  • In this video, I share with you how I perform a water change and harvest on a copepod culture vessel.
    The copepods are tigriopus californicus.
The phytoplankton are nannochloropsis and tetraselmis.

Great video. Where did you find the 3 gal culture vessels with the spigot?

      Thanks!
I got those containers at Smart & Final, in the party supplies section.

Great video!! Was the end result from harvesting 1 culture vessel? How often are you collecting from the same vessel

Can you go over how you sterilize tools for your copepod culturing and your phytoplankton culturing.

I first wash them with dishwashing soap just like regular dishes. Then I rinse them with hot water. After that, I spray them with a 50/50 solution of water and 70% isopropyl alcohol and let them air dry in a clean location.
It is a good idea to have a few spare containers so you can put them into a scheduled rotation.
This is just a hobby setup, so I cannot guarantee an absolute sterile environment. But it is still good to keep it as clean as possible.
