The reason behind that is because Bilbo was close to thorin and wouldn't want frodo selling it or doing anything with it but mithril was very rare

I love this whole scene, when Gandalf tells aragorn to lead them to the bridge. Then shoves him and says "do as I say! Swords are no more use here"

What I remember most from the movie was Ian Mc Kellen/Gandalf's face...when he closed his eyes, hold his breath a while ...and then said: "It's a Balrog a - demon from the Ancient times." ...and then "...RUN!!!" :) Even Legolas, who certainly wasn't a character to scare off easily (if ever) was practically sh@@ing his pants... lol! :)
And when Gandalf said "this foe is beyond any of you" that's a spine chilling assessment imo.
Because Legolas knew what the fuck a Balrog is.
In the books, he literally gives a cry of dismay, because other than Gandalf he alone knew how utterly fucked they were.

It’s sad that in the current age of superhero/modern Star Wars movies we are unlikely to see a trilogy this grand and well made again. I know the trilogy changed things and upset many Tolkien purists but it’s still a far more faithful and polished adaption than what you will see in this day and age. I mean the fact that this trilogy won 17 Oscar’s back when they still meant something off three movies while Disney has gotten a handful of awards off the back of nearly 30 movies with the MCU is somewhat telling financial success aside.
Case in point, the horrible Amazon TROP show. An absolute abomination. Yes, Jackson made changes, some of them unnecessary IMHO. But as a whole, his trilogy was very good indeed.
Dunes likely to be a good rival for lodr (though lodr is still best trilogy imo)
@@parrotpop7277 it could be though I worry that they may fumble Messiah as it’s a very different book from the original Dune and much more suited to a tv series as opposed to the original which while hard to adapt is more suited for the cinematic experience.

this melody literally to the last emotion describes all the chilling horror of their battle with balrog... Olorin wasn't the weak Maia, but he didn't know which power this fallen Maia balrog possessed, only knew he must stay to buy time and not let it out of Moria, because Middle earth would literaly be fucked with this balrog, worse than with Sauron...
The Dwarves mistake was not having no fear for the dark, it was the greed that blinded them to the moving shadows...

Honestly, I wanted to take a lot from the screenshots of the movie, but I thought that it would be very predictable.
