor the warranty. The serial no is imprinted on the earplug and I offered to mail it in to them but they want you to read it and it is so so so so tiny ! The customer service was not good and I am miffed as both broke off in exactly the same place, They tried to offer me a 10% discount on new pair but I will not invest again as they did not stand behind their product.
They last very little since you have to have them louder than the previous open Run.
I bought a pair of SANAG bone conductors for a fraction of the price. £35. I had Shokz, but they broke. Ive had two pairs of SANAG. They dont feel as premium, but for £35, I'll take that hit.

Where is the bass? I have the Pro 2's and have the bass turned all the way up, I get a little at or below 30% volume but after that, not much at all, I guess I had higher expectations comparing them to ear buds, I plan on using them on my mail route for a little bit of background music but I don't find listening to them enjoyable at all for anything else.
Are the sizes adult and children's or would you say big male/small lady? I want some but I would say I'm a tad on the small side.

Just bought these and can hardly hear anything. Not very good for loud shop work.
This set was SO CLOSE to being an instant buy for me, but now I'm only considering it, for one reason and one reason only: The USB-C.
Yes, I know, universal standard, no need for a separate cable, blah blah blah. On older Shokz products, even though it was a proprietary connection, I greatly appreciated its convenience. Was so easy to hook it on using the magnets. But now, knowing I'd have to put up with a rubber flap that'll inevitability fail on me has me having second thoughts about upgrading.
All through high school, I had the Bose SoundSport earbuds, and they had a rubber flap to cover the charge port. Broke off after a year. It became so flimsy after having to peel it up every time that eventually I got tired of it and put it out of its misery. Worried the same thing will happen here.
I know it's a silly thing to be pedantic about, but I will still miss the simplicity of the magnet charger, I'll leave it at that.

And still no Bluetooth LE Audio and LC3 codec. What a shame, Bluetooth Classic Audio really is obsolete.
