      Looking at the Australian spec, Dynamic has 110kw charging against 150kw and of course 61.44 kWh Battery against 82.56 kWh, 150 kWh motor against 230 kw motor. We do have double glazed screen and front doors. Seats are heated and ventilated. Tyres on Dynamic aren’t specified but Giti Comfort have been mentioned in Facebook I like the 18 inch wheel design on Dynamic better! One other thing, Australian Importers have a dedicated assembly line and vehicles are customised for Australia.

      The Seal is really an interesting choice in Australia, I wish we had such options in Europe too. That's interesting about the dedicated assembly line.. is it mainly because of the right-hand drive, would you say?

    Auto-tilt is not folding. Auto tilt is a feature that adjusts the mirror orientation when you reverse to see the curb/side/obstacles. When you set D, then it adjusts to the normal position again... it is like having two memory positions for the mirrors, one for D and one for R. It is very handy, and you don't need to compromise the mirror position to "see everything for everything situation".

    • @stevenleonards4843
      @stevenleonards4843 Год назад

      When you have 360 cameras this feature is redundant

    • @frangrau3750
      @frangrau3750 Год назад +5

      @@stevenleonards4843 for me it isn't. In a 360 cam it is hard to see if you are going to scratch your wheel against the curbside. Or when obstacles have weird shapes, the mirrors give you better information while reversing.
      That is MHO ;)

    • @stevenleonards4843
      @stevenleonards4843 Год назад

      @frangrau3750 i accept your reasoning but it's not compelling enough to consider the premium over the dynamic.
      The premium is not faster to charge, it has more cells, so overall charge time for the same number of kws is the same.
      The ADAS systems are shocking, so there is no point in paying a premium for a car with software that is yet to be properly calibrated
      The sedan form factor is out of fashion, and it's generating interest as its new, resale will be terrible when newer platform ev suvs are released
      If price isn't a consideration, sure, but the seal is just not exciting enough of a drive to justify spending any more than the absolute minimum.
      The performance model will be a bargain purchase as a used car. That will be 40% off as a 2 year old car with low mileage.

    • @siasek
      @siasek  Год назад

      The auto-tilt didn't occur to me because of the 360 camera as well, but I guess it makes sense the way you describe it @frangrau3750.
      @stevenleonards4843 I also think making it a sedan wasn't the best choice. It's one of the reasons I wouldn't get a Seal.

    How about what's the difference between Design and Excellence compared to those?

    • @siasek
      @siasek  25 дней назад

      Hey, thanks for asking! The main differences between them primarily come down to performance, drive type, range, and some additional features.
      Design (RWD):
      Single electric motor powering the rear wheels
      About 308 horsepower
      0-62 mph in roughly 5.9 seconds
      Up to around 354 miles of range
      And it comes with features like a panoramic roof, keyless entry, leather memory seats, and a 360° camera.
      Excellence (AWD):
      Dual electric motors and all-wheel drive
      Approximately 530 horsepower
      0-62 mph in around 3.8 seconds
      Slightly shorter range, around 323 miles
      And some extra touches like a head-up display and semi-adaptive suspension.
      Basically the Design trim focuses on a solid balance of efficiency, range, and comfort, while the Excellence emphasizes higher performance, faster acceleration, and more advanced driving features.

Incidentally, even here within the European Union confines, different countries do have different fiscal systems, and then trademarks would work out around them. And, of course they work with general market consensus to certain car aspects. In summary, for example for Portugal where I live, they'll to make the base version the less expensive possible, preferably in a black inside color and a gray outside one. This is for where the market pushes...

    I have driven the dynamic and premium for 45 minutes each. City traffic and some highways between suburbs and the M3 highland rwd on the same day.
    Things I noticed
    The dynamic on its smaller tyres is more comfortable over bumps
    The acceleration in start stop traffic is more than adequate in the dynamic, the premium feels like a heavier car
    The steering on these cars is ultra light, if you're used to euros like 3 series, the byd is very boring. The Model 3 is more direct, darty and actually fun to push to its limits
    The BYD feels more like a 5 or 7 series BMW designed to gobble up miles, not really to have fun with
    I felt absolutely no difference in comfort between fake and genuine leather. The premium is not genuine leather, it's vegan. Go sit in a 2019 Audi A4 or BMW 7 series, you can see and feel the soft grain. The BYD quilted seats look and feel like pleather
    The HUD is a nice feature but not a deal breaker, the instrument cluster is more than adequate
    The infotainment software is not very sophisticated but full screen wireless Android auto works very well
    The sound system is the same on both and not a patch on the model 3s.
    If 400km range between charges is adequate, the dynamic with its $12,000 price advantage over the model 3 is the one to get. It is lighter and more nimble when changing direction.
    And this is the only reason to buy the byd.
    If you are spending over 60k definitely go with the tesla.
    It is much more sophisticated product that is actually fun to drive. When you push the premium, there is a lag in acceleration and the steering feedback is so dull, it feels like you are driving an arcade simulator. Very boring.
    The dynamic has everything you need, most importantly an instrument cluster, Android auto, comfortable suspension, and excellent 0-50km/hr times for city traffic, at a significant discount to the model 3. Resale will be much better in 2 years compared to the premium and performance which I think will get hammered when more ev suvs hit the road.

      Thank you so much for sharing your experience! The Seal is a really interesting choice in Australia for that price, not so interesting in Europe. I see it similarly as you, the base Dynamic is perfectly sufficient, it's not a premium car that makes sense to pay extra for. But it does offer a lot of bang for the buck.
