I was like you, I hated to exercise. It seemed to flare my fibromyalgia. At age 55, I tried a water aerobics class at my local gym and have been doing it every sinc. Over the past 10 years, I now have a whole community of friends there. If I miss a class, I get texts asking me where I am. We know about each other's lives. We celebrate monthly birthdays. It is one of the best social situations I have ever experienced. And those friendships keep me going.
I'm 73. I set my FitBit to 5,000 steps a day (includes walking in the house, etc, so it's not necessarily a 5,000-step, one-time walk, which is a little over 2 miles). I have nice, firm, well-defined biceps, and just about all I've done there is 25 pushups against the edge of the countertop in the kitchen. I also do a 20-30-second squat. You'll never guess when I do the pushups and the squat. WHILE I'M WAITING FOR MY NESPRESSO TO BREW!!! 😊
5,000 steps a day means you’re keeping your body in motion - and motion is lotion for your joints. You have inspired me to get off my butt and get movin’ more. Thank you!
From Cindy: I also do counter push ups (while I fill the Berkey) and my 50 sumo squats each time I brush my teeth. Steps happen doing chores and packing grandbabies around. Life is good at 74.
Same here. Every excuse in the book I tell myself. At 59 I have no time to lose to try and increase the muscle and cardio health I’ve lost. Only wish to lose 5-6 lbs but body recomp - let’s GO!

@Neisha Here's a thought. I HATED exercise and never felt better afterward. I discovered the P.A.C.E program ( Dr Sears version of HIIT training. It's basically a 12 minute workout with rest intervals. Anyway, absolutely love the way I feel afterwards AND you break a sweat. I saw this program totally sculpt my girlfriends body. It didn't sculpt mine because I'm only 2 months in on Carnivore 😂. You won't believe the changes in your body in 4 months!
It doesn’t make sense to go to a restaurant on Valentine’s Day. Yesterday, I saw a young couple in the park having a picnic at a low table covered with a white tablecloth , and topped with vases of roses and candelabras. Fun. Bonnie’s crawling!
YOU can do it!! What helps me is I work out (with my own body weight, no equipment needed) FIRST thing in the morning when I get up! My first cup of coffee is my reward. After losing 32 pounds on carnivore I’d like to get some muscle in my arms and tone my tummy!!
You have the most important job in the world...at this point in your life! It will go by so quickly! Embrace this time of your life & be happy you are there for your babies!
My daily workout consists of 300 squats (picking up clothes and nerf bullets) rigorous upperbody (dishes) and about 4 hours of cardio (constantly getting up to take the dogs outside) 😂

Caroline Girvan on RUclips has TONS of video follow along workouts both with weights and bodyweight workouts which are all amazing and motivate me to workout. I seriously cannot workout without her videos. They all have timers on the screen and keep you interested and always guessing on what's to come, no repeats so it's never boring!

I do HIIT workouts about 3-4 days a week, going on nearly 2 years and it has been great for my health. I have lost just over 100lbs. since I started my journey to loose weight naturally in 2019. I am looking forward to meeting ya'll on the Low Carb Cruise in June.
My workout: Since I retired last May, I watch Silver Sneakers live online classes and do what I can. I am limited in mobility so I have to be creative with the workouts. But I am up to 8 lb dumbbells now, started with just bodyweight. My Fitbit motivates me to do at least one workout every day. Good luck in attaining your goals!
Neisha I definitely agree with you. I can watch what foods I’m eating,I can keep my house clean and tidy. But I cannot continue to work out consistently. Every time I start I will say that’s it, 18:16 I’m never stopping like that again and then give me a week or two and Something Happens to throw me off course, and it takes me at least a month, if not longer to get back into it.
I am a 4 year 4 month stroke WARRIOR. Right side mobility, strength, muscle tone, and spasticity is an issue. I am mother of the bride this June. That *should* be plenty of motivation but I allow nerve pain and numbness to keep me from doing the necessary. Then there’s the brain fog 🙄 I do very much want to walk that aisle on my son’s arm without that blasted cane! Neisha, we need to encourage each other to Just Do It! By the way, being Keto - Carnivore has given me amazing benefits/results in my recovery journey.
Research HBOT (hyperbaric oxygen therapy) post stroke. I dont know why this is not given to everyone as an option. I fought for my dad to have it and he literally grew back dead brain tissue on his mri. Its noninvasive and definitely worth a try.
@@kaylee5813 yes, I agree. I had several sessions early on in my recovery and I fight for ongoing HBOT and PT for all stroke warriors. I ran out of 2022 covered PT and OT in September and self paid for what I could on my fixed disability income. I lost so much in 2 months. It’s scary! Doing what I could at home with RUclips absolutely cannot compare to regular and formal PT with a licensed therapist. ~ Thank you for pointing out HBOT💖

Former personal trainer and fitness instructor. Then Hashimoto's almost killed me. Recovering with carnivore. I just can't get myself to do it either. I'm active, but not specific exercise. I'm not totally convinced anymore its all it's cracked up to be. I think it contributed to my adrenal fatigue and downward spiral.
I have a private Pilates session twice a week on Zoom with a trainer who happens to be my daughter. She is very good, and I so enjoy the time with her. I wouldn't do it if left on my own. I walk the dog a mile and half or so and when snow conditions are good, I cross-country ski out the back door. None of it seems to be helping me have an awesome body but maybe I'll live a few more years.
I’m with you Neisha! I dread exercising! Thanks to your husbands and your advice I’m carnivore now for 6 months. As soon as my back injury is resolved I’m going to do weight lifting to strengthen this body! You are a doll! You can do anything with a little kicking and screaming 😂
