them sisters didn't sing... but they sang from the soul... go soul sisters represent... now that's what you call a true movie with attitude... ha ha ha!!! i love those sisters they were real with what they did... they even made disney take a praise break!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've been drawing ever since I was little. The Disney movies were a huge impact in my childhood and my life. Unlike most kids, I always watch the making of it after the movie. Now, I'm in college and animation is one of my career goals.
Voice acting is done before any animation has started. After that the animators are given sound clips of the actors who represent their characters and then animation begins. Depending on the characters importance there can be up to 10 animators working on them at any given time. Its pretty amazing how the whole process comes together.
THIS is why I want to get involved with the animating at Disney when i'm older. Not only do you have LOTS of fun making these, but once it's all done, you get a GREAT movie! :D
@Furienna No, they "sticked" more to Superman. In the original myth, Hera was Hercules's sister who tried to kill him with the snakes. SHE put him under a spell and made him KILL Megara and his family. He went to Eurystheus for redemption. He commanded Hercules to slay the 12 labours. Hercules did so and was made a God again and made amends with Hera. There were later adventures........ .......but NONE of them had Lex Luthor dressed as Hades plotting to kill Hercules.
it would be awesome if they made a live action of this like they did sleeping beauty and are currently creating with beauty and the beast and 2 other disney classics (yet to be announced)
Prissy dixie they haven't made a live action of sleeping beauty. Cinderella yes, Snow White yes, currently Beauty and the Beast yes but sleeping beauty no
I don't know why a lot ppl dislike this film. Sure it may not have followed the mythology but it was still awesome. I'd take this over god damn despicable me (I know it's not by disney but still, hercules is more worth watching)
I don't know how I would feel about this movie, if I was Greek (although I guess I personally would have enjoyed a similar movie based on Norse mythology, even though I'm Swedish). But with all the liberties Disney took with the mythology, I still love this movie.
Their style of comedy went rampant in the late 90's and early 00's, or at least similar to that. Admittedly ive gotten sick of 90's cartoony humor but it wont stop me from liking movies like this and such
Well, "Aladdin" is hardly anything like its original source either, and TLM and THOND were much darker stories originally. But it seems like more people are fans of Greek mythology than of "Arabian Nights", HC Andersen or Victor Hugo, so "Hercules" gets more bashing than the other movies. And I don't think that's fair. Sure, they didn't follow the Greek myths to the letter, but at least they gave children a chance to get to know Greek mythology, that they maybe wouldn't have gotten otherwise.
While this is an amazing movie, they got so much of the mythology wrong, one thing, Bacchus was the Roman counterpart of Dionysus, and Zeus is the Greek counterpart of Jupiter, so they mixed up two different cultures, also Hera wasn't Hercules's mother and Hera HATED Hercules because he was the result of Zeus cheating on her (many, many times) with some mortal, I mean she made him become insane and killed his own children. Besides all the mythological inaccuracies, Hercules is a great Disney movie.
They often mess up with the truth in many disney films but it seems they just always try to make it some more child-friendly. A mother who killed the bastard of her man ist not what we wanne show our little sweetys :)
Well, now we will never know. However, it would be very interesting to see how they would recreate Hercules (or Heracles) while staying true to the myth.
What I meant was, they sticked to it as much they could and still be Disney. It's not like "The little mermaid", "Aladdin", "The hunchback of Notre-Dame" or even "Tarzan" followed their original sources to the letter either. If you wanted a truthful adaption of the Hercules myth, surely you didn't expect it from Disney? And like I said, Hercules was the Superman of the ancient Greece anyway. And furthermore, Hera wasn't Hercules's sister, but his father's wife.
@Furienna Yes, I got it wrong about Hera, she was his stepmother. But those other cartoons followed their source material much closer than this one did. As I said earlier, they could have adapted the myth, but toned it down so it could be Disney. I think it was a wasted effort to make it just like Superman. Hercules and Superman may be similar characters, but their stories are very different.
it is a shame that they somehow failed to correctly use the GREEK versions of the gods names... but it was only once, that i can see, and overall this is probably actually my favourite disney movie ever. i just love it
how do they get the animations to actually look like they're saying what the actors are saying how do you make the mouth move like that?? thts was i wanna learn about coz i wanna be an animator
woah hold on. ever since I started reading percy jackson my mythology has gotten better. At 4:30 when they are talking about hermes. They said Dionysus' roman form, Bacchus. but they say the rest in greek like zeus, hades, etc. I love the movie but I just noticed this.
@CUF17 Don't get me wrong. I still liked this film, but less than the others. In Greece, it was merely seen as an adaptation of Superman because it was so unfaithful to the original myths.
