  • In this video we are taking a deep look into the JBL Link Music, 360 degree speaker.
We are going to show you how to open up the speaker in step-by-step instructions (in case you are trying to open it up yourself). So you can follow this video and will be able to disassemble and reassemble the speaker without visible marks.
The video shows all the internal components, PCBs, motherboard, power supply, wifi antennas, driver, passive radiators, etc.
This speaker does not come with a built in battery, so there is no need to replace one as the speaker gets older.

Very very informative video! Thanks! Have you ever experienced the issue where the audio quality degrades when the PCB gets to hot?

Thanks for the video - very interesting. Do you know if desoldering the microphones would enable the speaker to continue working without any microphone functionality? I know there's a microphone mute button, but I was hoping to remove (or at least disconnect) the microphones altogether.

Interesting idea, I never though of that!
Removing the microphone shouldn’t have any other impact on the speaker - at least that I can think of, since there is no active noise cancellation or other features that require the mic.

Good breakdown but you glossed over the removal of the rubber port for the power plug which if you don't do you can't remove the bottom cover.
I picked up a cheap one but unfortunately the buttons don't work I suspect it is a Demo model. I contacted JBL but they wouldn't tell me if it was or not.

The device on the video has power amp based on TPA3118 chip and DAC based on PCM5121. It is a pretty decent setup for audio.
The video does not show the processor for Google smart features. JBL link portable has MT8516. I suspect this speaker shall have the same chip somewhere.

The Link Music system seems to be an impeccable one that tend to create smooth tasks and also high res sound with the mediatek technology.

    It doesn't have battery?

No, it does not. The Link Music has to be connected through its power cord. However, JBL has similar models that do have batteries and are portable.

what is the USB port for on the bottom side?

    • @MegaSafetyFirst
      @MegaSafetyFirst  3 года назад +2

I believe it is just a service port, used for software updates.
In the field JBL doesn’t seem to use it though.

Demo units have a different software. It is not possible to disable the demo mode. It would have to be updated with the regular software.
