Uncovering History: Metal Detecting Civil War Treasures And Colonial Artifacts

- Today, we went metal detecting at a site that had both a Civil War camp and a colonial-era homesite. Billie Jean and Jill tag along with Mike and I. We all found some interesting relics, but Billie Jean found the most. It was a fun detection, and I look forward to another day in the field with this awesome crew.

Chigg, you ought to open a museum with all the artifacts you have collected over the years. I have a figure in my head of what the value of it is and I will never say, so obviously you could not keep it all in one place, but you could rotate pieces in and out and I would pay a decent amount of money to see parts of your collection. I think that would make you more money than ever having to part with it. Kinda like Dig Daddy Don Garlitts has done with his car racing career. He is like 93 or so and still gives tours at 20 bucks a head or so. So many people know who you are and I'd pay to see. So many people are fascinated with the civil war.

I think "ChiggLopedia" is as close as I can come to describing the knowledge you share. We don't have to wait for an edit or wrap-up to have a pretty good idea of what's been found. Looked like a beautiful day to be out with a few friends. Thanks for sharing, Beau.

@@aquachigger It should be a standard term when referring to your massive memory bank. Not just Civil War as you share your knowledge of history, geology, geography, and more. I don't have to "google" when you tell us you're 99.99% sure. They all come to Chigg to verify their finds. ChiggLopedia!

Whenever i hear the sound of a train in one of your vids, i remember my grandpa's house and the train that ran behind it. When we were little, we'd run through the field to the track and the men in the caboose would throw us coins! I wonder to this day how many we l lost out there. 😅

The way the antlers sweep back, the skall Mike found, looks like antelope, but think they are found just in west half of the US.

Big fields can be so fun to metal detect. But they can also suck when you're not finding anything for hours. It's like I got this huge field with nothing in it lol. Glad you guys found some things!!!!

A few days after I watched your horseshoe video I dug one that I have never seen before. It was a full oval with no opening. I think they call it a "bar shoe" perhaps?

During one of the girl’s clean ups, what is that small horizontal piece that looks like a tire weight? It has parallel lines on it. You can see it on the right had side at 10:47 or so. Anybody know? I found something similar to that
