  • In our last episode of the Mozambique series we share our bowhunting in tall grass. Spot and stalk antelopes in Africa is one of the best things in the world, and having sable as our main target, we crawl for days until we score on a nice bull. Things do not go as plan but the forest teach us some valuable lessons.
On the other hand, we take the biggest warthog I have ever seen in the wild, to wrap up an amazing journey to the Zambeze Delta.
Hope you guys enjoy this honest journey! Huge thanks for the support and everyone that made this trip possible.

The warthog is a beauty - he actually “string jumped” your arrow. The arrow was perfect hight, but, he lowered his body position just before impact making it “slightly” high. GREAT EFFORT. BRAVO. Well done on the follow up on the Sable. We all have different levels of proficiency with the bow, however, as an African Bow Hunter of many years - even with an 80lb PSE Dream Season shooting close to 490 grain arrows at around 280 fps - I wouldn’t attempt a 60m shot on an animal looking at me. I am not sure whether it is because of the preditors we have in Africa (Lions, Leopards, Crocodiles, Cheetahs etc) that our animals are terrible string jumpers. An Impala is probably the worst of the lot. Anyhow - I am not in your league . . . . . . just sharing my experience. Great channel and you are an amazing hunter . . . . . love your DAD, he is a GEM. May GOD bless Papa with many more hunts with you.

Hi Pedro, I really like your videos, and know that you are a great shot, but 70m with a bow is wreckless in my opinion... we choose hunting with a bow because of the challenge and limitations of the bow, and having to get close to the animal...

62 meters is a distance I feel really confident at, as animals don’t tend to jump the string much, and for some species that is already really close. I always strive to shoot as close as posible, but that was our first opportunity on the day before the last day of the hunt, so I don’t regret taking the shot, but I agree there is always risk involved, and I couldn’t stop my shot execution on time we he started turning, which resulted in a bad shot. Would it have been different at 50? Probably not much, but hard to guess. Thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts Ruan!!!

Welcome to real life hunting. Glad you're telling the real story rather than the plastic banana, sugar coated versions you see on a lot of shows. Great hunt as always, thanks for sharing Pedro.

Finally you find the animal and then somebody mentions how frustrating it was. This has to be the biggest fear of every hunter! And to all of us this has to be a lesson that we need to practice practice practice! You hunt a lot with a bow and you practice a lot. This was a great trophy but a terrible shot. Theres no excuse. A hunter is responsible for his shot once its fired. Sadly terrible shots happen even to the best of us hunters. But you take that responsibility and only those can be respected as a real hunter. Keep up the good work!
