I’ve noticed that when I’m on keto my gut feels great. But the moment I now cheat with sweets or carbs really causes a lot of gi problems. My system has really adapted to keto and straying away from it is not fun.

When I go home to Singapore, my mom makes me a concoction of honey and fresh guava leaves. It is simply amazing. My brother who is sceptical about anything which is recommended to him by his family, even suggested the guava leaf drink to his friends. As I live in London, I cannot find guava leaves but I can find guavas. So that is my substitute ..I blend the whole fruit and mix with a tspful of honey. It works ..

I don’t knock your diet. I just worry that in the long term a vegan diet destroys gut health and also leaves you vitamin and mineral deficient. I just don’t want you to get sick.
If veganism showed to leave people consistently healthier i’d be vegan too. But, it does at the beginning because the people eat less processed food with less antibiotics and less pesticides. Later though there are lots of deficiencies that become difficult to fix.

I’m definitely going to try the turmeric and peppermint. I’m not sure if I’ve ever had sauerkraut but I may give it a try as well.

Thanks a lot for your videos Thomas, they are very informative! However, this is probably the first one where I disagree, speaking from personal experience .
As a long-time IBS-C sufferer with LOTS of pain from time to time , I've done lots and lots (and lots...) of research / trial an error. None of those widely suggested supplements have helped me, and I have also experimented very much with my diet - FODMAP originally helped, but I found it super difficult to keep it properly and ended up getting stressed when I had some of the high-FODMAP foods. The only thing that I have actually found out helps me was deep, slow breathing on a daily basis (esp. Pranayama techniques and the Wim Hof method). The added benefit here - it's free, and anyone can do it. I also use magnesium on a daily basis. From what I've read, as everyone is different, they will need to find their own personal solution that works for them. Good luck everyone!

While low Fodmap diet does not help every single person who tries it, the majority of those who were followed during the Monash University research saw a positive result . Turmeric is great but if you have IBS ,you're better of taking a good quality high dose supplement that adding to foods .Peppermint oil or even tea is also a great soothing option which I have been drinking 2 plus mugs daily for about 10 years. IBS is a complicated thing and all of the above methods can help manage it.

Another thing you guys and gals should worry about is exercising too much. You need like 2/3 rest days especially if youve been going at it too hard and are exercising across the day. Try to compress the routine into an hours session, and not across half the day. For me it was just too much exercise and eating salad/spinach too often. I've come to accept that salad is like a cleansing food and that I cant eat it everyday. Also if you make protein shakes with milk, try to avoid that also. I have a vegan chocolate protein mix where I can just add cold water and a banana to the mix avoiding the milk. Think about it like this, you may still eat these fermenting foods just reduce the amount and choose your favorites or needs over the wants to reduce the excess intake.
It's really just about excess intake and excess exercise.

Low fodmap foods can definitely help! Just to cast it off by saying, "there is no conclusive evidence" is as ignorant as saying that for keto and fasting! Maybe because it doesn't help your methods/products? But I think you are better than this and should re-evaluate your position. There are many people, including me who have been helped by low fodmap. Also, you talk about adding things to "our tea or coffee" caffeine is terrible for IBS!

  • @ericabocos7904
    @ericabocos7904 6 лет назад +6

I disagree with your opinion in regards to the effectiveness of the low fodmap diet regardless of the amount of research you have done.
It's just a other man's opinion over many.
Firstly being on this diet stopped my episodes of diarrhea and brought balance back into my bowel movements.
Whilst the diet may not work for everyone, we cannot discredit it completely as failure.
Each person needs to understand their own body function and we need to acknowledge that not every model fits or may be successful for all.
We are all on a journey to find what works best for our body, mind and soul and what works for one may not work for another.
I do however agree that adding Turmeric to your daily consumption of food can enhance gut wellbeing, however peppermint oil does not agree with every one's gut nor does sauerkraut regardless of the wonderful benefits it has.
We need to keep an open mind about people's experiences and encourage them when they have found what works for them personally.

Turmeric is a wonderful food, I began taking prebiotics and cut down on a lot of gluten. After that the IBS disappeared. Oh, and diary was a big one to cut out. But now that IBS is not a problem anymore I can eat diary in moderation again. And raw veggies, salads, all the great foods that I was not even able to tolerate anymore because of IBS.
Now I have cut out meats and I am seeing great health results overall from that. Introduced a lot more soy: again: wonderful health results.
With IBS there are so many important foods that have to be cut out so IBS hurts a person in so many different ways. I am so happy to be able to introduce foods again that are healthy, am preparing beans again, with a higher cooking temp to get as many leptins out as possible.
Will try sweet potatoes again, but boiling them to make them much more digestable.
Food is a science and medicine if one continues to learn its benefits.
I am so excited to keep learning how certain very simple foods, almost always herbal or vegetables truly have medicinal properties. That makes me sooo happy, gauge their effect every day, and then learning about foods that are medicine and how they work, while having eaten them before without paying attention to their special properties, is so gratifying.
To learn all that makes one a very powerful adversary for his or her own health.
The power to be able to influence your own health positively is a great power, it is a power that enables you to sever the dependence on modern medicine, enables you to further your own health while entrusting in your own research.
It is really scary at first to completely trust yourself with health matters instead of just going the same route most people go: to go to modern doctors.
