I miss when DeG was this bold with their compositions. I still love them to death but I feel like they rarely take risks anymore, most of their post-Arche material is very unimaginative. This sort of fucked up take on extreme metal they were doing circa DSS was absolutely fantastic.This is one of the weirdest, most surreal pieces of music I ever heard, its atmosphere is unmatched
Hmm. I can agree on TIS being a little lacking in terms of originality, but I wouldn’t exactly call Phalaris unimaginative. It’s different stylistically, but the stuff before that was as well - DSS was always a bit of an outlier in my opinion (but not necessarily in a bad way).
