Want some YT comment exclusive info on the hotend? The lever on the right is indeed a filament cutter for our unreleased MMU unit. It also has flow rate detection, so if under extrusion or jams happen it can detect, compensate, and if too extreme, auto cancel / pause. The Print head also has 2 bed leveling sensors. one peizoelectric nozzle probe, and another eddy current sensor. Doing so lets us get an absolute Z position with the nozzle, then hand over to a 900 point bed leveling eddy sensor. We also have a fully custom adaptor to convert from E3D heatbreaks directly to Phaetus hard mounts, without interrupting any possible force paths for nozzle probing. A new development is the tool board which may also be moving to the back of the printhead to increase the X axis size from ~330 -> 350mm
Not only is Jacob a genius mad scientist who designs all this himself, but he also has the best of all the possible British accents ever. And also, his mom (who works with him, I'm not just randomly complementing his mother) is such a sweetheart! Awesome team.
it looks like the Phaetus Dragon UHF, nothing super special in the high flow hotend world but its a volcano variant of a Dragon HF and E3D Roto extruder i mean it's alot of bang for your buck, it's not like overpriced Slice hotends but similar performance to the magnum probably either way very solid hotend, and with Volcano CHTs wont be a slouch lol, it's easily 60+mm³/s this hotend is literally that high flow that cooling has to be very powerful on the printer to really max it out, a few 5015s wont be enough thats forsure

Their enthusiasm for the industry really shines through with the fact that they are taking personal emails for unofficial pre-orders because you can tell they just want to get this machine into peoples hands so bad they literally cannot wait.
I remember seeing Jacob on a video a good couple of years ago and straight away I thought this kid is going places. There's some high profile people, not just in the 3D printer world, I could compare him to, but I think in the not too distant future some bright young spark of energy will come along, and we'll say 'he could be the next Jacob'. It's a pleasure to watch and experience his development as a big player in this industry.

Is this klipper? Is it Reprap but with the pi for the interface? I remember him saying he didn't like Klipper in an industrial context so I'm very curious about what this is.
@construct3d Can you expand on what SBC Compute comprises of? I'm very curious about what the PI it self is responsible for with Reprap. I'm thinking things like octoprint, spaghetti, maybe even auto input shaper calibration which I don't think Reprap has by itself yet?
@@BeefIngot RRF and Klipper when using a Pi is actually really similar in how they use the PI for the movement compute, and then hand over the commands to the mainboard for simple motor control. What differs when using a SBC instead of just the mainboard is some of the following: 2.4 + 5ghz wifi, at VERY good speeds Ethernet Can run encrypted gcode Multiple high resolution camera support Can run full python and C scripts behind the scenes Can play doom whilst printing Full offline and airgapped capability without functionality loss Can run much more power intensive AI programs. Think spaghetti detector on steroids Also can data log MUCH higher levels of accuracy which is great for print monitoring before things go wrong there is a lot more, but this post is already getting kinda long P.S Nvidia AGX Orin is blursed
Manually adjusting the heaters in real time would be diabolical. To clarify what I said (as I was VERY sleep deprived when this was filmed) Some materials actually can want variable chamber temps, additionally, as the bed moves down the effective output of specific heaters changes, so the printer needs to dynamically switch which heaters are being used.
We are currently still undecided about the final price. So far we have gotten LOTS of great feedback and its looking to be within the £7000-£10000 range. There are a lot more features that I just couldn't cover in a nice YT overview.

@@TheScarvig Absolutely. Whilst it may be a year or two, but our current plan is to use the success of an industrial model to improve the scale we can operate at for the lower end with higher value higher performance consumer machines. As with most things, it all comes down to scale
construct 3d is one of t he only companies planning on doing an AMS a like that i think will make it super easy and industrial ready, and thats because of RRF, i dont personally like RRF, but CAN-FD in RRF is next level, makes CAN in Klipper look like, well, CNA in klipper, CAN-FD on RRF is simple and, i hate to use the phrase, but just works, which is what industrial needs.
You can thank Stratasys for the general printer mfg not having active heated chambers. As they have maintained a patent past its statutory timeline. Should be open to any mfg to heat a chamber as of 4 years ago.......

