FINALLY! Thank you so much, I've really wanted to see someone react to this movie. It was like the first thing I was obsessed with as a kid, and it's crazy that not many people have heard of it.
God, I feel old. I remember watching this as a child on VHS. It's one of those movies that you just, for some reason, don't forget and I loved this movie as a kid. I've watched this again as an adult and was surprised how much I still remembered. I still love this movie
We had it on VHS and we had one of those mini TVs with a built in VHS player we put in our minivan cause we took a lot of long road trips during the summer. Every road trip we'd watch it at least once lol.
This is one of those movies that I watched at a particular age where it wedged itself into my brain and parts of it have this superfamiliarity that goes beyond nostalgia. Same with Jumanji, Dennis the Menace, James and the Giant Peach, and Baby's Day Out.
Totally. What this movie did, was make every playing session with your toys 'real'. This was what any boy (or girl) playing with Action Figures would see in their heads. And even though I really rooted for the Gorgonites (Archer was so cool, but so was the 'Frankenstein'-guy), I really wanted Commander Chip Hazard. This came right in the middle of that whole popularity of Action Man, all the Batman-toy series (Bane in that was absolutely cool). Furthermore; even though it was at the earlier stages of CGI, it never loses the tactile -characteristics of the materials and toys. The Neverending Story - for me - would much rather be something like 'a canon piece' (a must see for any kid or adult). And I'd put it in a row with 'Labyrinth', 'The Dark Crystal', but also animations like 'The Pagemaster'.
I watched it so much as a kid, and I watched it again recently and couldn't believe the extent I memorized it. I could predict the background sounds lol
And here I was thinking I was the only one whose grandma regularly sat them down to watch The Sound of Music. ~lol~ I love Small Soldiers, it was such a fun movie for me as a kid. I had always been creeped out by Barbies, so the Gwendy dolls just sent it over the top for me. To little me, this movie was a total action/horror. Very nostalgic, with seemingly endless rewatchability.
Shaun is winning with this one!! Small Soldiers was one of my favs. Neverending Story terrified me just from that creature on the front at the video store lmao My sis used to use it to scare me 😂
Neverending story is def the ultimate childhood nostalgia film, winner for me, But i did also have Toy Soldiers on VHS too, so brownie points for that one, two great picks.
I loved the commentary on nostalgia at the end as I was born in the 90s and loved wizard of Oz and the princess bride that as a child a broke the video as it was over played and the wizard of Oz is like what a 40s film? Keep up the good work boys x
Well this is tough, because I REALLY REALLY loved this movie as a kid...kind of still do. But The Never Ending Story is a much bigger nostalgic favorite among most movie buffs. A lot of people probably don't even know this movie. But I like you Shawn, had every toy and I loved them.
Y'all please please for the love of God, RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD was maaaddde for this channel. Made for you guys. Somebody back me up. It's amazing gory, funny, 80s cheese horror. It'll easily be one of both of your favorite movies.
Rewatched this recently and loved it. It's actually deeper than you might think. It's a satire on how violence is sold to kids and the consumerism of violence and war specifically towards kids, lines like 'i think WW2 was my fav war' and 'dont call it volence call it action kids love action it sells' were very intentional. It's if Toy Story was an anti war film. Idc it's incredibly underrated and underappreciated I'll always love it
The one and only game I have ever used cheat codes. I still hate myself for that. But loved the movie, game was great as short as it was with cheat codes.
Hello I'm new to your channel and I'm so glad you're guys reaction to it my favorite movie also there not lots people reaction to this movie sadly. And did you guys know there were gonna be part 2/remake called samll soldiers the return Commando Elites but got canceled by Disney. Look it up.
This was a movie I watched in the cinema, but aside from catching it once or so on TV, I never saw it again. Didn't have much of an impact on me from what I remember, but that might have been because I was a bit older than the expected audience.
Saw this in the Cinema when it first came out & loved it. Not seen it in at least 20 years now. This video has motivated me to go & revisit it after all these years.
Neverending Story is definitely the better film. It's original, as opposed to ripping off Toy Story. And scary Barbie has nothing on "Artax, no!" when it comes to scared childhoods.
This movie was my childhood bro on god I had the cake with the toppers I had the rock sockem toy set I had Archer but I never ever got Major Chip Hazard
I saw this in theaters as a kid. Honestly, it's a solid kids flick with some pretty decent effects. Also RIP Phil Hartman. "It's the baton death march"....lol. History buffs will understand.
Man, I remember I had this recorded on VHS, and being both fond and scared of it. When you were a kid, this really played like a serious action film. The antagonists were a real threat, and the protagonists finding their courage was wonderful. But those damn Barbies...they might have hosted one or two nightmares for me.
