    I've been considering the z400 as a light touring bike. It's nice that I found your channel.

      It does a really good job at everything honestly. The fastest speed limit here is 70mph and it will hold it with 10-15kg of luggage on the back no problem. I haven't taken a passenger with it, but as a solo machine it's great

    This is so inspiring. I really appreciate you talking about so much different stuff too, because so much of this video felt like you were talking directly to me! Fears about road surfaces, putting feet down, especially what you said about range anxiety. It's really nice to see someone talk about that stuff and still go out there and have a great time doing it. Reassures me that it's possible for me too haha!

      It's the OEX Leviathan! I was planning to go to everest base camp before covid ruined that, so I bought myself a nice toasty sleeping bag. The marketing reckons you can use it all the way down to -16 degrees which is just nonsense. I reckon with a good tent and base layers you'll be warm down to about 0 in this bag, but not much lower

    If you can get up to Scotland you should try some of the twisties here. It will improve your riding so much. Loch Lomond through Glen Coe to Oban, Mallaig ect. If you're brave enough you might want to try the Applecross pass. Plenty of videos on You-tube. You are doing so well. From someone who fell off your bike on your 125cc at the petrol station to where you are now. You should be so proud of yourself.

    Something a bit different!
    Great for being aware of, and pushing your mind and skill set - many others (sometimes me) would just try to avoid the things they aren't comfortable with!
    Not a fan of camping personally, but you seem well up for it!
    Hopefully I'll be able to try some gentle UK touring at some point, likely Wales or the West Country as I love those areas - Wales has some truly epic riding/driving roads and scenery.. I'll definitely favour solid walls overnight rather then canvas!

      I've been too good at avoiding things I don't like, such as slow speed practice, and it bit me in the butt 😬so now I'm determined to go out and develop as many skills as possible. Wales is awesome! I did that in a car with perfect weather and I was so sad I wasn't on the bike :(

    Great vlog, I think everyone gets nervous on those sketchy roads. I took my bagger up the Hardknott pass, that was equal parts scary and hilarious. Can I suggest that you slow the voiceover down ? seems like you're trying to cram all the words in. Keep up the good work!

    • @ayserides

      Hardknott is terrifying haha but my goal is to be able to do it. Sure! Sorry about that. I've heard that before too and this is me actually trying to talk slower 😬😂when I watch RUclips I put everything on 1.5x speed so that's the pace I've become used to hearing words at

    I must admit I prefer the comfort of a proper bed now. I loved camping when I was younger though.
    One question I have and it is not related to the video's subject but more to your bike. I have the same bike and I find on a longer journey I get pins and needles and my hand goes numb in my excelerator hand from the vibrations. Do you find that as well? I love the z400 that is my only issue with it. I also have a Monky bike but if I do the same distance on that I don't have the same problem.
    Just wondering if it is just me or just my bike.

    • @ayserides
      @ayserides  2 года назад +1

      So my friend had the z650 and she complained about numb hands. I didn't get numb fingers until right at the last part of the journey, but I definitely felt it a little bit. I think maybe because most of the motorway was 60mph temporary restrictions the bike wasn't buzzing so bad, so maybe that's why I didn't feel the numbness earlier
      Also do you have stock grips? I have oxford heated grips which are maybe soaking up the vibrations a bit

    • @ozzyprogdomino8815
      @ozzyprogdomino8815 2 года назад

      @@ayserides I have oxford heated grip as well, but normally after about 40 mins they go numb but I tend not to ride motorways.
      The z650 has the bigger version of the parallel twin that the z400 has so it interesting that it has issues as well.
      I have put some Gripp Puppies over my grips and I am not sure they have help with the vibes but they have improved throttle control, so I think I will keep them on.

    • @ayserides
      @ayserides  2 года назад +1

      The next time I go on a long trip I'm going to get one of those wrist rest things. At least that way I'll be able to loosen my grip and wiggle my fingers every now and then

    • @Cookie69697
      @Cookie69697 2 года назад +1

      The reason you are getting pins and needles in your hands is your arm position could be wrong along with holding on too tight. You can get the same problem on a road bicycle, also some get pain in their upper trapezius. Loosen your grip on the handlebars and try dropping your elbows you will find all is well. Just a light grip is needed. You should see a few videos on RUclips. Hope this helps....
