Really salute and harmonious, with its main violin virtuoso player, renowned conductor and his orchestra, bringing an eminent Beethoven composed rare. (wijonora)
I lover the slower tempos. This is perhaps in some regard Von Karajan's influence. Just listen to Von Karajan--whose performance can be heard with such clarity and such intention of phrase? What conductor gives one time to absorb and comprehend each phrase better than he? Who cannot love Anne-Sophie's similar clarity and detailed attention to each phrase without losing the macro-tempo and overall proportion. Come one people. Get a life!
Ozawa is a true artist... a performance is always much more intimate when performed without the score. Mutter is not flashy or glitzy... she just performs how it was supposed to be performed. Great performance. Thanks for posting.
@stickitupyapipe Mutter likes to play most pieces on the slow side. Ozawa doubtless consulted with Mutter as to the tempo SHE desired before the performance (as most conductors will do for a soloist when conducting a concerto).
--No,this is SD-Video Collections site. Actually this video was recorded in 1989, so there was no HD specification at that time.In case that people encode video (even original video is low resolution) with "over 720p format", RUclips recognizes it is "HD". The reason why I encode video file with over 720 format is that I want you to enjoy non deteriorated quality on big screen.Sooner many people will watch RUclips on TV. --HD-Video Collections site is below (Video Responses)
Lovely playing. Anyone who prefers a faster tempo can listen to Heifetz. We all have our preferences. Heifetz has a fantastic recording of this work with this same orchestra but it's a bit fast for my taste.
Amazing Music : the best part of the concerto with this dream in slowdown. There all things in Beethoven : violence and dream. I love the slow tempo of this record ; I love Anne-Sophie too ; I have only one regret : in this part, Anne-Sophie is perhaps a bit too "great violonist" "great madam", a bit of dream and softness in addition could be well. But it is fantastic nevertheless
I appreciate the other comments re slow tempi, normally I much prefer this approach to the " rush it off its feet kind" but I have to admit that in this case I would prefer just a little more "accelerando". I am a great admirer of Seiji Ozawa, one of the great conductors IMO so I guess he knows what he is doing. Can't comment on the technicalities of the violin as I am not qualified but simply from listening it's obvious this is wonderful playing from a very gifted artist.
I must also chime in with ilprofessore....the tempo is perfect for the soloist to display her unique ability to turn a phrase, and this piece is all about tone and singing melodies. Who among you critics can play this at 20% of what Mutter can do ? And at a faster tempo to boot??!! Yeah..right. Get a life.

E che posso sentire di più lieta - armonia per pace più gentile? - La gioia della musica fa stile - di gloria dell'umanità completa.

This is NOT an HD recording as it alleges. Uploading a SD as HD doesn not make it HD.
SD/480 at best. Need to stop this false representation.
Beethoven is the type of person that will start to measure the radius of a blood pool.
Questo è uno dei concerti preferiti, grande esecuzione.
BUT,
CAN SHE PLAY 'BILE THEM CABBAGE DOWN'?

小澤の指揮は素晴らしい!若かりしころのもいいね。
This split starts at the most amazing part of the concerto.
It begins just at the part I love most

i still think S.A. Mutter is the most elegant prformer on the circuit……always great to watch…..and learn