This is 1 of my FAVORITE Childhood movies, for sure. Not just because they filmed a small scene in my Hometown😍, but, now, anytime ‘Wannabe’ comes on , I’ll turn to whoever’s next to me & yell, ‘PHIL! I LOVE THIS SONG.”
This is a movie I adored as a kid and am SOOOOO surprised that it hasn't been rebooted but I'm also very glad they haven't...can't beat the original charm
9:20 - That actor was the voice of actor Troy McClure and lawyer Lionel Hutz in The Simpsons. RIP Phil Hartman 10:56 - The Dolls are voiced by Sarah Michelle Gellar aka Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
The Big Three when we were kids was "Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory" 1971, "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" 1968 and "Doctor Dolittle" 1967 but was also partial to "Pufnstuf" 1970.
I watched this again recently and it's still a solid movie, the tone reminds me a little of the brilliant 2009 movie ‘aliens in the attic’. Also worth watching if you haven't already seen it.
Love this movie used to watch it almost daily when I was a toddler because it was so cool, Still got my Chip Hazard somewhere around here too. 10/10 movie
This was my childhood movie. I went to the movies to see this 2x with my dad and brother in New York when it came out. Such nostalgia! I will forever love this movie. A classic
First fantastic reaction and Shaun definitely has the lead with this film. Now I was always a small soldiers more than toy story I have the toys and soundtrack so to me it'll always be the better of the two. Now small soldiers had a fantastic plot effect and all star cast with the voice of the dolls done by Sarah Michelle gellar aka buffy and Christina Ricci aka Wednesday Addams from the Addams family movie and Addams family vaule till next reaction.
Hell yeah, this movie was awesome. Tommy Lee Jones for the win! But those Barbies were disturbing as hell to me when I saw this in theaters at 7 years-old.
I loved this movie as a kid, (around 5 years old), but also Insaniac (the blue guy that spins around really fast with the flail) TERRIFIED me. I hated him even though he was one of the Good Guys. My brother who was 10 years older had an action figure of him on display on his room, and in true teenage boy/big brother fashion told me that at night he had to use Insaniac's chains to chain him up so that Insaniac wouldn't kill me and my older sister. So THAT only terrified me more, and I stopped watching the movie and going into his room unless he put Insaniac up first. Similarly, I loved the first 2 Beethoven movies as a kid, and one time (same year as the Insaniac thing) my brother was watching "Cujo" (the car scene) when I came into his room. I asked what he was watching, and he told me the movie was called "Beethoven's Revenge" and that Beethoven got rabies and killed everyone. 😂
Small Soldiers 1-0 The Never-Ending Story REASON: Small Soldiers actually featured Small soldiers. But The Never-Ending Story wasn't actually a never-ending story.
I was so excited to see you guys react to this movie and then to hear how much you guys loved watching this when you were younger also brought me joy because this was always a movie that whenever it was on television when I was a kid I watched this
PLEASE react to RRR movie 🔥+🌊! But not the English dubbed version, it's very bad and by not having subtitles, a lot of cultural data from the film is lost. See it in Hindi or Telugu language version please.
😍oh my fav childhood movie..watch this movie in cinema age 12 when it was release😍😥 did not know why they didnt take Small Soldiers 2 this generation time with the high tech nowadays😥
I remember watching this all the time as a kid. I also remember playing the hell out of the computer game small soldiers squad commander. Edit: my childhood movies that are still the best movies ever made are the terminator and terminator 2 judgement day. I’ve got a big terminator collection and was even able to go to the terminator experience at universal back in 1997.
FINALLY! Thank you so much, I've really wanted to see someone react to this movie. It was like the first thing I was obsessed with as a kid, and it's crazy that not many people have heard of it.
It’s an amazing movie. I grew up to it. The batteries are life lasting so there could be a sequel. You never know I still have small soldiers on VHS.
God, I feel old. I remember watching this as a child on VHS. It's one of those movies that you just, for some reason, don't forget and I loved this movie as a kid. I've watched this again as an adult and was surprised how much I still remembered. I still love this movie
I still have the VHS tape, and I'm never giving it away!
Can’t recall how many times I made my mom rent “Small Soldiers” on VHS at Blockbuster when I was a kid. Hands down my favorite movie back then!
We had it on VHS and we had one of those mini TVs with a built in VHS player we put in our minivan cause we took a lot of long road trips during the summer. Every road trip we'd watch it at least once lol.
Definitely one of those kids movies that went over my head until I got older. It seems a lot of 90s media is like that.
This is one of those movies that I watched at a particular age where it wedged itself into my brain and parts of it have this superfamiliarity that goes beyond nostalgia. Same with Jumanji, Dennis the Menace, James and the Giant Peach, and Baby's Day Out.

