That ash help nutrilize the soil ph. I like that green cover broadcast blend. Wheat, rye, oats, chicory, radish red and white clover awesome mix u guys got there
That’ll be a nice spot this fall. Putting my brassicas in this week (rain is on the way). We have work to do to create hidey holes….next years plan. Thanks for the insight. Good luck this season.
Beans and peas are much larger seed than what most folks broadcast. However, if folks get successful crops with these species by broadcasting. This depends on the soil type, timing and quantity of rain, soil temperature, etc. Some folks terminate the fall crop, broadcast the larger-sized seed, then mow or weedeat the standing dead crop as a cover for the broadcast seed.
Justin - I don't. Decaying plant material (the roots and material left on top the soil) is basic (a higher pH) so the pH will balance over time. I haven't added any lime in 10+ years! Adding lime can speed up the process in some areas, but there's still negatives such as the weight of spreading lime causes soil compaction.
No - I plant blends from GreenCoverFoodPlots.com. I strongly prefer blends over single species. Blends will produce more tonnage and work better in a wider range of soils!
How long would you say clover, oats and wheat can sit on the ground? I did this exact thing before a 60% chance of rain well it didn’t rain of course:((
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and keep your videos coming please.
We've done three of these this year. Will try fire when I can but the rake and leaf blower did so well I've been impressed. Excited for october
Excellent video 👍🦌

Well done Daniel, enjoy your videos. Going to be some good antlers and healthy deer here this year...
If we waited for rain to come, we’d be still be waiting 😢
I know your pain!
3 months with little to no rain. First time in recorded weather history.
Does the same burn and spread seed application work with the April-May summer plot? Peas and summer seeds won't come up on bare ground, will they?

We are in burn ban because of severe drought, what is rain?
Do you still have to adjust pH with lime when you plant with the release method?
