Fleb do you pause the camera, do any puzzle work, and then unpause all at 3:41? Holding hte puzzle with the lock and word 'padlock' face up, notice that the orientation of the upper silver piece changes. The whole is on the OUTSIDE for the upper silver piece at 3:40, and is on the INSIDE at 3:42. This is driving me crazy!!
Yes! I set up the puzzle so that it would easily slide. The movements of this puzzle can be a little bit finicky and I didn't want to waste people's time rattling the puzzle! The only movements are sliding the outside pieces around the puzzle, though, to set up the correct orientation.
i am not a huge puzzle lover, but as soon as i saw it 2 or 3 months ago i order it right away, was fun solvening it! My first disassemble was by accident, but i learned how it works by assembling it

i had to keep myself from watching the video because i was waiting for this puzzle to arrive on mail, but i'm proud to say that i solved it myself! a thing i noticed though, aren't you supposed to do the first move a second time after the second move? i checked and it seems that there's no way around that. did you intentionally omit that step?
I imagine how fleb punishes his daughter he puts her favorite toy in a puzzle box. Either she can't figure it out and fleb has to do the puzzle, or she gets the toy and learns problem solving skills it's a win win!

It would be cool! Unfortunately, you have to turn the lock two different ways, so you can't loop something around the middle. There are lots and lots of trick lock puzzles, though! Those actually do function as locks for the most part! Happy parenting to you as well!!! :)

I think it depends on how well you keep track of the disassembly! For instance, there are a number of burr-like puzzles which are much harder if you start with it disassembled! You could also design a puzzle which assembles differently than it disassembles. If you had a puzzle which involved solving a physical maze to take it off, you could create one-way gates, which means that you could make the reassembly harder than the disassembly.
Your puzzle solution does not work. Since 3:40, you edited your solution. The way you showed the last step of solution is not right. BTW congratulations on your baby girl!

This puzzle is rated a 5 but I think it is underrated. It is the only level 5 puzzle I really struggled on.

This was the first Hanayama puzzle I solved! Took me about three hours but when it finally comes apart, it feels awesome!

You missed a step! You have to reverse the hooks after the step 3, otherwise a tooth will prevent you from separating them!

I just can't get the first "swap" to happen, think I can't quite get it to wiggle enough room, going to try a bit and then reply to myself.