That “explaining feel” bit 😂

Phil was played by Phil Hartman
Who was most known for being Troy Mcclure in The Simpsons
Best movie of my childhood! This movie was my dream come true
Jeez so many famous people in this movie, so many funny comedians. nice to see them getting these gigs back then. RIP Phil Hartman
This is such a rare one... A lot of people don't appreciate it. Glad you guys got to see it!
For me, the biggest nostalgia film is Cloak & Dagger from 1984. Spies, ATARI, adventure!
I remember seeing this movie as a little guy at my local drive-in. I had action figures and the video game. I really liked this movie.
There were action figures for this film?
@@ajclements4627 oh yeah. I had the Archer action figure. I loved that toy.
@@philiphamel8504 Dang. My wallet might hate me if I decide to go to eBay.
@@ajclements4627 I won't tell you what to do or not to do. Just be wise about it.
I only had Acher and my next-door friend had the blue crazy monster that go spinning and is always crazy.
I loved the commentary on nostalgia at the end as I was born in the 90s and loved wizard of Oz and the princess bride that as a child a broke the video as it was over played and the wizard of Oz is like what a 40s film? Keep up the good work boys x
Hi Tom shaun great reaction I love this film watched it when I was a kids aswell I had the game on the ps1 in the 90s
Bro, I was about 7-8 years old when I saw this...This is a what if scenario of toy story
Well this is tough, because I REALLY REALLY loved this movie as a kid...kind of still do. But The Never Ending Story is a much bigger nostalgic favorite among most movie buffs. A lot of people probably don't even know this movie. But I like you Shawn, had every toy and I loved them.

Point-Small Soldiers!

9:20 Phil Hartman was so great! One of my favorite roles of his was Vicky in “So I Married an Axe Murderer.” 😂
Major chip passer is the villain
Hello I'm new to your channel and I'm so glad you're guys reaction to it my favorite movie also there not lots people reaction to this movie sadly. And did you guys know there were gonna be part 2/remake called samll soldiers the return Commando Elites but got canceled by Disney. Look it up.
Was anyone else sitting here with their favorite Gorgonite? Oh just me? Okay...
i always wanted a small soldier but i wanted like a replica from the movie but their like a 1000 per small soldier and i'm really not paying that much
This was a movie I watched in the cinema, but aside from catching it once or so on TV, I never saw it again. Didn't have much of an impact on me from what I remember, but that might have been because I was a bit older than the expected audience.