@Furienna Yeah, I guess so. Making it funny AND educational at the same time, but I would still have preferred a toned down version of the original myth than the film copying Superman. At least THOND, TLM and Aladdin were a combination of their source material and ORIGINAL material, but Hercules was just the same as Superman.
I still think you're too hard on this movie. At least they got some basic facts (like what the names of the gods were and what they were gods of) right. And if it's like Superman, well, like I've said, that's understandable actually.
@FallofDarkness55 Yay! Someone who doesn't instantly hate tangled because it's in CGI! They couldn't animate the hair traditionally, yet people still get mad about it. They seem to be on a roll. Princess and the frog, now tangled. They were considering doing "The snow queeen" but it has been put on hold indefinitely. Next traditionally animated film is Winnie the Pooh.
them sisters didn't sing... but they sang from the soul... go soul sisters represent... now that's what you call a true movie with attitude... ha ha ha!!! i love those sisters they were real with what they did... they even made disney take a praise break!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THE MUSES always kicked ass!
Hades is probably the best Disney villain.
omg! even the actors playing hercules look like the character! mind.blown. this is my favourite animated movie!!
I've been drawing ever since I was little. The Disney movies were a huge impact in my childhood and my life. Unlike most kids, I always watch the making of it after the movie.

Fallon Clarke i noticed that the five women who portarys the muses look exactly like the actual person
@@kewilliams4230 it wouldn't make sense for the caricature to not match the voice
What would we do without James Woods... ooh, piece of candy.
Cassius Coleman Someone to care for, to be there for we have James Woods!
Zoe ZR someone to do for, muddle through for, you have James woods!
THIS is why I want to get involved with the animating at Disney when i'm older. Not only do you have LOTS of fun making these, but once it's all done, you get a GREAT movie! :D

May the gods keep shining on Alan Menken.
Danny DeVito's Matilda hat just made my life.
i love how the characters kindof look like the people who do their voices. its great!!
Hercules can be summed up as Disney's own Superman
@Furienna No, they "sticked" more to Superman. In the original myth, Hera was Hercules's sister who tried to kill him with the snakes. SHE put him under a spell and made him KILL Megara and his family. He went to Eurystheus for redemption. He commanded Hercules to slay the 12 labours. Hercules did so and was made a God again and made amends with Hera. There were later adventures........
.......but NONE of them had Lex Luthor dressed as Hades plotting to kill Hercules.
Hercules-Clark Kent/Superman
Meg-Lois Lane/Mary Jane Watson/Shego
Hades-Lex Luthor/Drakken/Joker
it would be awesome if they made a live action of this like they did sleeping beauty and are currently creating with beauty and the beast and 2 other disney classics (yet to be announced)
Prissy dixie they haven't made a live action of sleeping beauty. Cinderella yes, Snow White yes, currently Beauty and the Beast yes but sleeping beauty no
Alexandria Stapleton maleficent bruh
where have you been
To me that was more of Maleficents story not Aurora that why I didn't count Maleficent.
Sleeping beauty is about Aurora not Maleficent.
Sleeping beauty is about Aurora not Maleficent.
Tate Donovan is the dad in Hostages!!! OH MY GOODNESS! I LOVE DISNEY, I love Hostages and now oh my goodness! respect!
I don't know why a lot ppl dislike this film. Sure it may not have followed the mythology but it was still awesome. I'd take this over god damn despicable me (I know it's not by disney but still, hercules is more worth watching)
And also, Hercules is his Roman name also, his Greek name is Heracles, ironically named after the woman who hated him.
one of my most favourite Disney classic.xD
Mine too. I have no idea why it has gotten such a bad rap. Almost everything about it is awesome to me :)
I don't know how I would feel about this movie, if I was Greek (although I guess I personally would have enjoyed a similar movie based on Norse mythology, even though I'm Swedish). But with all the liberties Disney took with the mythology, I still love this movie.
its hard to pock between Timon and Pumbaa and Pain and Panic for my favorite comedic pairing. both of them are laugh out loud hilarious
The young Hercules actor looks EXACTLY like young Hercules XD
thank you so much for posting this !!
Their style of comedy went rampant in the late 90's and early 00's, or at least similar to that. Admittedly ive gotten sick of 90's cartoony humor but it wont stop me from liking movies like this and such
James Woods..thank u,just thank u man!Hades is BAMF
Bamf?
The actor who give his voice to Hermes looks absolutely the same as his character!!! xD
for ANDREAS DEJA animating HERCULES must've been a piece of cake
Well, "Aladdin" is hardly anything like its original source either, and TLM and THOND were much darker stories originally. But it seems like more people are fans of Greek mythology than of "Arabian Nights", HC Andersen or Victor Hugo, so "Hercules" gets more bashing than the other movies. And I don't think that's fair. 4:30 its a deleted Scene?