Camera was shaking and shifting a lot. Maybe some post-processing stabilization or in the future a tripod or wider angle with camera based stabilization.
The Hardware on this machine looks AMAZING, but if the software that can be used to control it sucks, the user experience can be extremley harmed... What would be the recommended slicer? Will there be pre configured profiles for printin?
wanna know a secret/ We actually have measured 60 mm3 with regular PETG. But to make sure we cover all materials we normally advertise much less. Under promise, over deliver!
@@jacobm2625 All of this was measured with a 0.6mm CHT abrasive resistant nozzle as that will be the default for the machine. You can get more if you swap it with brass, but most users will be printing CF/GF materials
@@construct3d Not really as a lot of companies do thier own thing unfortunately. But some colors should be reserved as absolute specials like yellow, green, amber and maybe also blue. Maybe you could consider even mixing it with white with your argb settings. As from my aircraft experience i would prefer system relevant things, like status or events as green or blue. problems without causing something harmful orange and the most problematic red. the others should be reserved for your own whishes i guess. Also solid color and flashing, fast flashing is a good option to diverge. EDIT: As in your video: purple should not be a crit failure.. more like a flashing red. And the yellow just for babysitting moments could also be triggered like a feature moment with blue or light flashing blue. So no panic is provoked. But what if the lid is not fully closed? orange. Like this. :) gl
I'd strongly suggest to go 400x400x Xx cause there's just cool. I wanna Know more about the ideas of the leveraging the computer. I was so into their ams system from last year. Looking forward to see more
You could get off the shelf parts to turn your car into something out of Fast & Furious, but would you be competant to put them all together? What I mean to say is, if you can do it yourself, go for it, have fun. If not, or you simply don't have the time for the effort, someone like Jacob is EXACTLY what you want.

Knowing when to use off the shelf is a very hard and humble pill to swallow. What sets us apart differently however is application of parts, and the level of research and testing to guarantee the parts (and companies) we use actually perform better than if we did full custom on our own
I feal like this printer is a solution looking for a problem to solve that doesn’t exist. Zero industrial company is going to allow operators that kind of control. This is why in the cancer world you have programmers and operators. You give operators programming control and you destroy chain of custody in your programming and it’s all down hill.the operator will be given a thumb drive with a printed sheet with the details. Thy walk to the machine and start. Also hardening because of radio interference from other industrial machines is not really a problem as no one is going to be putting this next to a concern plasma as the dust will destroy it. Also chic plasma does not use high voltage arc start anymore so also it’s not really an issue. My concern plasma table has a monitor and in computer built right onto it and when I designed it I didn’t do anything special to cut done on noise and I have zero problems.
Enthusiastic guy and i hope they do well, but to be honest was really disappointed with the engineering of their printers, with very outdated components questionable choices in their kinematics and a printer thats not worth half the cost its selling at. Would of been impressive to see them insualate their printer better than just add a heater. 75c can be achieved by uaing the bed only if insulated correctly.
the hidden 8mm insulation we have on the inside of the printer does actually let the printer get upto 75C. The peaker heater is just so you dont have to heat soak it for an hour to do so 😉
@construct3d apprieciate the reply. 8mm isn't going to do a whole lot, (material dependant). especially as you haven't dealt with the door or top. Ideally you want something like 20mm of insulation on the walls and a double paneled door to give you the insulation needed to easily get up to 75c in the chamber with no extra heater. The end of the day, you bed is already a chamber heater so if your struggling with getting up to 75c with a bed of 100c. You have bad insulation.
@@construct3d I'd rather a cheap but ugly printer that performs well: printer aesthetics don't make quality prints after all (really I just wish I could afford one, but after exchange rate these are gonna be like 4x a Bambu printer)
For the level of research and design choices that they have taken and its inherent quality, it's not too shoddy a price for a UK product, and spanks an Ultimaker. The hot end alone will halve or more current print times at those flow rates.

With all those bells and whistles they still couldn't make a decent chamber light that wouldn't burn my eyes even from behind the screen.

Its fully programable, so you can re-map any colour to the individual users requirements

They need to make them look prettier, I know they are marketed towards industrial use but even so, they are ugly printers.
Your damn right. Which is why we have our Designer class printers. Very similar performance, Much more affordable and absolutely beautiful