Love watching you guys. Awesome content 👍
Nobody knows this...but this movie spawned Avatar. James Cameron was a Kirsten Dunst fanboy...then he got ideas.
"Are you scared?"
"We're all scared."
I then loom in closely, "You would have to be crazy not to be scared."
That's a much better video title, thanks!
Small Soldiers! All the way!
Seemstoneverend Story sucks Commando balls!
Neverending Story is definitely the better film. It's original, as opposed to ripping off Toy Story. And scary Barbie has nothing on "Artax, no!" when it comes to scared childhoods.
Another Joe Dante film I'd recommend is The 'Burbs with Tom Hanks. It's the one where he suspects his neighbours are murderers.
Damn I love this movie!! Amazing cast
Obsessed with this film as a kid like you guys! also love the Wyclef Jean remix of Queen's 'Another One Bites the Dust'
Tom
The Commando Elite vs The Troglodytes
Small Soldiers over Neverending story every day 😂
React to Star Trek movies
Neverending story wins
God i love this movie and The Game back in the day
You guys should watch judgement night! Seeing Dennis Leary made me think of that. Surprisingly good movie and the cast was pretty great
This movie was my childhood bro on god I had the cake with the toppers I had the rock sockem toy set I had Archer but I never ever got Major Chip Hazard
TRANSFORMERS 2007 is basically small soldiers...
Blimey, guvvnor
You're past it. Over the hill
I saw this in theaters as a kid. Honestly, it's a solid kids flick with some pretty decent effects. Also RIP Phil Hartman. "It's the baton death march"....lol. History buffs will understand.
Please react to : *The 'Burbs* (1989)
Starring Tom Hanks , Carrie Fisher & Corey Feldman
and also : *Gremlins 2: The New Batch* (1990)
Joe Dante is one of the most underrated directors in my opinion. I love his movies so much.
Add joe vs the volcano for the Dante list
I love the burbs! Such a classic
Burbs is Definitely one of my favorites!

Whoever chooses a classic Joe Dante film is usually the winner. Great review.
Hey Cinema Rules, can you guys react to The Fly 2(1989)?If you do,I'd really appreciate it.
I miss that boys hair cut 90s look.
The good old days when being white did not get you demonized and morals were universal.
Completely forgot Sarah Michelle Gellar voiced the Gwendy dolls until I heard that voice lol.
9:20 - That actor was the voice of actor Troy McClure and lawyer Lionel Hutz in The Simpsons. RIP Phil Hartman

I remember going to the cinema twice as a kid to see this lol - mainly for the song iirc - ‘War! huh!’
Definitely 1-0 to shaun! And if tom picked spaceballs it’s gunna be 2-0 to shaun 😂
Action figures become a whooping with the chip evolve ass alive real real real realistic
Great reaction guys, I'm loving these nostalgia reactions.
When you guys gonna watch "Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives"???
RIP Phil Hartman - a talented man taken too soon in such a horrific way 🌹I loved his Simpson characters 😢
The Monster Squad was a movie my brothers and I Ioved as kids. If you haven't yet please react to it.
😍oh my fav childhood movie..watch this movie in cinema age 12 when it was release😍😥 did not know why they didnt take Small Soldiers 2 this generation time with the high tech nowadays😥
It’s not my idea it’s someone else’s because I read the book by someone else made this story and Jessica saw them watching as a new student there
You should watch all the different versions of Pinocchio movies and rate them worst to best
You 2 should really react to RRR: Rise Roar Revolt !!! You won't regret it!
Isnt Gorgon City a band or a song ? is it a reference to this film ?
well what a revelation Shaun has never been in the closet 🤭🤫😋😋
Shaun is literally so hot it's life changing
Evolver is close to that conception. Good movie too
Damn Potholes 😆🤣
I luv this fucking movie
Wow, this is a blast from the past! Shame there's so few reactions to this flick. It's always a fun one to put on.
21:31 we the same age lol
My childhood boys
I love this movie, always wanted an Archer toy growing up
… I miss the 90s…