WHO PUT THE GLAD IN GLADIATOR? HERCULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, now we will never know. However, it would be very interesting to see how they would recreate Hercules (or Heracles) while staying true to the myth.
Let's just say. This movie is like a Disney's version of "God of war"
The hat the hat the hat.. Oh my god Danny DeVito I love you
more than 700 artist, animators, and technicians to create an animated movie!
My fave character: EVERYONE! (especially Phil and Gospels!) OH YEAH!
Josh-ua! Joshua!
Tate played a guy named Joshua from friends
Omg I love Susan Egan and actually got to meet her last year and got an autograph :)
Mine too. People tend to not like it because it was so different from previous Disney films.
Gospel fits in this movie because it's based on a religious story...
I didn't like how this movie didn't follow Greek mythology but the music was really creative
also, they used Roman names for some gods :))
Wait... all this time I thought John Goodman was Zeus >.>
Me too... wait how did this happen?
5:31 And Gaston in Beauty and the Beast!
What I meant was, they sticked to it as much they could and still be Disney. It's not like "The little mermaid", "Aladdin", "The hunchback of Notre-Dame" or even "Tarzan" followed their original sources to the letter either. This is my favourite disney movie
Wow.. Hercules is Marissa Coopers dad!
Charlton Heston! Awesome XD
Wow this is so off from the actual myth but it's still AMAZING!!
Ha ha! Well, it goes the other way around too. The mythological hero Hercules is the inspiration to the comic character Superman.
is it just me or does Joshua keaton actually kinda looks like heracules himself? (facial wise at least)
I love how some of the cartoons actually look like their actors lol
Who is the narrator??? I've heard his voice in other disney things like the monorail and previews.
@NakhlaTree he's so adorable the way hes always mad :) badass of disney villainry right here.
I never noticed the dionysus part but Hercules is his Roman name as well.
hades is easily top 3 disney villain ehheh
One of my former lecturer was a animator for the fire on Hade's head
classic disney, favorite disney movie
@Furienna Did you happen to notice that Hercules even has an S-Curl like Superman????
it mean her is a monster her voice an angel
it is a shame that they somehow failed to correctly use the GREEK versions of the gods names... but it was only once, that i can see, and overall this is probably actually my favourite disney movie ever. i just love it
***** yeah that's true.
R.I.P Charlton Heston.
Was this on one of the Hercules DVD or did it just aired once on TV?
how do they get the animations to actually look like they're saying what the actors are saying how do you make the mouth move like that?? thts was i wanna learn about coz i wanna be an animator
the voice of meg is a monster
This was a great movie!!!
The muses were the best part!!
Hades is myyy favorite character too...sooo hilarious and mean ;)
These people are geniuses
josh keaton is so fine
Hercules is awesome :D
Where can i whatch the movie for free without downloading it?
woah hold on. ever since I started reading percy jackson my mythology has gotten better. At 4:30 when they are talking about hermes. They said Dionysus' roman form, Bacchus. but they say the rest in greek like zeus, hades, etc.
I love the movie but I just noticed this.
@imlaughing2death
I must sound really stupid, but what movie is that line from again?
Lol @ "Two words: keep. it. fun."
I couldn't have agreed more.
@Furienna Maybe, but I still think Disney should have stuck to the original myth but toned it down for children.
mi pelicula favorita de infancia :')
I love this
@CUF17 Don't get me wrong. I still liked this film, but less than the others. In Greece, it was merely seen as an adaptation of Superman because it was so unfaithful to the original myths.
My Childhood!
Dire- extremely serious, urgent
Not what you think it means.
I'm afraid they sticked to the original myth as much as they could.
how did they do the dresses to the muses
@Furienna Yeah, I guess so. Making it funny AND educational at the same time, but I would still have preferred a toned down version of the original myth than the film copying Superman.
At least THOND, TLM and Aladdin were a combination of their source material and ORIGINAL material, but Hercules was just the same as Superman.
I wanna see this movie
I still think you're too hard on this movie. At least they got some basic facts (like what the names of the gods were and what they were gods of) right. And if it's like Superman, well, like I've said, that's understandable actually.
this is when disney had class and meaning
RIP Rip Torn
@diegoradoblasio ok, lol, thumbs up for putting a lot of thought on it :) :)
@imlaughing2death Funny. I'm laughing to death.
voice of hurcules is very similar to the voice of adult simba. I thought they were the same actor
MUSE ROCKS
@FallofDarkness55 Yay! Someone who doesn't instantly hate tangled because it's in CGI! They couldn't animate the hair traditionally, yet people still get mad about it.
They seem to be on a roll. Princess and the frog, now tangled. They were considering doing "The snow queeen" but it has been put on hold indefinitely. Next traditionally animated film is Winnie the Pooh.
