hey guys. today we're learning most people primarily use wax resist for.
this video will show you the very easy and simple step of how to use wax resist. what wax resist is for. And it was at the foundation for what you will need in later videos when we use it.
from this point forward I'm going to assume you know what wax resist is and how it is used.
this is part 1 of the series and we will definitely be making a part 2, 3, and perhaps even 4.

But Donte! I thought we was gonna get into some fun wax resist techniques in this vid :( I'll have to wait for the next one, but I know they're coming.
I just have to show people what wax resist is for those who don't know what it is first.
Parts two and three will have some fun stuff ;)
My studio owner doesn't allow wax resist because she doesn't like the odor/fumes when it burns off in the kiln. We sometimes use liquid latex, but honestly, willing the bottoms is easier than that is.
Hm, I've never noticed the smell
Thank you! Love your videos!!!
My pottery teacher had a pot of molten paraffin wax that we'd just lightly dip the foot in and it was ready for glazing no brush needed.
That works too. But then I have to have a pot of the stuff ready at all times and most of us probably just don't have the kind of space that a whole classroom has.or I so would
Does wax resist create a lot of fumes when it burns off in the kiln? Thank you for he video, super entertaining and informative 😁
Oh no. You have to have a really Keen nose to smell it and most of wax resist is just wax and water.
Sometimes it creates a little steam if you put it in without letting it dry first but that's about it.
There's no research that suggests that burning wax is harmful no more than a candle :)
must wax resist be applied only on bisque? are there different types of wax resist or do you recommend one that suits most clays?
My friend with a kiln does not want me using wax resist as she says it will damage her kiln?
Hi Dante, I’ve just started dipping after using brush on glazes for years but, although I put a little blob of glaze where my tongs had been, I still get marks in the glaze when it’s been fired, any suggestions? Wanted to say thanks for your videos, learned how to throw from them! 😃😃😃
Thank you, this was so helpful !
Your videos are a delight! I look forward to meeting you in Cincinnatti next year perhaps!!! Well done. Really well done.
“Donte! Get that wax-resist. Stop sitting there rubbing off all day!” :D
