Mark is correct. "You're Living All Over Me" was initially released while the band was still called "Dinosaur". Although most of the record pressings included the "Jr.", the first few did not. Source: I own one.
AlternativeGamer99 But Mudhoney was massive back in the early 90’s. They were written about by all the music papers, in the UK at least anyway. A lot of people would have put their money on them being the next big band and not Nirvana.
I don't think they wanted it.. that was part of the reason green river split up. I heard in an interview that Jeff & stone's ambitious nature was causing a big rift in that band
Mudhoney made me pick up a guitar. They had the 60's garage / Stooges / Psyche / Punk all wrapped up. I got a fuzz and a wah and that was it. I saw them in 1992 when everything was really hitting. I think I lost my shoe in the pit, but found it after. Thanks dudes! I still play in bands looking for that vibe.
I listen to Alice, Soundgarden, mudhoney, screaming trees , earth, nirvana Melvin's smashing pumpkins Lemonheads Jane's addiction, sebadoh dinosaur, Afghan Whigs, hater, l7 faith no more and chilli's because good music is good music any year/decade. End of.
Louis Batsford I guess I’m a little different I grew up listening to 1960s music. Bob Dylan the doors stones Beatles etc I got into nirvana but really never listened to the bands Kurt liked like mud honey is one called tad? Black flag etc
Notice how the most popular bands of that era don't like to be classified as "Grunge" but the lesser known bands usually embrace it as a marketing tool!
It's my understanding Mark Arm was in fact the individual who coined the term "grunge" in regards to the Seattle scene. I don't think it's a shameful moniker either. This is stated in the film Hype
No one's really sure I dont think. They called thier music" pure grunge pure shit" or something and some people think that's were it came from.. others think it was sub pop that came up with it.. Idk
@@dmvconartists2542 Yes I think it was Mark Arm who came up with the term for the scene (though the word itself excisted long before), and Bruce Pavitt of Sub Pop started to use it in their promotional output, first for Green River (1987). Then the press picked it up from there. I don't think it was ever ment to represent a musical genre, it was a label for specifically the Seattle scene. Kurt Cobain initially used the term ocasionally, but after major labels started to contract "Grunge" bands, (even bands that had no roots in Seattle/WA) the underground scene was over, the word became useless and he distanced Nirvana from it. For a lot of musicians coming from Seattle/WA, the term became a joke.
they point out Australian bands like the Scientists, Beasts of Bourbon were coined "grunge" and this was in the mid80s. you should be familiar with the Scientists...they are still active and just released a new lp. no band embraced grunge. they made a punk album and abandoned that sound before Nevermind even came out.

I’m still listening to Alice In Chains and I’m 55. I’ll listen to them to the day I die. Still you get to a point in your life where you stop moving on to new music. @@map3384 dave grohls success after nirvana although great/amazing, seems OFF. music definitely not close to as good as nirvanas was but unable to get kurt back, i think people just settled for foo fighters
You know, you can totally listen to Mudhoney and The Presidents of the United States of America. They both kick ass, just in different ways. I know Steve's not saying you can't, but that juxtaposition would seem weird to some people.
what is this band he mentions at 1:24 ... Raddit Raddar? Can't find anything through Google no matter how I spell it. Surprised there's a NY Noise band I haven't heard of and can't find through Google even.
I’ve always liked mudhoney and it’s a big shame that soon to be irrelevant bands like nirvana and Pearl jam overshadowed them and mudhiney were not given more attension typical market the popular overnight sensations and leave the bands with actual talent behind
How right you are. My sons look at me strange when I listen to Grunge music, especially Alice In Chains and say to me what the fuck is that crap. Pisses me off.
@@map3384 don’t know if it’s worth anything but I’m 19 and I’ve been listening to hands like mudhoney, tad, 64 spiders, gas huffer (etc) since I was around 5 years old. Just watched them two days ago at "Antone's" in Austin TX opening for the Meat Puppets. I delivered a DEMO of our songs to them. Happy unforgettable day. If you into grunge check our channel... thank you
The reason that the punk scene sprang up simultaneously around the world despite the fact these bands could not have even known or heard of each other yet was because the entertainment industry is an asset of military intelligence and it is directed by the CIA. That is why the hail Satan symbol was adopted and never abandoned by the industry, an that is why some of these deaths don't look like suicide or the accidents they tell us. CIA monitors, military intel enforces The infrastructure for these bands to play is put together before they organize the formation of these bands, and you will find military intel connections in a lot of these artist families.
how come you dont like todays indie bands then? so many have that similar sound. maybe a little bubble grunge or the like ...im 49 and i really dig the scene. mannequin pussy, skating polly, wolf alice, speedy ortiz, starcrawler, the regrettes....my fave band is charly bliss which has serious pixies guitar style. vocals might be too sugary for you but i absolutely love them and i am a former metal head, hardcore punk..grunge lover..heavy music...anyway...peace...the music is out there. there is also a lot of new shoegaze bands if you are a fan of my bloody valentine like me...i love guitar driven music. heavy riffs and hooks.
Suck You Dry is the most gurngiest song and grungiest video. They were underrated, but them and sonic youth were the best less push it in your face "mainstream" bands of the era. Lol, and I was all of like 3 years old so I don't even remember haha
Personally, I grew up likeing grunge as a teenager, then I eventually grew sick of most of it. A lot of that is anger at Cobain for killing himself and being a herion addict. I think my childhood rock hero was pathetic mostly for killing himself, and for being a feminist. Feminism has no place in my world and I don't respect Cobain for supporting feminism.

Really don't understand why these guys never got more attention..
Because they were/are not radio friendly.
They didn't become whores to the record companies.

same here. not happy they specifically called them out. alice in chains appeals to the metal community too.....

Absolutely. Their music never gets old.

Shut up lol
Feminism is hot garbage, and Cobain was not particularly feminist in behavior, while his public stance was for consumption.
I think the heroin slowed them down. Also, they were way more punk sounding than the other bands. Most of them were sludgy metal bands.
that was definitely his demise
Love these two opinionated music nerds!
Kurt was murdered
Agreed, but shh
The Grassy Knoll guy came out of retirement to do the hit.
Shut the fuck up.. every fucking idiot on a seattle band interview has to type that at least 2 times each..

At this point I can debunk every aspect of the murder theory.. try me
