It seems like you've timed this solo channel launch almost perfectly with me finally getting a decent camera for shooting video (ZV-E10). Lessons like this are exactly what I need. Keep it up!
Love how you include the DIY approach, but also talk about its limitations. Great video!
The perfect lighting of face on a dark background, a warm cinematic look high quality video; That is Brandon 👏🏻
I'm so impressed with how well the raincoat and clamp light worked
the hair in the chopped onions at 1:43 😱
I'm so here for some more Brandon talking about gear and film making
I love Brandon getting to finally show off all his knowledge and experience about cameras in front of the camera
I love the fact that, at least to me, the DIY setup seemed a lot easier to work around.
While it likely takes a lot longer to setup/modify, the DIY lights look a lot less bulky.
The DIY lighting technique was so cool to see! Definitely trying that out.
I know nothing about photography. I don't want to be a photographer. I love your videos, it's wild how much effort you put into the little details and it really pays off.
This channel couldn't have come at a better moment!!
Thank you so much for the info!!
Love this type of content, especially helps those trying to get into content creation! Thank you Brandon!
This was so helpful! I particularly loved the DIY version coming after the ‘professional’ version and then the comparison. Such a good sequence. Thank you for making this!
When you're starting out, you actually need to use DIY stuff for lighting, scene setup, etc. because it will train you mentally to always be in problem-solving gear, it also makes you quite resourceful. Those two attributes will be key to make your life easier as a professional.
Now you can Teach us Cinematography❤
Nice to find your channel! Looking forward to that topdown setup!
idea for video, best budget/cheap cameras for hobby, vacations, etc... but for begginers. Overall camera for photo and video.
Great videos for now, rly educative !
Riiiiight into the Guac ASMR....and yet we keep going
Ive been using tissue paper for years, never thought about a rain coat. That is something i will have to try. Great video!
You know its a good and accessible DIY solution when the aluminum foil comes out
Brandon is the GOAT
That was some dangerous knife work right there ;-)
Run your own channel but should have been stuck with LMG as well. You were one of their backbone. Specially after lab completion, you could be one the main host camera reviews.
Your setups have been so user friendly, I love it! Really helps out with visualizing the subtle changes you can make to a scene, even on a strict budget. Keep it up, Brandon!
The shots look so familiar. Interesting how i can see similarities between this and the ltt videos.
thanks brandon for having a budget option. using a raincoat to diffuse light is such a brilliant idea!
Loving the content Brandon!
With DP going out of buisness, Brandon could quickly become the go to for DP/V
I'd love if you could do an entire video about c-stands. It's such an overlooked part of a solid lighting rig.
And here I was hoping to light a scene... with my groceries.
Thanks Brandon! I will miss your wholesome and detailed shortcircuits for cameras. I always watched them.
What are your plans about those?
Who will you partner with to explain cameras?
or Perhaps will be you be doing videos on impressions or short explains without the actual cameras?
Really excited about the top-down shots video!
This is also great for photography
This was done very well I learned something new. Thanks for the video
Great video, Brandon!
Macguyver of lighting.
I just got my first real camera (used Olympus E-M1 Mark II) and I'm so happy you are bringing valuable tips and tricks for beginners, while keeping budget in mind.
yay new video
Aww yiss another Brandon video :P
Good stuff
Brandon Camera Tips BCT lol, 😂. I appreciate and always have had a fascination with photography. Thanks for taking time to go into simple work arounds how shots can look amazing without being to complicated. Can't wait for more content.
Yeah, Brandon’s back. 😊
I cant wait for your video on product videography!
Wow what a truly incredible video, never have I seen such beauty grace my screen, and I don't just mean the cinematography
The DIY setup looked more like a natural light source, which for cooking feels much more pleasant than the dramatic lighting of the professional setup.
great video
Great content. Looking forward to more
Delicious.
I recently saw Linus new vid. We will miss you in LMG. Hoping to see more content.
I’d love to see a desk setup video, personally!
I'm so happy I made productive decisions about my finances that changed my life forever, hoping to retire next year... Investment should always be on any creative man's heart for success in life.
I agree with you and believe that the secret to financial stability is having the right investment ideas to enable you earn more money, I don't know who agrees with me but either way I recommend real estate or crypto and stocks.
Yeah!! It would be more beneficial and yield more profit if you actually trade on cryptocurrency, I've been trading since the dip, I've made so much profit trading.
I am interested to know more and invest in Crypto please
trading is easier with proper guidance, especially from a professional, Newbies who are not aware of how crypto truly works and wish to make profits from it, I would advise to invest with a professional like Fergus waylen, It helps secure and minimize the possibilities of losses.
