I have quite a few knives now, and I like or love most of them, but all of them have some things that I would change about them. About a week ago, I started thinking about what I like and don't like, and I started to write a list of "DOs and DON'Ts", basically a list of what my perfect knife would be like. The a few days later I saw the Dogfish in a video. I checked my list, and it ticks pretty much all the boxes, so I ordered one immediately. I can't wait for it to arrive. I hope it will be as good as I imagine.
I absolutely love this one. Love having all those deployment options, especially with a blade cutout. They did a great job on the jimping on the flipper tabs and nice smooth button action. Personally, my hands are pretty skinny, so I am able to still get full grip choked back, making the ergos actually really good for me.
I was wondering why this video will be so long... Now I know :D I don't understand that extra piece. It doesn't look symmetrical, so it would make sense to have an extra for the other side... But then its shape should be mirrored, not the same... and then you would also need a different clip for the other side. I also thought that they might include az extra piece so that you can remove the clip completely - but then there wouldn't be anything to hold the knife together in the back. I have no idea what's going on :D
NOT a lefty friendly knife. i own it and the milling in the opposite side clip filler piece doesn't match the milling or scale lines when you reverse the clip. disappointing. and the scale needs to be milled out more to make room for sausage fingers to reverse flick the blade open.
I have so many mixed feelings about this knife. I love the looks, but I fear the ergos may be weird since the opening methods and choils are all over the place. I'd really like to try out a knife with squarish tang that has front, top and an inline flipper, plus a button lock, and this one's it, but... i dunno.it seems kinda wonky.
The deployment methods work really well, and the button action is pretty smooth, but I'd say it would depend on your hand size for the ergos. I'm able to get a full grip choked back, unlike in this video, and choked up is also pretty comfortable. That harpoon groove at the top is also perfect for placing you thumb. Plus, they did a really good job with the jimping, covering every spot needed so you don't slip.
@@aydan7901 thanks for the detailed info! I'm a fan of deep forward choils where the index finger gets nicely nested; here the area seems a bit flat and parallel to the cutting edge, hence my reservations.
@ThatImmo No problem, but yeah, I get what you mean. I usually do as well, though this one is still better than some others you get. It still has some depth to it, and unlike others, it is quite wide, too, so there is plenty of space.
this knife is a massive let down as a lefty. The filler tab and clip are not symmetrical and so a sharp bit of filler tab sticks off the back, milling that doesn’t match and Kizer claims that it’s designed to be right hand only so there are no lefty filler tabs. I call BS they F’d up and now aren’t taking responsibility “Sorry for the inconvenience and unpleasant experience that our knife has brought to you. The knife is designed for right-handed, so there is no left handed clip and filler tab. Sorry for inconvenience”

If only it had a stonewashed blade, Kizer’s black coating looks cheap and painted on. The rest of the knife looks good.
