I agree with you. I probably prefer the original cast too... but these guys also kind grew on me. They're pretty enjoyable to watch in their own way. ^^
listening to this song for the 20th time due to algorithm, and I can say that my hatred for this song is lessened. I still don't like it because it's just not the same sound and vibe as the first musicals, but it's a choice. Maybe the songwriters thought they needed to update it for the kiddos back then. Idk, anime musicals of 2010s were all kinda off. It's boring, it's repetitive, it's an artistic style. I can probably say the blame is in the budget too. None of them had the actual swords here. They just used the fake ones which can't be pulled out. Probably builds into why none of them embody the character as well since there is no way you can look at these characters and tell me they were trained for combat, not dance.