I'm honestly surprised that this name is being mentioned here, I stumbled upon one of his clients testimony last week in CNBC world news
Can you maybe make a video on Motioncam? The raw video you can get out of it is way to good for a smartphone, especially in HDR
Love the DIY solutions, and shoot stuff at night tip!! My one question is are these shots color graded or are you using a LUT to achieve this esthetic in a post process?
I wish you never resigned from ltt. They're growing bigger and better. You could be their camera test guy
are you using a focal reducer/speed booster with the fd glass or just adapting it straight to the fuji? I just started using one with mine and have been enjoying it so far!
nice
ive been contemplating starting to make content for a while and youre motivating me to start trying. how would you suggest i shoot mini sculptures 5-10 cm tall ?
cinematography: A+
Knife skills: C-
Hey Brandon i have seen all your camera reviews would love to get ur opinion on r50 and zv-e10
thats the biggest ring ever. lol
Brandon filling the void that matters :)
Brandon, I would totally subscribe to you on Floatplane. Would love to see the footage with the higher bitrate!
i kinda prefer the diy one and i can't tell why. the lighting seems more natural to me
Well, as Brandon once a said: lighting is an extremely important part of my life :) excellent vid. Just a question (not necessarily lighting related) - I hv an EOS RP w/ 25-105 USM - an I cannot take a good photo of any sunset. Somehow the foreground gets either too bright and then a sunset becomes daylight - or I get the sunset but the foreground is too dark. 😊
Hey Brandon. Do you have any lighting tips for pets?
Wooo!😂
Incandescent light bulbs ARE quickly becoming a specialty item in the EU. Every bulb in the near future will be LED.
Any thoughts on easy/cheap led lighting setups for videography? How do you avoid strobing/blinking?
Unless you look for video light specific LEDs you will need to experiment. It depends on the LEDs construction, some will show the 60(or 50)HZ line flicker and some will use switch mode power supplies of sufficiently high frequency to seem continuous. Sometimes you will have better results with high quality dimmable bulbs
Are they fully banned? Where i live they are now sold as heaters (which is pretty fitting).
So did my export trick work for you?
Sadly no, what ended up working was putting my edited video into a brand new timeline. No idea why.
@@brandonylee yeah, that also works with some Premiere errors.
It was probably some effect, transition, or combination of those, at that specific timecode that you told me.
Great video. BUT TUCK YOUR FINGERS WHEN CUTTING FOOD
Damn, it's nice seeing you move in 24fps hahahaha
amazing videos, I'd love to see you do something with the one and only peter mckinnon :)
Comment for the algo :)
Hey brandon, have you been using DaVinci resolve for this video? I recognized the text effect :)
Now I need some guac
0:21 I should call her
The quality of the video is insane! How did you get here thru youtube compression?
An old LTT trick, film in HD(or UHD), edit ect, then upscale to 4K and upload. YT does a far better job of down scaling from a 4K source even if you only intend to produce HD. LTT has been doing this for years, they have a video on it, I thin featuring Brandon...
@@dougle03 That's old news. LTT has just worked at straight-up 4K for ages.
He's shooting with a 12k camera lol
@@TaranVH Indeed, However I was offering it as a way for creators who only shoot in HD to get better results from the YT compression machines.
@@WyattWinters He is, but my comment was more about getting better results on YT from a HD source.
How about good green screen lighting?
I feel like you've cheated a bit with that full pro camera there :)
I spent a lot of time and some not insignificant amount of money trying to get the setup for clean background scene for product showcase, but made multiple mistakes along the way. Having a go-to tutorial on how to approach it, what to look for in the camera and so on would be invaluable to me at that time.
hi brandon
I like your videos, the focus on lighting is something that's not this present in channels, which is great! I do think your audio could be a little better though, that mic sounds very far away.
an alternative to a rain coat, I've used a shower curtain.
A shower curtain liner more specifically; it's hard to find unpatterned translucency otherwise.
One question : why do u shot anamorphic for a "simple" ytb video?
Or am I fooled by the vintage lenses 🥸
LTT could never
The only thing I can say about this video is CLAW GRIP!!! You gonna cut them fingers off if you keep cutting herbs like this 4:23
You look like that guy from ltt
But how was the guac? 😂
Delicious :)
I'm hoping Brandon doesn't intend to support HDR on his lighting videos.. My eyes!
When the fuck did Brandon have a channel?
Did u leave ltt or was that a April fools joke
Not a joke I no longer work at LMG 😂
Linus should buy this channel for ltt.... And then let it get hacked
😆 Nothing against Brandon but those cutting skills need a bit more polish
I was confuse when I saw you have youtube channel.. turn out you are break free from linus drop tips..
Your windows isn't activated back there
Gotta keep the LMG tradition :D
He learnt from the best!
you need to relax on camera a bit, you're stifling your great charisma.
This requires me going out and seeing people? Hard pass! /s
bro you don't know how to cut an avocado??
but why?
